Warbirds Over Monroe will not take place in 2026. Its official event page says construction and improvements at Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport are behind the cancellation. The City of Monroe has not determined the air show’s future beyond 2026.
Why is the 2026 air show canceled?
The official Warbirds Over Monroe event page says Charlotte-Monroe Executive Airport (KEQY) is undergoing construction and improvements. It does not identify a specific project, construction phase, or runway closure as the direct cause of the cancellation.
A City of Monroe document lists airport work that includes apron and taxiway rehabilitation, wildlife perimeter fence rehabilitation, and an air traffic control tower program. Those projects provide context for the airport’s improvements, but the City has not linked any one of them to the air show’s cancellation.
Will Warbirds Over Monroe return after 2026?
The City has not decided what will happen to the event after 2026. The official event page states, “The City of Monroe has not yet determined the future of the Air Show beyond 2026.” No return date or replacement venue has been announced in the cited updates.
