If you want one Shark vacuum for a mostly hard-floor home, the Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H is the strongest all-around choice among the four models compared here. But pet owners, budget shoppers, handheld users, and buyers who prefer corded deep cleaning have better-fitting alternatives.
If you want one Shark vacuum for a mostly hard-floor home, the Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H is the strongest all-around choice among the four models compared here. It combines good bare-floor performance, HEPA filtration, automatic suction adjustment, a flexible wand, and cordless handheld convenience.
That is not the same as saying it is the best Shark for everyone. Choose the Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H if pet hair is your main problem and you want a removable brushroll. Choose the Shark IX141 for affordable everyday cleaning, or the Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ for cars, stairs, furniture, and quick spills. If you want the deepest cleaning, unlimited runtime, and do not mind a cord, the newer Shark PowerDetect Upright deserves serious consideration.
Our four picks at a glance
| Model | Best for | Main strengths | Main drawbacks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H | Best general cordless Shark | Strong bare-floor performance, HEPA filtration, Clean Sense IQ, flexible wand, handheld conversion | Brushroll is not removable; pet hair can still collect in the floorhead; battery runtime varies by mode |
| Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H | Pet hair at a mid-range price | Excellent tested carpet hair pickup, removable brushroll, HEPA filtration, flexible wand | Weaker general debris pickup than the Stratos, particularly on bare floors |
| Shark Pet Cordless Stick IX141 | Best budget pick | Good routine pickup, strong pet-hair results for its price, handheld conversion, CleanTouch disposal | No HEPA filter, weak fine-particle containment, non-removable brushroll, shorter runtime |
| Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ CH951/CH964AMZ | Best handheld | Good solid-debris pickup for spot cleaning, cars, stairs, and furniture | Only a little over 10 minutes of battery life in independent testing; weak filtration; not a whole-home vacuum |
The rankings above follow the current RTINGS comparison of Shark vacuums. Other 2026 guides place Shark’s newer PowerDetect models higher, particularly when deep carpet cleaning, heavy shedding, or corded performance receives more weight. That difference reflects category and testing priorities rather than a simple contradiction.
1. Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H: best general cordless pick
The Stratos Cordless IZ862H is the best starting point for most shoppers who want a capable cordless stick vacuum without giving up useful filtration and floor-sensing features. RTINGS ranks it first in its current Shark comparison and reports strong bare-floor results with solid overall household performance.
Shark’s official specifications list several features that explain its broad appeal:
#1 Best Overall
- INCREDIBLE SUCTION: Powerful Shark suction picks up dirt and debris on all floor types—tackling even the toughest of messes in your home.
- NO SPOTS MISSED: With Matrix Clean Navigation, the vacuum cleans in a precise matrix grid taking multiple passes over dirt and debris for whole home, deep cleaning coverage.
- IT EMPTIES ITSELF: The bagless, self-emptying base holds up to 30 days of dirt and debris while its true HEPA filtration captures and traps 99.97%* of dust and allergens (*down to .3 microns).
- PRECISION HOME MAPPING: 360° LiDAR vision quickly and accurately maps your home so your robot can methodically clean detecting and avoiding objects in its path, day or night, adapting to everyday changes in the home.
- PERFECT FOR HOMES WITH PETS: With powerful vacuum suction, Shark’s self-cleaning brushroll, and HEPA filtration system the robot captures pet hair, dust, dander and allergens with ease.
- Clean Sense IQ, which detects debris and adjusts suction automatically;
- DuoClean PowerFins HairPro floor technology;
- Odor Neutralizer Technology;
- a MultiFLEX wand for reaching beneath furniture;
- a removable battery;
- anti-allergen sealing and HEPA filtration; and
- an advertised runtime of up to 60 minutes in ECO mode.
Its stick-to-handheld conversion makes it practical for stairs, baseboards, furniture, and vehicle interiors. The automatic suction response is also useful when moving between relatively clean hard flooring and visibly dirtier areas.
Important limitation: the “up to 60 minutes” figure is not a promise of 60 minutes of full-power floor cleaning. Shark’s advertised cordless runtimes are mode- and configuration-dependent, and are generally measured in ECO or standard conditions, often with the handheld configuration. Actual floor-cleaning time will be shorter when using powered tools or higher suction.

RTINGS found that the primary brushroll is not removable and that pet fur can still become trapped in the floorhead. The dustbin is bagless, so emptying it can release dust even though the vacuum has HEPA filtration. HEPA and sealed-system features reduce airborne particle escape during operation; they do not make dust-cup emptying exposure-free.
Best for: hard-floor-heavy homes, general cordless cleaning, automatic suction adjustment, and reaching under furniture.
Skip it if: you want the easiest possible brushroll access, automatic dust disposal, or a vacuum designed primarily around heavy pet-hair removal.

The PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H is the more targeted choice for homes with shedding pets. RTINGS reports that it removed nearly every strand from carpet in a single pass in its pet-hair testing, and that it outperformed the more expensive Stratos on that particular test.
Its most practical advantage may be the removable brushroll. Pet hair eventually needs to be cut or pulled away from almost any powered floorhead, and access makes that job less frustrating. Shark also lists a self-cleaning PowerFins nozzle, FloorDetect, Dirt-Reveal lighting or sensing features, a flexible wand, handheld conversion, HEPA filtration, and an advertised runtime of up to 50 minutes.
The trade-off matters: RTINGS found weaker general debris pickup than the Stratos, especially on bare floors. In other words, this is not the automatic winner simply because it is better at one pet-hair test. It is the better fit when carpet hair removal and brushroll maintenance are more important than the strongest all-around hard-floor performance.
Best for: pet owners who want strong carpet hair pickup and easier brushroll cleaning at a mid-range price.
Skip it if: your home is mostly hard flooring or you prioritize broad debris pickup over pet-hair specialization.
Rank #2
- POWERFUL SUCTION ON CARPET & HARD FLOORS: High suction power pulls up dirt, debris, pet hair, and fine dust from carpets and hard floors, delivering deep, consistent, whole-home cleaning performance.
- SONIC MOPPING FOR STUCK-ON STAINS: Sonic mopping scrubs floors up to 100x per minute to lift tough stains, grime, and dried spills, while intelligently avoiding carpets; use the SharkClean app to set carpet zones for vacuum-only cleaning.
- SELF-EMPTYING & SELF-CLEANING BASE: The NeverTouch base self-empties debris into a 60- day capacity bagless bin, refills water for up to 30 days, and automatically washes and dries the mop after every clean for convenient, hands-free cleaning.
- PERFECT FOR HOMES WITH PETS: Advanced suction and sonic mopping removes pet hair, dirt, and dander, while HEPA filtration with Anti-Allergen Complete Seal helps trap dust and allergens for a fresher home.
- EDGE & CORNER CLEANING WITH EDGE DETECT: Blasts of air pull debris from edges and corners into the cleaning path, ensuring more thorough pickup along walls and tight spaces.
As with the Stratos, the advertised runtime is an “up to” figure. Powered floor cleaning, higher suction, and handheld-tool use can reduce the time available between charges.

3. Shark Pet Cordless Stick IX141: best budget pick
The Shark IX141 is the sensible low-cost option for routine cleaning. RTINGS reports good pickup on bare floors and both low- and high-pile carpets, along with particularly strong pet-hair performance for its price category.
Recommended Free Tools
Shark’s product information identifies the IX141 as an all-floor cordless stick vacuum with LED headlights, a removable handheld unit, CleanTouch dirt disposal, and an advertised runtime of up to 40 minutes. Those features cover the basics for apartments, smaller homes, quick daily passes, and owners who want cordless convenience without paying for Shark’s more advanced sensing systems.
However, the low price reflects real compromises:
- RTINGS reports that it does not have a HEPA filter.
- Fine-particle containment is poor compared with better-sealed models.
- The brushroll is not removable, which complicates hair cleanup.
- Maximum battery life is approximately 40 minutes.
- It lacks the Stratos’s premium automatic suction features.
For allergy-sensitive households, the filtration limitation is more important than the LED headlights or handheld conversion. A vacuum that picks up visible debris well can still be a weaker choice if fine-particle containment is a priority.
Best for: routine cleaning, smaller homes, budget-conscious pet owners, and short cordless cleanups.
Skip it if: you need HEPA filtration, the easiest brushroll maintenance, or enough battery for long uninterrupted cleaning sessions.

4. Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+: best handheld Shark
The UltraCyclone Pet Pro+—sold in versions including the CH951 and CH964AMZ—is the best choice here when “vacuum” means a small tool for fast spot cleaning. RTINGS reports strong solid-debris pickup on hard floors and carpets, making it useful for crumbs, tracked-in dirt, car interiors, stairs, countertops, furniture, and small spills.
The CH951 configuration includes a crevice tool, hard-bristle brush, and turbo brush. That is a useful selection for edges and compact messes, but RTINGS found the turbo brush was not especially effective on upholstered pet hair.
The central limitation is endurance. Independent testing found battery life of only a little over 10 minutes, and filtration is weak. This is not an appropriate substitute for a full-size cordless stick or upright vacuum in a whole-home cleaning routine.
Best for: cars, stairs, upholstery touch-ups, countertops, and keeping a small vacuum ready for immediate messes.
Rank #3
- POWERFUL SUCTION ON CARPET & HARD FLOORS: This robot vacuum delivers strong suction to lift dirt, debris, and pet hair from carpets, rugs, and hard floors, capturing fine dust and larger particles for deep, whole-home cleaning.
