Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →LG Sound Suite is most interesting when a room makes conventional surround-speaker placement impractical. Its Dolby Atmos FlexConnect technology maps the connected speakers and adapts the sound field around their real positions, rather than assuming every speaker is in a textbook location. That can make a modular wireless system easier to install in an open-plan room, rental or furniture-heavy living space.
But FlexConnect is not magic, and this is not a fully cable-free home theater. The speakers still need power, an H7-based system still needs HDMI ARC/eARC to the TV, compatibility depends on the setup, and a complete system can cost more than $2,000. The CES 2026 demonstration showed a compelling concept; later product information and independent reviews provide the more useful ownership caveats.
What LG showed at CES 2026
LG presented Sound Suite as a modular home-theater platform built around four products:
- H7: the central soundbar and, when required, the FlexConnect hub.
- M5: a compact wireless speaker for expansion or rear-channel duties.
- M7: a larger wireless speaker with more substantial driver hardware.
- W7: an optional wireless subwoofer.
The CES demonstration focused on adding speakers without requiring the precise symmetry normally demanded by a conventional surround system. LG says Sound Suite supports up to 27 configurations and can scale to a claimed 13.1.7-channel setup. Those are LG configuration claims, not independent measurements of performance. LG announced the system on December 18, 2025; the public CES exhibition ran January 6–9, 2026, while the original hands-on preview was published January 5.

What Dolby Atmos FlexConnect actually does
Traditional surround systems are designed around expected speaker positions: the rear speakers should be behind the listener, the height channels should be above or reflected toward the seating position, and left and right speakers should be reasonably balanced. Real rooms rarely cooperate. A sofa may be against a wall, one rear speaker may be beside a doorway, or an open-plan layout may leave no symmetrical location at all.
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is designed to account for those compromises. During setup, the system gathers information about the room and speaker locations, then adjusts how connected speakers contribute to the immersive sound field. In practical terms, a speaker that is offset or asymmetrical can be integrated more intelligently than it would be in a fixed-layout system.
That is different from simply transmitting surround audio wirelessly to rear speakers. Ordinary wireless pairing solves the cable between the soundbar and satellite; FlexConnect is a calibration and rendering layer intended to adapt the audio presentation to the room.
However, “flexible” does not mean “independent of physics.” Each speaker still needs power, a stable wireless connection and a position that the calibration system can meaningfully compensate for. Processing can rebalance timing, level and spatial contribution, but it cannot create a physical speaker behind the listener or reproduce the same acoustic result as a properly placed dedicated channel. The fairest description is placement-tolerant, not placement-independent.

H7 soundbar
The H7 is the centerpiece. LG lists a 9.1.6-channel layout, 12 drivers and eight passive radiators. It connects to a TV through HDMI eARC or ARC and can act as the main FlexConnect device for an unsupported LG television or a television from another brand. It also supports USB, Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi according to the specifications reported by TechRadar.

It is a starting point, not a complete equivalent to an all-in-one surround package. LG’s H7 product page contains the current product and pricing information.
M7 speaker
The M7 is the more substantial satellite option. LG describes it as a 2.1.1-channel speaker with a 4-inch woofer and three 1.5-inch full-range drivers. LG also says one M7 can provide Dolby Atmos playback in a compatible TV-led FlexConnect setup.
The M7 is the better fit for buyers who want stronger individual speakers or a minimal TV-led configuration, but its $399.99 price makes expansion expensive. LG’s product page showed a “buy two and save $50” bundle signal when observed; treat that as a promotion rather than a permanent price.
LG’s H7 information says Sound Follow requires at least one M7, or two M5 speakers, in an active Dolby Atmos FlexConnect configuration.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesM5 speaker
The M5 is smaller and less expensive. LG lists it as a 1.1.1-channel speaker with a 3-inch woofer. Its specification sheet lists Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect and Tidal Connect.
There is an important qualification around Atmos operation: LG’s M5 specification sheet marks Dolby Atmos support as requiring two or more M5 speakers. Do not assume that one M5 has the same role as a two-speaker M5 configuration or an M7. Check the exact television and system configuration before ordering.

