These are the designers’ recommendations—not an industry-wide consensus or a product-quality test. Use them as ideas, then check scale, intended use, finish, fit, and current availability before buying.
What are the seven Hobby Lobby finds designers recommend?
The list comes from Kansas City designer Gilla Leigh Nordike and Buford, Georgia-based sisters Callie Farley and Ashley Turley of Blue Peach Co. Their suggestions focus on ways to finish a room, add seasonal character, or make a small, visible update.
1. Artificial greenery
Farley and Turley praise the store’s selection of faux trees, plants, and florals. In their view, artificial greenery can provide a finishing detail without the upkeep they associate with fresh plants. They specifically describe a faux agave as convincingly lifelike. Nordike says she uses artificial grass in outdoor designs to fill landscaping gaps. These are designer opinions; the recommendations do not establish how realistic or durable any particular plant is, especially outdoors. Check the item’s intended use and care information.
2. Pots and pottery
Farley and Turley describe pots as a way to complement artificial trees, and say they have used one particular pot in three client homes. Nordike favors ceramic pottery for artificial container gardens and notes the range of styles, sizes, and colors. Her comparison that pottery can cost a fraction of the price is not accompanied by specific products or prices, so compare the actual options available to you.

3. Floral stems
Nordike recommends artificial stems in different colors and heights, including hydrangeas, for table vases or floor pots. For a less crowded arrangement, she suggests removing some green leaves to let the stems feel airier. Choose stem height in relation to the vessel and where the arrangement will sit.
4. Large, classic round mirrors
Nordike highlights large round mirrors as a budget-friendly option with a classic look. That is a design judgment, not a guarantee of lasting style or construction quality. Before choosing one, consider wall space, the mirror’s scale relative to nearby furniture, mounting requirements, and the frame finish.

5. Vintage-inspired accents
Farley and Turley recommend vintage-style frames, risers, candles, and trays for adding an antique touch without buying an authentic antique. They illustrate the budget trade-off with a $250 antique vessel; that figure is their example, not a market average. Their advice is about appearance and budget, so inspect the finish and materials of any piece rather than assuming that vintage-inspired means antique quality.
6. Cabinet knobs
Turley’s practical refresh idea is to replace kitchen or bathroom cabinet knobs; ornate shapes can help create a vintage look. A knob swap is a relatively focused update, but hardware must fit the cabinet. Before purchasing, check the existing hole placement and spacing, the knob’s mounting hardware and projection, and whether its finish suits the room. Hobby Lobby’s official assortment page includes decorative hardware, but that category listing does not confirm that a particular knob is currently in stock.

7. Holiday decor
Nordike describes using red and green accents and oversized jingle bells for Christmas. The article also points to decor for other holidays and seasonal table settings. These are occasional-use purchases, so consider where you will store them and whether a piece works for more than one display. Seasonal assortment changes over time.
How to choose the right find for your room
Start with the job the item needs to do rather than the category name. For greenery, decide whether it will be indoors or outdoors and how much upkeep you want. For pottery, stems, mirrors, and accents, compare material, finish, size, and proportion to the room. For holiday items, weigh seasonal use against storage space. For cabinet knobs, confirm dimensions and mounting compatibility before you buy.
