Yarbo’s Trimmer is a side-mounted, autonomous string-trimming attachment for the company’s modular Yarbo Core robot. It is designed to finish fence lines, flower-bed edges, driveways, paths, borders and other areas a mower can miss—not to replace the Core or operate as a standalone trimmer.
The launch is real, but buyers should separate Yarbo’s advertised hands-free operation from current availability, changing prices and anecdotal owner reports about turning, mapping and difficult terrain.
What Yarbo announced
Yarbo announced the Trimmer on March 27, 2025, with orders scheduled for April 7 and an announced launch price of $499. The launch positioned it as a consumer autonomous edge trimmer using vision technology and a floating structure intended to follow uneven ground while limiting contact with plants and structures. How the modular Yarbo system works
The Trimmer is an attachment in Yarbo’s larger platform:
- The Yarbo Core provides the tracked drive system, navigation, battery and controls.
- The Trimmer connects through Yarbo’s required Back Brace Mount (BBM).
- The Core can be fitted with other task modules, including Yarbo’s mower, snow blower and blower.
- The app maps trimming areas and schedules autonomous runs.

“Autonomous” here means that a configured Core can be sent through mapped zones without someone physically holding the tool. It does not mean the robot identifies every uncut blade, eliminates setup or requires no supervision. Mapping, no-go zones, navigation infrastructure, charging, module installation, terrain and maintenance still determine the result.

Price and availability: verify before ordering
Yarbo’s pricing has changed since launch and its pages have not been consistent. The March 2025 announcement listed $499. As observed on August 18, 2026, the dedicated product page listed $799, while the collection page displayed $699 on sale against $799. One version of the product page also showed “Out of Stock,” while delivery language said Trimmer deliveries start in August.
Accordingly, treat $699–$799 as dated official-page signals, not a guaranteed current price. Check the checkout total, stock status and delivery estimate directly at the dedicated product page, edge-detail collection and alternate product-page view.

Yarbo presents the Trimmer as complementary to mowing, not as a mower replacement. A battery handheld trimmer remains more flexible for steep banks, tight corners and one-off cleanup.

What “fully autonomous” may require in practice
Owner posts on Yarbo’s forum describe issues that a launch demonstration would not reveal. Reports include aggressive reversing or difficult turns, path planning that appears not to account fully for the attachment, limited side reach, false “vehicle detected” or “human detected” stops, and trouble near mulch beds, slopes and no-go-zone edges. Some owners said the head dug into beds or the arm became stuck on slopes. These are self-selected, anecdotal reports—not controlled tests or proof that every unit behaves this way.
- Reach: One report said the Core had to run very close to the boundary to keep the head on the intended line.
- Turns and reversing: The attachment changes the robot’s effective footprint and can make tight maneuvers harder.
- No-go zones: Reports mention needing particular edge-mowing and buffer settings, including a zero buffer in some situations. Confirm the current app and firmware guidance before relying on this near beds or structures.
- Terrain: Slopes, soft mulch, uneven ground and sharp inside corners appear more demanding than long, flat borders.
- Runtime: A user report suggested that an active line outside cutting sections may reduce runtime; this is not an official battery specification.
Yarbo representatives have acknowledged feedback and said it would go to the development team, but the available material does not establish that every reported issue has been fixed. Relevant reports include first impressions, operational issues, attachment-aware path-planning concerns and line, mapping and route reports.

Before trusting it unattended
- Start with an open, straight border. Run supervised passes and watch turns, reversing, obstacle responses and the actual cut line.
- Inspect the edge. Look for missed grass, scalping, disturbed soil or damaged edging.
- Test slopes and corners separately. Do not assume flat-border performance transfers to a hillside or tight inside corner.
- Confirm no-go-zone behavior. Verify current edge-mowing and buffer controls in the Yarbo app.
- Check the line system. Inspect for jams, unusual wear and unexpected consumption.
- Test docking and resumption. Confirm that the Core can recharge and continue the task reliably.
- Keep a manual fallback. A handheld trimmer remains useful for missed areas and recovery work.

Alternatives for edge work
A conventional battery trimmer offers immediate control and simpler recovery. Product ranges from EGO Power+, STIHL and Husqvarna cover manual options for tight corners, slopes and occasional cleanup. Professional lawn care removes equipment ownership and software setup but introduces recurring service cost and scheduling dependence.

Verdict
The Yarbo Trimmer is a significant extension of a modular robot platform: it targets the finishing work that robot mowers routinely leave behind and could be valuable on large properties with predictable, robot-friendly borders. It is not a complete robot, however. The Core and BBM are required, current official pricing has ranged from $699 to $799 after a $499 launch announcement, and availability messaging has varied.
Buy it when you already own a compatible Core, have substantial repetitive edging and can supervise setup and early runs. For a small or difficult yard—or for anyone demanding mature, independently verified set-and-forget performance—a conventional trimmer or lawn service remains the lower-risk choice.
