The Roomba i7+ pairs the i7 robot vacuum with a Clean Base dock that automatically empties its bin into a disposable bag. Its strongest case is convenience: you can direct it to mapped rooms, and you empty the dock bag far less often than the robot’s bin. The trade-offs are a bulky dock and recurring bags. A 2019 review found it easy to use and praised its cleaning, but that evidence does not establish how it compares with today’s robot vacuums.
What comes with the Roomba i7+?
The “+” package combines the Wi-Fi-connected Roomba i7 robot with iRobot’s Clean Base automatic dirt-disposal dock. The dock transfers debris from the robot’s bin into an enclosed disposable bag. iRobot says the bag holds 30 robot bins; that is a manufacturer capacity claim, not a guarantee of a particular number of cleaning cycles or days between changes. iRobot Singapore’s product page describes the i7+ as having a three-stage cleaning system and dual multi-surface rubber brushes.
The key distinction from an i7 sold without the “+” package is the included Clean Base. If comparing listings, confirm that the dock is actually included: a robot and a Clean Base may be listed or sold separately.
How mapping and room-selective cleaning work
iRobot describes Imprint Smart Mapping as allowing the i7+ to remember multiple floor plans and room names. Its fast-facts material says owners can select specific rooms in the iRobot Home app or direct the robot by voice. These are the manufacturer’s feature descriptions; they do not independently establish how the app or voice integrations currently behave. iRobot’s fast-facts document dates to approximately 2021.

Room targeting is useful when you want to clean a particular area rather than start a whole-home run. The value depends on whether you will use the map and room controls; buyers who only want basic scheduled cleaning may get less benefit from the i7+’s mapping features.
What the Clean Base changes in everyday upkeep
After a cleaning run, the robot empties its bin into the dock’s enclosed disposable bag. That reduces how often you need to handle the robot’s collected debris, but it does not eliminate upkeep: the bag still needs replacing. iRobot UK claims the Clean Base can go up to 60 days before attention is needed. Treat that as a manufacturer’s upper-limit claim, not a dependable interval for every household; how often the robot runs and how much it collects affect bag life. iRobot UK’s product page gives the claim.

Because the dock relies on disposable bags, the convenience comes with a recurring consumable cost. Check that replacement bags are compatible with the Clean Base version you own before buying; this review does not establish a specific compatible listing or current bag price.
What the 2019 review found
In a review published on 15 February 2019, El País described cleaning as very good and the robot as easy to use. The publication praised conveniences including room-targeted cleaning and automatic emptying, while criticizing the Clean Base’s size and the system’s high price. El País also reported that its test took roughly 45–50 minutes to clean a home of about 50 m² and used approximately half the battery. Those figures describe that review’s test context; they are not universal runtime specifications.

There is no verified current US price, stock status, or new-versus-refurbished availability here, so a blanket value verdict would be misleading. Judge a specific listing against what matters in your home:

- Confirm the package: make sure the Clean Base is included if you are paying for an i7+ rather than an i7 alone.
- Weigh convenience against space: the 2019 review found the dock bulky, so consider where it will sit and whether automatic emptying saves enough effort for you.
- Account for bags: disposable bags are part of ongoing ownership; verify compatibility and the price of replacements before committing.
- Value room controls realistically: mapped, room-selective cleaning is a manufacturer-described capability, but it only adds value if you expect to use it.
- Check the actual price and condition: compare the seller’s current price, return terms, and condition with other options available to you. The evidence here does not establish how the i7+ performs against current models.
For a meaningful current comparison, assess whether competing models include a self-emptying dock, offer room-selective mapping, fit your available dock space, require recurring bags, and are actually available at a price you can verify. Do not infer that the i7+ is the most capable or most expensive option on today’s market from a 2019 review.
