The controls and available settings differ by model: some convertible models require you to select Freezer mode first, while Family Hub models use the Fridge Manager app. If the panel does not match these instructions, use the manual for your exact model.
Before changing the setting, identify your controls
Look at the refrigerator’s control panel. A dedicated Freezer button usually cycles through freezer setpoints with repeated presses. A convertible model may instead have a Temp. button for switching between Fridge and Freezer modes. On Family Hub refrigerators, Samsung says to use the Fridge Manager app to control freezer temperature and Power Freeze.
Samsung notes that the display and controls depend on the model. If you cannot find the controls described here, check the model-specific manual rather than assuming another Samsung refrigerator has the same interface. See Samsung UK’s temperature-setting guidance.
Change the freezer temperature with a Freezer button
- Find the Freezer button on the refrigerator’s control panel.
- Press it repeatedly to cycle through the available freezer settings.
- Stop when the desired temperature appears on the display. On the Samsung UK example, the selection takes effect automatically.
The available values vary by model and market. For example, Samsung UK describes a Freezer-button sequence from -15°C to -23°C; that range is not a universal specification for every Samsung refrigerator. If your display offers different values or behaves differently, follow your model’s manual.

For a convertible model, select Freezer mode first
On the convertible refrigerator covered by Samsung US’s instructions, press and hold Temp. for three seconds to switch between Fridge and Freezer modes. Confirm the Freezer indicator is on, then choose the setting using that model’s controls. Samsung lists 5°F to -8°F as the available range for this example in Freezer mode; it should not be applied to other models without checking their instructions.
For a Family Hub refrigerator, use Fridge Manager
Samsung’s US troubleshooting guidance says freezer temperature and Power Freeze on Family Hub refrigerators are controlled through the Fridge Manager app. Use the options shown for your appliance in the app and consult its model-specific manual if you need help identifying the correct setting. Do not confuse a temperature adjustment with Power Freeze
A short press on the Freezer control selects a temperature on the cited button-panel examples. Holding a Freezer or Power Freeze control for three seconds can instead turn on Power Freeze, a temporary rapid-freezing feature. On the cited models, repeat the hold to turn it off; an indicator lights when the feature is active.
Power Freeze uses more power and eventually returns the freezer to its previous setting. The duration depends on the model: Samsung US and UK guidance describes operation for up to 50 hours in some contexts, while Samsung US troubleshooting says some models may run for up to 72 hours. These are model-specific maximums, not a guaranteed duration for every refrigerator. - INSTALLATION AND DIAGNOSIS – Disconnect refrigerator power before servicing. Inaccurate temperature readings or unstable cooling may also be caused by damaged wiring, fans, control boards or other components, so confirm the original sensor is faulty before replacement.
Allow time for the freezer to reach the new setting
The display may show the freezer’s actual temperature while it moves toward the selected setpoint. A Samsung-hosted Dacor manual explains that reaching the new setting takes time, but does not establish a single stabilization interval for all models. You can wait for the appliance to respond; if you want to check the temperature independently, a freezer thermometer is an optional aid, not a requirement for changing the setting. Follow the range shown by your own refrigerator and its manual rather than transferring a figure from a different Samsung model or region. Samsung Gulf gives -19°C as a typical freezer target in its regional guidance, but that is a general recommendation, not a setting guarantee for every product.