W7 subwoofer
The W7 is optional. The H7 alone does not include a subwoofer, so buyers who want deeper low-frequency impact need to budget for it separately.
LG’s FAQ previously described support for connecting more than one W7 as a software-update feature expected around June 2026. Because that wording was future-oriented, verify the installed firmware and current support status before treating multi-W7 operation as available.
Two ways to build the system
Path A: compatible LG TV without the H7
Some compatible LG televisions can act as the relevant FlexConnect hub. In that arrangement, M5 or M7 speakers—and, where supported, the W7 subwoofer—connect directly through the TV-led Sound Suite setup. The H7 is not necessarily required.
LG’s February 4, 2026 software update enabled FlexConnect on the 2025 OLED G5, C5 and CS5 models, allowing those televisions to connect directly to M5/M7 speakers and the W7. Exact model, region and firmware support should be checked before purchase because “compatible LG TV” is not a universal description of every LG television.
See LG’s software-update announcement and the Sound Suite overview for the supported-product path.
Path B: another TV or an unsupported LG TV with H7
An unsupported LG TV or another brand’s television can use FlexConnect through the H7. The connection chain is:

TV HDMI ARC/eARC port → H7 soundbar → wireless M5/M7 speakers and W7.
LG’s “any TV” positioning applies to this H7-led configuration, provided the television has compatible HDMI ARC/eARC connectivity. It does not mean that every television can connect directly to M5 or M7 speakers without the H7.
This is also why the system is not completely wireless. The satellites communicate wirelessly with the hub, but the H7 still requires HDMI ARC/eARC to the television, and every powered component needs access to an electrical outlet.
Typical setup process
LG’s manual pages place FlexConnect setup in the LG ThinQ app. The exact labels may change with app and firmware updates, so the following is the practical sequence rather than a promise of identical menu wording:
Recommended Free Tools
- Connect the H7 to the television’s HDMI ARC/eARC port if using an H7-led setup.
- Plug in the H7, M5/M7 speakers and W7 subwoofer.
- Add the products to the LG ThinQ app.
- Select the FlexConnect or Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup option.
- Place the speakers where the room allows, while avoiding severe obstruction or extreme locations.
- Run the room and speaker calibration process.
- Confirm the detected arrangement and test dialogue, bass, rear effects and height effects.
- Run calibration again after moving speakers or substantially changing furniture.
LG’s H7 setup manual and FlexConnect setup page provide the relevant setup documentation.
Room Calibration Pro and Sound Follow
These features address different problems.
Room Calibration Pro is the system’s room and speaker optimization process. It is intended to account for the room, speaker positions and timing relationships so the sound field is better balanced from the listening position.
Sound Follow is a listener-position feature. LG says it uses an ultra-wideband-equipped mobile device to shift or personalize the listening sweet spot. It requires the ThinQ app, an active Dolby Atmos FlexConnect configuration and supported hardware: at least one M7 or two M5 speakers.
Sound Follow should be understood as an LG feature claim with hardware and configuration requirements, not a guarantee that every seat in a room will sound identical. A phone that lacks UWB, an inactive DAFC setup or an unsupported speaker combination can make the feature unavailable.

What realistic systems cost
Using the US prices displayed by LG on August 18, 2026:
| System | Arithmetic | Subtotal |
|---|---|---|
| H7 alone | $999.99 | $999.99 |
| H7 plus two M7 speakers | $999.99 + $399.99 + $399.99 | $1,799.97 |
| H7 plus two M7 speakers and W7 | $999.99 + $799.98 + $599.99 | $2,399.96 |
| H7 plus two M5 speakers and W7 | $999.99 + $499.98 + $599.99 | $2,099.96 |
These are arithmetic examples before tax, shipping or temporary discounts. They also are not necessarily LG’s official named packages. Confirm the supported configuration and live checkout price before buying.
The price changes the buying question. The H7 may look like a $1,000 soundbar, but the FlexConnect proposition is most compelling when additional speakers are part of the plan. A complete system can therefore reach premium home-theater pricing quickly.
What the CES promise gets right—and what it does not
Placement flexibility is meaningful, but limited
For a room with a blocked doorway, uneven walls or an asymmetrical sofa, the ability to calibrate around imperfect placement is genuinely useful. It may be easier to achieve a coherent result than with a fixed-layout system that assumes ideal rear-speaker positions.
It does not make placement irrelevant. A satellite hidden behind furniture, placed at an extreme distance or separated by an unreliable wireless path remains a compromised speaker. FlexConnect can optimize the available hardware; it cannot replace hardware that the room does not permit you to use effectively.
Modularity improves the upgrade path, not necessarily value
Starting with an H7 and adding M5, M7 or W7 units later is more approachable than buying a complete system at once. The trade-off is that each expansion component is relatively expensive, and the total can exceed competing premium systems.
Wireless reduces cable runs, not infrastructure
You avoid running speaker cable from the TV area to the rear of the room, but you still need outlets at every speaker location. An H7-led system also needs HDMI ARC/eARC. Wi-Fi, app permissions, accounts and firmware can matter for setup and selected streaming features.
The ecosystem is narrower than the Dolby label suggests
Dolby Atmos FlexConnect is the underlying technology, but LG’s implementation is built around specific Sound Suite components and selected LG televisions. Buyers cannot assume that arbitrary wireless speakers from other manufacturers can be added simply because they support Dolby Atmos.
Important omissions and compatibility limits
Independent H7 reviews found strong Atmos effects, dialogue and overall performance, but TechRadar specifically criticized the absence of DTS support and HDMI passthrough. Those omissions matter to buyers with DTS-heavy Blu-ray collections, multiple game consoles or several source devices that they would normally route through a soundbar or AV receiver.
The H7 can be a strong fit for a TV-centered system, especially when placement is difficult. It is less attractive as the control center for a complex source chain. A conventional AV receiver may offer broader format support, more inputs and easier long-term component replacement.

