Roborock unveiled the Saros Z70 at CES on January 5, 2025, promoting it as the first mass-produced robot vacuum with a foldable five-axis mechanical arm. The OmniGrip arm is designed to move a limited set of small, light objects so the robot can clean floor that was blocked—not to tidy a room or pick up arbitrary household clutter.
What the Saros Z70’s arm is designed to do
Roborock’s OmniGrip arm folds into the robot’s body and can move selected objects weighing under 300 g, according to the company. Its US feature page names socks, sandals, crumpled tissues and towels among the supported items. Roborock describes the arm as a way to expose floor that the vacuum could not reach while an object was in the way.
That is a narrower job than general-purpose pickup. The stated weight threshold and list of recognizable objects do not establish that the Z70 can handle every object below 300 g, or reliably move items that are tangled, wedged, unusually shaped or otherwise unlike those examples. Roborock says performance can vary with software updates and environmental conditions.
How Roborock says the cleaning sequence works
- Set up the feature: Connect the robot to the app, activate OmniGrip and choose its behavior settings. Roborock says the arm is disabled by default.
- Run the initial cleaning session: Roborock says the robot detects and marks eligible objects during its first run rather than moving them immediately as part of an uninterrupted cleaning pass.
- Return to exposed floor: In a second session, the robot is described as circling back to the marked locations and cleaning the areas that were previously obstructed.
This is Roborock’s account of the intended operation, not a guarantee that every object will be recognized, moved or followed by a successful second pass. The company’s launch announcement says users must activate the arm in the app and can select settings for its behavior.

Recognition and customization claims
Roborock says its system recognizes 108 obstacle types and lets users define up to 50 additional objects through an app feature delivered by over-the-air software updates. Those figures describe manufacturer-stated recognition and customization capabilities; they are not independent measurements of recognition accuracy.
Other advertised Saros Z70 specifications
Roborock lists a robot height of 7.98 cm and suction power of 22,000 Pa. The company also advertises StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, a dual anti-tangle system, and FlexiArm side-brush and mop features. These are product claims, not comparative test results, so the specifications alone do not show how the vacuum cleans relative to other models.

Dock features depend on the package
Roborock’s launch announcement describes Multifunctional Dock 4.0 features including mop washing at 80°C, automatic mop removal and 2.5-hour fast charging. The announcement does not establish that every Saros Z70 retail package or regional configuration includes that dock. Check the exact model and included equipment for the market where it is sold before assuming those functions come with a particular purchase.

The Saros Z70’s defining announcement was a robot vacuum with a built-in mechanical arm for moving selected lightweight objects out of the way. Roborock presented it as the first mass-produced robot vacuum of this kind; that “first” characterization is the company’s claim. The available product materials describe the feature and advertised specifications, but do not establish independent real-world performance or comparative cleaning results.
