Start with loose soil rather than adding moisture. Use a soft suede brush on dry suede, or a vacuum’s soft-bristle attachment for upholstery. Avoid vigorous scrubbing, heat, and improvised solvents; the cited guidance does not establish these as safe for suede finishes generally.

Use cleaner only if the garment permits it
Follow the cleaner’s own directions and test it in an inconspicuous area. Construction, dye, lining, and finish can vary, so a method intended for one suede item is not automatically suitable for another.
For its own cleaner, Leather Honey directs users to put the product on a clean, dry cloth—not directly on suede—then wipe the entire surface in circular motions rather than treating only a spot. It says to remove residue with a second cloth, let the item dry naturally away from direct sunlight, and brush gently when dry. How to clean suede shoes
Dry dirt and ordinary marks
Gently brush away dry soil. A suede eraser may help with some marks; if soil has dried into the fibers, work carefully in the direction of the nap rather than scraping aggressively.
Fresh stains and water exposure
Do not rub a wet stain. Blot excess moisture with a clean towel, then let the shoes dry naturally in a ventilated place, away from radiators, dryers, and direct heat. Shoe trees or white paper towels can help support the shoe as it dries. Once it is fully dry, brush gently to lift the nap. When home care is not enough
If a stain remains after gentle care, ask a shoe repair shop about cleaning or restoration rather than escalating to harsher treatment. Good Housekeeping recommends seeking professional help when home cleaning does not resolve persistent shoe stains.

Remove debris without wetting the surface
Follow the furniture maker’s care directions. Where possible, remove cushions and vacuum crumbs and loose debris with a soft-bristle attachment; then brush gently. Leather Honey’s couch guidance cautions that suede absorbs water and that water can contribute to further staining, so do not assume a damp cloth or water-based method is harmless: How to Clean a Suede Couch.

Try a dry tool before a liquid cleaner
A suede eraser may help with some marks. If you consider suede cleaner, confirm that the furniture maker permits it and spot test in an inconspicuous place. Do not transfer a shoe or jacket cleaning method to upholstery without checking the finish and product directions.
Choosing suede cleaning tools and products
A soft suede brush, suede eraser, suede-specific cleaner, and protector are relevant tools, but the sources do not provide independent side-by-side testing or support a “best” product ranking.
