When did Home Depot’s 2024 Halloween decorations launch?
Home Depot announced the collection on July 17, 2024, and said it would launch online on July 18. Those dates describe the 2024 launch, not current availability. The retailer’s 2024 announcement framed the collection around product upgrades, licensed characters, returning favorites and ways to personalize haunted displays.

The list spans products from 3.5 to 12 feet tall. The announcement labels several of the examples animated, while others are presented by name without an animation label. Home Depot described some characters as licensed, including exclusive NBC Universal characters, but did not characterize every item that way.

What was new about Skelly in 2024?
The 12-foot skeleton remained a focal product. In September 2024, the Associated Press reported that the season marked the fifth anniversary of the giant skeleton’s debut and quoted Home Depot senior merchant Lance Allen on changes to the 2024 version. Allen said the Skellys had more UV additive, intended to help them hold up in sunlight, and a more durable resin mixture intended to withstand colder temperatures. These were vendor statements, not independently reported durability test results. The Associated Press report also quoted Allen: “Nobody could possibly need a 12-foot skeleton, but everybody wanted a 12-foot skeleton.”
Home Depot’s launch announcement also called out a Skelly accessory kit with a wig and shoes. It did not state the kit’s price, specify model compatibility or establish ongoing availability.

How Home Depot described the collection
Home Depot senior merchant of decorative Holiday Lance Allen said: “This year we increased our realism, created some impressive, licensed characters and even brought back some fan favorites,” according to the retailer’s launch announcement. This is the company’s description of its assortment, rather than an independent assessment of the decorations.
Allen also told the Associated Press: “And we’ve really seen a shift in the market where now people are decorating for Halloween how we’ve seen with Christmas historically, planning out decorations five to six weeks, two months ahead of time.” The quotation reports Allen’s view; the cited coverage does not provide a statistic measuring consumer planning or demand.

What the 2024 announcement does—and does not—tell shoppers
The announcement is useful for identifying featured names, stated heights, selected animated pieces and the retailer’s launch timing. It does not establish a full assortment count, prices, current stock or whether a product with the same name in today’s catalog is identical to the 2024 model.
Home Depot’s live Halloween category changes over time and is not a historical record of the 2024 range. Its current catalog can be browsed by product type and collection and offers filters including lighting, weather resistance, sound, animation and life size. Those current filters do not document the specifications of every 2024 item. Anyone using the category now should check each listing for its current model details and availability.

For a large display, the practical checks are the item’s dimensions, required footprint, placement and exposure to weather, plus whether its listing specifies lighting, sound or animation. Do not infer those features for a 2024 product solely from the current category filters.
