DTE Energy announced on October 1, 2026, that construction is complete on Cold Creek Solar Park, a 100-megawatt solar project near Coldwater, Michigan. DTE links the project to Ford Motor Company’s renewable-energy plans for its Michigan operations. It is a solar park—not the separately named 100 MW Cold Creek Energy Center listed by Michigan regulators as a battery-storage project.
What is the Cold Creek Solar Park?
Cold Creek Solar Park is a utility-scale solar project with a stated capacity of 100 megawatts. DTE Energy’s October 1, 2026 announcement says construction is complete and places the project near Coldwater, Michigan. DTE’s earlier April 15, 2025 groundbreaking announcement described the planned facility as a 100 MW solar array.
The completion announcement does not state the project’s acreage, panel count, construction cost, expected annual generation, local job total, or tax revenue. Those figures cannot be inferred from the project’s capacity or completion status.
How is the solar park connected to Ford?
DTE says Ford agreed to purchase up to 650 megawatts of renewable energy through its CleanVision MIGreenPower program. The program lets customers attribute their electricity use to clean energy produced in Michigan. DTE connects Cold Creek to that arrangement and to Ford’s plans for electricity used in Michigan manufacturing.

DTE says that by the end of 2027, every Ford vehicle manufactured in Michigan will be assembled with the equivalent of 100% carbon-free electricity. This is a stated goal and deadline, not confirmation that the target has already been achieved. The announcement does not establish that Cold Creek alone supplies all of the electricity associated with that goal.
Cold Creek solar park versus Cold Creek battery project
The similar names and identical stated capacities refer to different projects. DTE’s October 2026 announcement concerns the completed solar park; a Michigan Public Service Commission announcement dated March 27, 2026 lists a separate Cold Creek Energy Center in the context of battery-storage contracts.

DTE’s release establishes that the company announced completion, the solar park’s stated capacity and approximate location, and its connection to Ford’s renewable-energy plans. It also quotes Ford director of Energy Infrastructure & Engineering Amir Mirshahi: “Cold Creek Solar Park is now delivering on the promise we made when we broke ground on this project — clean, reliable energy for our Michigan operations and for the communities where we build our vehicles.”
DTE Electric president and chief operating officer Matt Paul described the project as an example of customers and energy providers working together to advance Michigan’s clean-energy future. These are company statements; the release does not provide independently verified construction, generation, employment, or local-revenue measurements.