FlexConnect is missing
Check firmware on the TV, H7 and speakers. Confirm that the TV supports Dolby Atmos FlexConnect. If it does not, use the H7 as the hub through HDMI ARC/eARC.
The satellites produce no sound
Confirm that the H7 is connected to the TV’s HDMI ARC/eARC port. Optical and Bluetooth connections are not the same as the H7-led FlexConnect connection described by LG.
Surround localization sounds poor
Run calibration again after checking speaker obstruction and placement. Avoid extreme positions and recalibrate after moving furniture or speakers.

Sound Follow is unavailable
Check that DAFC is active, the ThinQ app is available, the mobile device supports UWB and the system includes at least one M7 or two M5 speakers.
The app cannot find a speaker
Check Wi-Fi connectivity, device proximity, account and app permissions, and firmware. The precise ThinQ menu path may differ by app version.
Bass is underwhelming
Remember that the H7 does not include the W7. The subwoofer is an optional purchase.
You moved the system
Run the calibration process again. A layout that was optimized before a major furniture or speaker change may no longer be the best configuration.
Who should buy LG Sound Suite?
Sound Suite deserves consideration if:
- Your room makes symmetrical rear-speaker placement difficult.
- You want to avoid long speaker cables across the room.
- You already own a compatible LG television.
- You prefer to begin with a smaller system and expand.
- You value app-based calibration and a clean installation more than the lowest cost per channel.
It is a weaker choice if:
- You want the cheapest route to surround sound.
- Your television lacks HDMI ARC/eARC and you want to use an H7-led configuration.
- You need DTS support or HDMI passthrough.
- You prefer passive speakers, an AV receiver and broad component interoperability.
- You do not want multiple powered speakers and networked devices around the room.
- You expect “wireless” to mean battery-powered or completely cable-free.
How it compares with the alternatives
A premium Sonos system is attractive for buyers already invested in Sonos multiroom products and its broader ecosystem, but it does not offer this specific LG/Dolby placement proposition.
A premium Samsung soundbar package can make more sense for buyers who want an integrated soundbar, rear-speaker and subwoofer bundle, particularly in a Samsung-TV environment. It is less modular in the specific Sound Suite sense.
An AV receiver with passive speakers remains the strongest category for upgradeability, format support and long-term flexibility. It demands more installation work, cable management and attention to speaker placement.
A conventional Dolby Atmos soundbar with wireless surrounds may be cheaper and simpler, but it generally does not promise the same adaptation to irregular speaker locations.
Verdict: a real solution to a real room problem
LG Sound Suite is not merely “wireless Dolby Atmos.” Its meaningful innovation is the combination of modular speakers with Dolby Atmos FlexConnect’s placement-aware calibration. For buyers whose rooms make ideal surround geometry impossible, that can be more valuable than another soundbar that simply adds more drivers.
The caveat is equally important: FlexConnect does not remove the cost, power requirements, HDMI dependency, ecosystem limitations or acoustic compromises of a multi-speaker system. Treat the CES demonstration as a strong preview of the concept, not proof that every room will produce a reference-quality theater.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does LG Sound Suite work with any TV?
An H7-led FlexConnect system can work with another brand’s TV or an unsupported LG TV through HDMI ARC/eARC. Direct connection of M5 or M7 speakers without the H7 requires a compatible LG television and supported firmware.
Is LG Sound Suite completely wireless?
No. The satellite audio links are wireless, but each speaker and the W7 needs power. In an H7-led setup, the H7 also needs HDMI ARC/eARC to the TV.
Does the H7 include rear speakers or a subwoofer?
No. The H7 is the soundbar only. M5 or M7 speakers and the W7 subwoofer are separate purchases.
Is Dolby Atmos FlexConnect the same as wireless rear-speaker pairing?
No. Wireless pairing transports audio without a rear speaker cable. FlexConnect additionally uses room and speaker-position information to adapt the rendered sound field.
What does Sound Follow require?
LG says it requires the ThinQ app, an active Dolby Atmos FlexConnect setup, a UWB-capable smart device and at least one M7 or two M5 speakers.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: LG Sound Suite is worth considering for difficult rooms, LG-TV owners and buyers who prioritize placement flexibility. It is not the automatic best value for conventional rooms, complex HDMI setups or buyers who need DTS and broad upgradeability. Budget for the speakers, subwoofer, outlets and HDMI requirements—not just the H7’s headline price.