- UP TO 1.5X MORE COVERAGE* WITH SMARTPATH NAVIGATION: Uses LiDAR technology to precisely map your home and clean in a row-by-row pattern for maximum coverage and methodical cleaning compared to traditional robot vacuums (*vs. Shark ION).
- SELF-EMPTYING BASE WITH 30-DAY CAPACITY: The bagless self-empty base holds up to 30 days of dirt and debris, eliminating the need for disposal bags and delivering low-maintenance, hands-free cleaning.
- PERFECT FOR HOMES WITH PETS: Designed for pet owners, this robot vacuum captures pet hair, dirt, and dander with powerful suction and an anti-hair wrap brushroll for reliable everyday cleaning.
- DETECTS & AVOIDS OBJECTS: No need to pick up before cleaning—advanced sensors detect and navigate around objects and obstacles in its path, adapting to everyday changes so the robot vacuum can clean without interruption.
Skip it if: you need long runtime, large dust capacity, strong filtration, or full-room floor cleaning.
Use the Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ as a spot-cleaning tool, not as your only vacuum unless your cleaning needs are genuinely limited.
Also consider: Shark PowerDetect Upright
For deep cleaning, heavy shedding, or unlimited runtime, the corded Shark PowerDetect Upright may be a better purchase than any of the four cordless recommendations.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Forbes Vetted names the PowerDetect Upright Cleaner Pet Bundle its overall Shark pick, citing strong suction across carpet and hard floors, automatic sensor adjustment, HEPA filtration, and Powered Lift-Away functionality. TechRadar also places the PowerDetect Upright at the top of its upright category, highlighting deep cleaning for hairy pets, a generous dustbin, automatic adjustment for floor type and dirt, edge suction, and the ability to move backward over larger debris.
Shark describes the newer platform as using DuoClean Detect technology with sensors that respond to floor type, dirt, edges, corners, and cleaning direction. Available bundles and accessories vary, so check whether a listing is the standard upright or a pet-oriented bundle.
The cost of that performance is physical bulk. The corded machine weighs 17.6 pounds according to Forbes Vetted, requires cord management, and is less convenient to carry up stairs or use for quick spills. It also cannot offer the grab-and-go convenience of a cordless stick.
Choose it over a cordless model if: you have substantial carpet, several shedding pets, large areas to clean, or no interest in managing batteries.
Choose cordless instead if: you value quick cleanups, stairs, easy storage, and freedom from a power cord more than maximum deep-cleaning endurance.
For corded cleaning, compare the Shark PowerDetect Upright Vacuum and verify the bundle, corded configuration, and included pet tools before buying.

Cordless versus corded
Cordless models are easier to grab, carry, and convert for stairs or furniture. The Stratos, PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus, and IX141 all convert to handheld configurations; the UltraCyclone is dedicated to handheld cleaning.
A corded upright is slower to deploy but does not stop when its battery is depleted. For deep cleaning several rooms, thick carpet, or a home with heavy shedding, the PowerDetect Upright’s unlimited runtime can outweigh the inconvenience of the cord and its 17.6-pound weight.
Hard floors versus carpet
Among the four RTINGS picks, the Stratos is the strongest hard-floor-focused all-rounder. The PowerPro is more compelling when carpet pet hair is the specific problem, although its general debris pickup is weaker than the Stratos’s. For heavier whole-home cleaning, especially on carpet, the PowerDetect Upright is the corded alternative highlighted by Forbes Vetted and TechRadar.
Rank #4
- POWERFUL SHARK PERFORMANCE: Up to 50% more suction* and designed for carpets and hard floors. (*vs. competitor robot vacuum)
- UP TO 1.5X MORE COVERAGE*: SmartPath Navigation uses spot liDAR technology to precisely map your home and clean in a row by row pattern for maximum coverage compared to traditional robot vacuums (*vs. Shark ION)
- DETECTS & AVOIDS OBJECTS: No need to pick up before your robot cleans with the ability to detect and avoid objects in its path, adapting to everyday changes in your home.
- SELF CLEANING BRUSHROLL: Digs deep into carpets and directly engages hardwood floors pulling up debris, hair, and dirt from all surfaces in your home – engineered to pick up more hair and is anti-hair wrap.
- CONVENIENT HANDS-FREE CLEANING: Voice control activates cleaning the whole home, a room, or a spot through the app or using voice control. With recharge and resume, when low on battery, the robot will recharge and pickup cleaning where it left off.
Pet hair
There are three sensible choices:
- PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus: the focused mid-range choice for tested pet-hair pickup and easier brushroll access.
- IX141: the lower-cost option with strong pet-hair results for its category, but weaker filtration and more awkward brushroll maintenance.
