They may suit a room where adjustable light, privacy, and scheduled or app-based control matter—but the right setup depends on the window, chosen fabric, power source, and control configuration. Pricing is custom quoted, so the practical next step is to compare itemized proposals for the exact window and options.
This review is based on Hunter Douglas product, support, and installation documentation, not an independent performance test or a firsthand installation.
What are Duette shades?
Duette is Hunter Douglas’s cellular, or honeycomb, shade line. Its cells form pockets that trap air at the window; the manufacturer presents this construction as supporting year-round comfort and describes sound absorption as a product benefit. Those are manufacturer-described benefits, not quantified results for a particular home or configuration.
The current product page lists pleat sizes of ¾ inch and 1¼ inches, along with a range of fabrics and light/privacy choices. Options include room-darkening liners, top-down, top-down/bottom-up, Duolite, and ClearView sheers. What does PowerView add?
Hunter Douglas lists PowerView Automation as an option for Duette cellular shades. The 2025 Duette and Applause PowerView Gen 3 guide documents installation, power connection, app and remote operation, troubleshooting, cleaning, and warranty. It also describes the PowerView Gen 3 Gateway for controlling shades in larger projects and integrating Gen 3 shades with third-party integration systems. These materials document capabilities; they do not establish measured reliability, operating noise, or performance in a specific room.
The cellular-shade overview lists battery wands, rechargeable batteries, and wired systems as power categories. It does not establish that every source fits every size or design. Ask the dealer to identify the exact motor generation, power method, control hardware, and any gateway requirement for the proposed shade. Confirm voice-assistant or other smart-home compatibility for that specific generation rather than assuming it from the PowerView name.

Important exception: arches and angled windows
Motorized specialty shapes need a separate fit and power check. In a Hunter Douglas support article updated March 18, 2026, the company says motorized arches and angled shades are operated through the PowerView app, remote, or schedules and have no manual override. For PowerView angles, a headrail-mounted battery wand is unavailable because of mounting-depth requirements; an internal rechargeable battery option is available. These restrictions concern the specified specialty shapes, not ordinary rectangular Duette shades. See Hunter Douglas guidance on operating PowerView motorized arches and angled shades.
How much do motorized Duette shades cost?
Hunter Douglas does not publish one Duette price on its product page. The company says cost depends on window size, treatment and fabric/material, control selection, and optional enhancements. Its purchase process is consultation with a local expert, measurement and quote by that expert, then expert installation. Request a written, itemized quote for the actual opening rather than relying on a general price range. The official process is described on the Duette product page.

What to put in the quote request
- Window dimensions and whether the shade will mount inside or outside the opening; note any specialty shape or clearance issue.
- Fabric, opacity, liner, pleat size, and requested privacy/light-control configuration.
- PowerView control style, motor generation, power source, remote or app needs, and any gateway hardware.
- Installation responsibility, charging access where relevant, service terms, and the applicable warranty.
- A separate total for the shade, selected enhancements, controls and power hardware, installation, and service.
How to compare two configurations
Ask the dealer to quote comparable versions of the same window if you are deciding between options. A lower initial quote may reflect a different fabric, control method, power setup, or installation scope rather than an equivalent shade.

Who should consider Duette with PowerView?
It is worth getting a quote if you want a custom cellular shade and value app, remote, or scheduled operation, and you are prepared to choose among fabrics, privacy/light-control options, and power arrangements. It is less straightforward when you need a firm price before measuring, require a particular smart-home integration that has not been confirmed for the proposed generation, or have an angled or arched window whose charging and override limitations do not fit your needs.

The available manufacturer materials do not establish independent energy savings, acoustic reduction, battery life, or a universal compatibility list. Use them to identify the product choices, then ask the local expert to put the exact specifications and terms in the quote.
