Yeelight supports Apple Home on selected lights, not every product in its range. Its BLE Mesh lights are a separate product category that uses a Yeelight Mesh Gateway for smart control. The announcement behind “Yeelight now supports Apple HomeKit lights and BLE Mesh driven lights” dates to CES on January 14, 2019; it is not evidence of universal compatibility today.
What Yeelight announced in 2019
Yeelight’s January 14, 2019 CES announcement discussed two related but distinct developments. It said selected Xiaomi/Mi-branded products already had HomeKit compatibility, and that Yeelight planned to bring HomeKit support to its own products, including the Aurora Lightstrip Plus and smart bulbs. The announcement also introduced a BLE Mesh lighting family spanning bulbs, candle bulbs, downlights, and spotlights, designed to connect in batches through a gateway.
The announcement described plans and product families, not a promise that every current or older Yeelight light would become HomeKit-compatible. Availability and compatibility depend on the exact model, regional edition, firmware, and, for specified Mesh products, the required gateway.

Yeelight’s regional support documentation lists the following models as HomeKit-compatible:

Yeelight also lists Apple HomeKit for its M2 Downlight and M2 Spotlight. These are Mesh products, so they require the Yeelight Mesh Gateway. Yeelight’s gateway page also says its T43 Bulb requires that gateway for app connection and smart control. That requirement is not, by itself, proof that every T43 regional variant has identical HomeKit support; confirm the specific product listing and setup instructions.
Before buying or troubleshooting, check the model number on the product, box, or local product page. A generic “Yeelight” label is not enough to establish HomeKit compatibility.

HomeKit, BLE Mesh, and Wi-Fi are different things
HomeKit is Apple’s smart-home integration. A compatible Yeelight accessory can be added to Apple’s Home app and controlled through Apple devices and Siri. This is different from controlling a light through the Yeelight app or exposing limited actions through Siri Shortcuts. Siri Shortcut support does not make a device a native HomeKit accessory; Yeelight forum guidance makes that distinction for older ceiling lights (Yeelight forum discussion).

Yeelight designed its Mesh lights for batch connection through a gateway rather than configuring each one as an individual Wi-Fi bulb. In Yeelight’s description, lights can relay information through the Mesh network. Actual performance depends on placement, interference, gateway location, and the specific installation; Mesh should not be assumed to be more reliable in every home.

When you need the Yeelight Mesh Gateway
For the M2 Downlight, M2 Spotlight, and T43 Bulb cited by Yeelight, the Yeelight BLE Mesh Gateway is required for app connection and smart control, and Yeelight says it is sold separately. The gateway joins the home network and links supported Mesh lights to Yeelight’s app and supported smart-home platforms, including Apple Home where the model supports it.
Do not assume a Xiaomi, Mijia, or generic Bluetooth hub can substitute. Hubs can support different protocols, and Yeelight forum guidance notes that certain lights and hubs are not interchangeable. Nor does adding a gateway make an otherwise unsupported Yeelight light HomeKit-compatible.

Add a compatible Wi-Fi Yeelight to Apple Home
- Confirm the exact light model is listed as HomeKit-compatible for your market.
- In the Yeelight app, install any available firmware update. Yeelight’s support instructions recommend updating before setup.
- Turn the light on and keep it near your iPhone or iPad. During setup, keep the phone and light on the same Wi-Fi network, as advised in this regional Yeelight setup guide.
- Open Apple’s Home app on an iPhone or iPad, tap Add Accessory or the plus button, then scan the HomeKit QR code or enter the eight-digit setup code.
- Assign the light to a room and give it a useful name. Test on/off, brightness, color or color temperature as applicable, and Siri control.
The Yeelight support page says to use an iPhone or iPad for this setup; it does not support adding the accessory from a Mac. Exact app screens can vary by software version.

Mesh commissioning varies by model and app version, so use the product’s instructions rather than relying on a universal menu path:

- Install the Yeelight Mesh Gateway and connect it to your home network according to its instructions.
- Put the gateway and supported lights into setup or pairing mode, then add the gateway in the Yeelight app.
- Add the Mesh bulbs, downlights, or spotlights through the gateway—not as ordinary Wi-Fi bulbs.
- Install offered firmware updates. Check the app or product instructions for an option to add the gateway or accessory to Apple Home.
- Where a HomeKit code is supplied, use Apple’s Home app on an iPhone or iPad to scan it or enter the eight-digit code. Test control in both the Yeelight app and Apple Home.
Yeelight’s gateway page confirms the gateway’s role, but does not provide a current English, screen-by-screen setup path for every model. The gateway manual explains code-based Home app pairing and advises keeping the code because it may be needed after a factory reset (Yeelight gateway manual).

No HomeKit QR code or setup code
- Check the product, power supply, packaging, and manual for the code.
- Reconfirm that the exact model—not just a similar product—is HomeKit-compatible.
- Do not treat Siri Shortcuts as proof of native HomeKit support.
- If the light or gateway was reset, you may need the original code again. Keep it somewhere safe.
The light works in Yeelight but not Apple Home
- Update firmware, then confirm the model and regional edition against Yeelight’s documentation.
- For Wi-Fi setup, keep the phone and light on the same local network.
- For a Mesh model, check that the required Yeelight gateway is present, online, and being used to commission the light.
- Remove a stale failed Home entry and retry. If necessary, reset and pair again, but locate and retain the setup code first.
A Mesh light does not appear
- Verify that the gateway is the Yeelight BLE Mesh model and is connected to the home network.
- Move the phone close to the gateway during setup and confirm the light is a supported Mesh model.
- Pair through the gateway rather than trying to add the light as a standard Wi-Fi bulb.
- Check model-specific device limits in the product documentation; there is no universal capacity figure to apply to every setup.
An older ceiling light will not pair
A gateway cannot convert every older Wi-Fi or BLE ceiling light into a HomeKit accessory. Yeelight forum guidance says certain older ceiling lights could not be added through the BLE Mesh hub; Siri Shortcuts may offer limited app-mediated control, but that is not native HomeKit (forum guidance).

Yeelight announced Matter support for its Yeelight Pro line through an S20 gateway upgrade in 2023; that announcement does not establish Matter support for every consumer Yeelight bulb or gateway (Yeelight Pro Matter announcement).

Is Yeelight the right fit?
Choose a listed Wi-Fi Yeelight if you want a relatively direct single-light setup and do not want a separate lighting gateway. Consider BLE Mesh when you are planning many compatible downlights, spotlights, or bulbs and value batch commissioning—provided you are comfortable with the required gateway and have verified its availability and compatibility in your region.
If you want a standards-based alternative, Matter-over-Thread products may suit a home that already has the required compatible hub and Thread border router. For example, Apple’s listing for Nanoleaf Essentials Matter A19 bulbs specifies that infrastructure requirement. The trade-off is that vendor-specific scenes and controls may differ from those in Yeelight’s app. Compare the whole system—lights, any gateway or hub, and your existing network—not just the price of one bulb.