- PowerDetect Upright: the corded choice for deep cleaning and sustained work in a heavily shedding home.
Filtration and allergies
The Stratos and PowerPro have the stronger filtration story in this group, with HEPA or anti-allergen claims supported by the manufacturer’s specifications. RTINGS reports that the IX141 and UltraCyclone lack HEPA filtration.
Do not treat HEPA as a guarantee of zero exposure. Emptying any bagless dustbin can disturb collected dust. If fine particles are a major concern, prioritize a sealed, HEPA-equipped model, empty the dust cup carefully, and follow the manufacturer’s filter-cleaning and replacement instructions.
Brushroll maintenance
“Self-cleaning” does not mean maintenance-free. Hair, fibers, dust cups, filters, and odor-neutralizer components still need attention. The PowerPro’s removable brushroll is a meaningful advantage. The Stratos and IX141 have more cumbersome brushroll maintenance because their primary brushrolls are not removable, and RTINGS still found trapped pet fur in the Stratos floorhead.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteAre newer PowerDetect models automatically better?
No. PowerDetect adds newer sensing and automation features, and the upright is particularly attractive for corded deep cleaning. But RTINGS’s July 8, 2026 comparison still names the Stratos Cordless as the best Shark it tested, while TechRadar’s June 24, 2026 guide favors newer PowerDetect cordless models and ranks the PowerDetect Upright first among uprights.
Those conclusions use different test sets, categories, and editorial priorities. Buy the newest model when its specific advantages—sensor automation, deep cleaning, or corded endurance—solve your problem. Do not pay more merely because a product is newer if the Stratos, PowerPro, or IX141 better matches your flooring, budget, and maintenance tolerance.
Maintenance and buying checks
- Confirm the exact model number: IZ862H, IZ382H, IX141, CH951, CH964AMZ, or the specific PowerDetect configuration.
- Check what tools and battery configuration are included; bundles can differ.
- Treat all advertised runtime figures as “up to” values, not guaranteed powered floor-cleaning time.
- Inspect the brushroll and floorhead regularly, especially in homes with long-haired pets.
- Empty bagless dust cups carefully and maintain filters according to Shark’s instructions.
- For replacement filters, batteries, brushrolls, dust cups, odor-neutralizer cartridges, or under-appliance tools, match the part to the exact model number. Do not assume a universal accessory will fit.
- Before publication or purchase, recheck current price, stock, listing identity, warranty details, and included accessories because retail listings can change.
Bottom line
Buy the Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H for the best balanced cordless experience among these four recommendations, particularly in a hard-floor-heavy home. Pick the PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H when carpet pet hair and removable-brushroll maintenance matter most. The IX141 is the economical everyday option, while the UltraCyclone Pet Pro+ is strictly a quick-clean handheld.
If battery limits and carrying weight are less important than sustained deep cleaning, the Shark PowerDetect Upright is the corded alternative most likely to fit your needs.

Which Shark vacuum is best overall?
The Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H is the best general cordless choice among these four because it combines strong bare-floor performance, HEPA filtration, Clean Sense IQ automatic suction adjustment, a flexible wand, and handheld conversion. It is not ideal if removable-brushroll maintenance or specialized pet-hair performance is your top priority.
Which Shark vacuum is best for pet hair?
The Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H is the best targeted choice for pet hair in this comparison. RTINGS reports that it removed nearly every strand from carpet in a single pass and outperformed the more expensive Stratos on its pet-hair test. Its removable brushroll also makes maintenance easier.
Is the Shark IX141 worth buying?
The Shark IX141 is the better budget pick for routine cleaning and offers strong pet-hair pickup for its price category. It lacks HEPA filtration, has weaker fine-particle containment, uses a non-removable brushroll, and has an approximately 40-minute maximum battery life, so allergy-sensitive shoppers may prefer a more advanced model.
Should I buy a cordless Shark or the PowerDetect Upright?
Choose the Shark PowerDetect Upright if you prioritize deep carpet cleaning, heavy-shedding-pet performance, and unlimited corded runtime. Choose a cordless stick if quick cleanups, stairs, easy carrying, and freedom from a power cord matter more.
Does a self-cleaning Shark brushroll need maintenance?
No. Self-cleaning floorheads still require inspection and maintenance. Hair can collect in a floorhead, and filters, dust cups, and odor-neutralizer components also need care. The PowerPro’s removable brushroll is a practical maintenance advantage.
The Bottom Line
Best overall cordless: Shark Stratos Cordless IZ862H. Best for pet hair: Shark PowerPro Flex Reveal Plus IZ382H. Best budget model: Shark IX141. Best handheld: Shark UltraCyclone Pet Pro+. For deep, unlimited corded cleaning, consider the Shark PowerDetect Upright instead.
