For nonstick cooking, its 2025-updated guide recommends the Ninja CW99009 ceramic set and also includes the T-fal C561SC traditional nonstick set. They suit different priorities: choose based on your cooktop, the pieces you need, and how you want to cook and clean.
Best budget cookware sets by cooking style
These recommendations come from Reviewed’s published testing, not testing conducted for this article. The models are not interchangeable winners: stainless steel favors searing, while nonstick is geared toward easier release and cleanup.
| Reader priority | Evidence-backed option | Tradeoffs to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel for everyday cooking and searing | Cuisinart MCP-12N Multiclad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set | Reviewed names it best overall in its affordable-set guide. Check the current listing, price, and included pieces before buying. |
| Ceramic nonstick | Ninja CW99009 ceramic nonstick set | Reviewed reports good food release and induction compatibility; it also notes that the handles can be hard to clean and the set could use a larger mid-size pot. |
| Traditional nonstick | T-fal C561SC traditional nonstick set | Reviewed reports good results with eggs and simmered sauces, but less effective searing than stainless steel and no induction compatibility. |
What the three sets offer
Cuisinart MCP-12N: stainless steel for searing
Reviewed’s October 6, 2025-updated budget guide selects this Cuisinart as its best overall affordable set. It describes tri-ply construction with an aluminum core and induction compatibility. The assortment includes saucepans, skillets, a sauté pan, a stockpot, and a steamer insert. Confirm the specific pieces and model number on the retailer’s current listing, since price and stock can change.
Ninja CW99009: ceramic nonstick convenience
Reviewed recommends this ceramic nonstick set for readers who prioritize easy food release; its testing reported good release. The guide flags two practical compromises: the handles can be difficult to clean, and the assortment lacks a larger mid-size pot. Reviewed reports induction compatibility, but check the exact model and listing to ensure it matches your cooktop.

#1 Best Overall
- Cast Iron body with non-stick coating, BPA-free.
- Portable and extremely light weight.
- Comfortable handles and vented glass lids.
- Please use low to medium heat, extremely high temperature can cause handle and coating damage.
- NOTE: This small lightweight cookware set is mainly used for travel cooking or outdoor picnic. It is not the big size for indoor.
T-fal C561SC: traditional nonstick
Reviewed reports that this set cooks eggs and simmers sauces well. It does not sear as effectively as stainless steel and is not induction-compatible, so it is a poor match if induction cooking or high-heat browning is essential.
How to choose a cheap cookware set
Start with the cooking surface
Stainless steel is suited to searing and generally tends to last longer than nonstick cookware, though it can be harder to clean. Nonstick is often easier to clean and less expensive, but typically does not last as long. These are broad material tradeoffs, not guarantees about every pan or model. If you have an induction cooktop, verify compatibility for the exact set: Reviewed reports it for the Cuisinart and Ninja options, but not the T-fal.

Check useful pieces, not the advertised count
A high piece count can include lids or utensils rather than the pan or pot size you need. Compare the included skillets, saucepan capacities, sauté pan, and stockpot with the meals you actually cook. A cookware set may cost less than buying every piece separately, but it may not be worthwhile if you only need a skillet or stockpot. Reviewed also advises considering open-stock pieces when only one or two replacements are needed.
Compare the practical costs
Look beyond the headline price. Compare material and cooking surface, induction compatibility, included sizes, ease of cleaning, how the handles feel, and storage needs. Prices and availability change, so verify the current price, model number, assortment, and retailer listing before purchasing.

What “tested” means in these recommendations
Reviewed says it evaluates cookware sets for performance, ease of use, and value. Its budget-guide protocol includes searing chicken thighs, tossing vegetables, simmering sauces, cooking rice, blanching vegetables, checking for hotspots, and frying an egg without oil to assess nonstick release. In a separate cookware-set overview, Reviewed says it cooks a multi-component meal, checks whether several pieces fit on a standard cooktop, and assesses handle feel and maneuverability. See Reviewed’s affordable cookware guide and its cookware-set overview for the published methods and recommendations.
Food Network’s guide, updated August 14, 2026, describes frying, scrambling, and hard-boiling eggs; searing chicken thighs, skin-on fish, and strip steaks; simmering, boiling, and sautéing; hand-cleaning; and checking for dishwasher damage when a manufacturer claims dishwasher safety. It says expert reviewers considered other reviews and home-cook reports alongside test-kitchen and home-stove testing. These are the publishers’ stated methods and should not be mistaken for tests performed for this article. See Food Network’s cookware-set guide.
