North Mankato’s Spring Lake Park Swim Facility is closed for the 2026 season after flood-related damage, with reopening planned for 2027. The closure creates a gap in seasonal pool operations, but available city financial records do not quantify lost 2026 pool revenue or forecast receipts after reopening.
Why is the Spring Lake Park Swim Facility closed?
The facility at 641 Webster Avenue was damaged during summer 2024 after excessive rain and flooding. Higher water levels and a raised water table affected the liner of its sand-bottom pool. The City announced that the facility would be closed for the 2026 swim season and that seasonal passes would not be sold for that season. Radio Mankato reported the closure on January 22, 2026.
What work is planned during the closure?
The City’s reported plans combine repairs with facility improvements: an expanded pool deck and turf area, new features for children ages 2–12, a designated lap-swim area, entryway and bathhouse updates, and heating and filtration improvements. The announcement described reopening for the 2027 season as an expectation, not a confirmed completion date.
What does the City’s financial report say about pool revenue?
North Mankato’s audited 2023 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, issued June 13, 2024, covers the fiscal year ended December 31, 2023. It says charges-for-services revenue increased mainly because of more use of Caswell North, increased pool attendance, and increased participation in culture and recreation. That establishes pool attendance as one contributor to a broader citywide revenue trend; it does not identify pool receipts separately.

Can the closure’s revenue impact be calculated from the available figures?
No. The cited financial report does not isolate pool revenue, estimate a closure-year loss, or state expected pool receipts after construction. It therefore cannot support a dollar estimate for the 2026 gap or the pool’s projected contribution in 2027. A sound comparison would require pool-specific budget assumptions or actual receipts for the relevant seasons, clearly distinguished from the citywide service-charge figures.
