Xiaomi launched the MIJIA Smart Fragrance Machine Set in China in December 2022. It pairs a three-cartridge scent dispenser with MIJIA app controls, battery operation and a ring-shaped ambient light advertised to support up to 16 million colors. That figure describes a range of RGB colors—not 16 million lighting modes—and the machine is a fragrance accessory, not a humidifier or air purifier.
What Xiaomi launched—and when
The MIJIA Smart Fragrance Machine Set was introduced through Xiaomi’s China crowdfunding platform. A launch report published on December 19, 2022, said crowdfunding was scheduled to open on December 21. MIJIA is Xiaomi’s smart-home product ecosystem, and the “set” refers to a scent machine supplied with fragrance cartridges, not a standalone lamp. Launch coverage described it as a cartridge-based fragrance dispenser with integrated ambient lighting.

The reported crowdfunding price was 369 yuan, with a planned regular price of 499 yuan. Those are historical China launch prices, not verified current prices or U.S. retail pricing.

How the three-cartridge fragrance system works
The reported configuration includes three perfume-grade replacement cartridges, each with 10 concentration levels. Users can adjust intensity and combine the cartridge scents. Xiaomi advertised more than 1,000 possible fragrance combinations; that is a manufacturer claim based on available settings, not an independently verified count of distinct, perceptible scents.

In practical terms, intensity is how strongly the machine dispenses scent, while blending is the selection or combination of scents from the installed cartridges. It does not make arbitrary perfume from raw ingredients. Launch coverage also said Xiaomi described the fragrances as custom scents supplied by a Swiss fragrance company with a 250-year history. The supplier’s identity, formulas, allergen details and independent safety testing were not established in the available reporting.
What “16 million colors” means
The machine has a ring-shaped ambient light advertised as adjustable across up to 16 million colors. That is an RGB color-range specification or marketing description—not 16 million separately named effects or scenes. The light is intended to create room ambience alongside fragrance; there are no reported independent measurements of brightness, color accuracy or light output. It should not be treated as a replacement for functional room lighting.
App control, routines and door-triggered activation
Reported features include MIJIA app control, preset fragrance combinations and ambience scenarios described as natural wake-up, immersive reading, efficient exercise, and relaxation or sleep aid. These are use-case labels, not evidence that the product improves sleep, mood, exercise performance or health.

Launch reporting also mentioned activation when a door opens. That describes a possible smart-home automation, not proof that the machine has a built-in door sensor. A door-triggered routine may depend on a separate sensor and compatible MIJIA setup; the available sources do not establish the exact sensor, gateway, app-region or cloud requirements.
Wireless use and practical unknowns
The launch report said the unit can run plugged in or wirelessly for up to eight hours. Treat that as reported battery guidance, not a guaranteed runtime: scent output, lighting, connectivity and operating conditions may affect endurance. The cited coverage does not establish battery capacity, charging connector or time, cartridge lifespan, room coverage, noise level, or scent-dispersion rate.
That missing information matters when assessing ownership cost. The machine’s purchase price is only part of the calculation if it depends on proprietary refills. The launch report confirms three cartridges in the set, but does not establish a current replacement-cartridge catalog, price or availability in a particular country.

The more precise description is smart fragrance machine or cartridge-based scent dispenser. The available launch description does not establish that it uses water or meaningfully increases humidity. It should not be assumed to purify air, accept arbitrary essential oils, or deliver medical or therapeutic benefits. Anyone with fragrance sensitivity, asthma, allergies, pets or young children should check the actual cartridge ingredients and manufacturer guidance rather than infer safety from phrases such as “perfume-grade.”

The original launch was a China crowdfunding release. No reliable evidence in the cited material establishes an official U.S. launch or broad international retail availability. Xiaomi’s China store has a listing for the original MIJIA Smart Fragrance Machine Set, but a China product page does not establish that it ships to the United States or works with every MIJIA app region.
Do not confuse that 2022 model with later listings. Xiaomi separately lists a MIJIA Smart Fragrance Machine Plant Extract Series and the newer MIJIA Automatic Fragrance Machine 2 (also listed here). The available evidence does not establish that these models share hardware, lighting features or interchangeable cartridges with the original.
For an imported unit, confirm before buying:
- Whether the exact model can be added to your MIJIA app region and whether the app supports the necessary language.
- Whether routines require a China-region server, a separate sensor or another smart-home component.
- Whether the included power adapter suits local electrical standards.
- Whether compatible replacement cartridges can be shipped to you, and at what ongoing cost.
- What warranty and return terms apply in your country.
Who might find it useful?
It may suit someone already using Xiaomi’s China-region smart-home ecosystem who wants app-controlled, cartridge-based scent blending with an ambient-light feature and has confirmed refill access. It is a less straightforward choice for a buyer who needs local warranty support, open essential-oil compatibility, predictable consumable costs, or a verified U.S. retail channel. For many prospective owners, region compatibility and cartridge supply matter more than the headline color count.
