Countertop models can collect drained water in a reservoir; in-sink organizers can let it drain back into the basin. Check the dimensions, mounting surface, storage layout and cleaning instructions before choosing. The available product documentation does not establish six products tested by this publisher, so this guide compares documented features rather than presenting a fabricated test ranking.
Choose the placement and water setup first
A countertop caddy keeps supplies together beside the sink, but takes up counter space. An in-sink caddy can free that space, provided it fits the basin and its mounting system works on the sink surface.
- Reservoir: The Joseph Joseph Caddy is a countertop organizer with a concealed reservoir that collects drained water.
- Drainage into the sink: Brabantia’s SinkSide organizer hangs inside the sink and has an open bottom and drainage holes.
- Suction-cup mounting: Brabantia specifies a flat, smooth sink surface for its suction cups. IKEA’s RINNIG listing also shows suction cups, but does not provide a surface-compatibility specification in the cited listing.
These designs handle water differently, but the available specifications do not establish that either one dries sponges faster. Consider whether you prefer emptying a reservoir or letting water drain into the sink.

Check fit, capacity and cleanup before buying
Measure the spot, not just the product
For a countertop caddy, measure the available counter area and check the product’s width and depth. For an in-sink model, check its dimensions against the basin and confirm that the intended mounting area is flat and smooth if the organizer uses suction cups. A product can fit the basin yet still be awkward if it blocks the faucet, drain or usual washing space.
Match the compartments to what you keep by the sink
Think through the actual items you want within reach: a soap bottle, brush, sponge or dishcloth. Joseph Joseph documents separate spaces for a bottle and brush, a sponge plate and a cloth rail. Brabantia documents a cloth rail; IKEA’s image shows a sponge and brush, but the cited listing does not state a capacity. Avoid assuming that a caddy will hold a particular bottle or tool unless its dimensions and layout work for yours.

Consider how water and cleaning fit your routine
A reservoir collects water that you may need to empty; open drainage returns water to the sink. Look for removable parts or stated cleaning instructions, especially if you want to clean beneath a sponge tray or around suction cups. Joseph Joseph says its caddy dismantles and is dishwasher safe; Brabantia and Joseph Joseph both describe their products as dishwasher safe. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific model.
How to interpret prices and ratings
At access, the Joseph Joseph US product page displayed a price of $17 and a rating of 4.5228214 out of 5 from 241 reviews. The IKEA US listing displayed $1.99 and 2.9 out of 5 from 254 reviews. These are page snapshots, not fixed prices or controlled comparisons; prices, availability, ratings and review counts can change. They do not show that one caddy drains better, lasts longer or is easier to clean.

What can—and cannot—be called a tested pick
