Xiaomi announced the MIJIA Washing Machine Mini 1kg in China on September 27, 2021. Its introductory price was ¥1,099, compared with a reported regular price of ¥1,299. The compact washer offered a 1 kg capacity and a high-temperature cycle reaching 90°C, but it was designed for small personal-garment loads—not as a replacement for a household washing machine. The roughly $170 figure was a currency conversion, not a U.S. retail price.
A small second washer, not a family machine
Sold under the Chinese name 米家 Mini 洗衣机 1kg, the MIJIA Mini was pitched as a dedicated washer for underwear, baby clothes and other small loads. Xiaomi said it occupied about 0.16 m², making it compact enough for a bathroom, balcony or utility area. Its 1 kg capacity is the key limitation: it is suited to a few personal garments or a small daily load, not normal family laundry, bedding or a week’s worth of clothes.
Launch coverage also gave examples such as roughly 10 towels, but that should not be taken to mean any 10 towels will fit or wash well; weight, material and dimensions matter. The washer has no reported drying function. Despite the small footprint, installation still requires suitable water supply and drainage, a stable level surface, electrical connection and clearance for the lid and vibration.
What the 90°C setting does—and does not mean
The washer was reported to have four temperature choices: 90°C high-temperature boil-wash, 60°C mite-removal and anti-allergy washing, 40°C stain-removal washing, and room-temperature washing for cotton and color protection. The 90°C setting applies to that selected program, not every wash. High heat is not automatically better: check garment care labels, especially for elastic, lace, wool, silk, printed items and technical fabrics that may be damaged by it.

Launch reports attributed several hygiene results to manufacturer-associated testing: up to 99.99% removal of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli in a specified sanitizing cycle; about 99.3% removal of Candida albicans in an underwear program; and about 99.9% mite-removal and 99.8% pollen-allergen removal under specified 60°C and baby-wash conditions. These are reported results for particular programs and conditions, not guarantees for every load or environment. The underlying laboratory reports and full test conditions are not available in the cited coverage, and a removal rate is not the same as proving clothing medically sterile. “Baby clothing” is an intended use, not a pediatric safety endorsement.
Programs and connected features
Reports listed 16 washing and care programs, including 10 special-stain options for examples such as baby food, soil, chocolate, collars and cooking stains. An advertised quick cycle took about 24 minutes, though actual cycle time can vary with conditions. Mijia/Mi Home app control, OTA updates and smart-home interconnection were also reported, along with XiaoAI voice control in Chinese-market coverage. App region, account, firmware, language and feature support may vary; do not assume Chinese-market integrations work in another region’s app setup.

Launch price and availability
The announced first-sale price was ¥1,099, with a reported regular price of ¥1,299. Sales were scheduled to begin in China at 10 a.m. on October 1, 2021, through Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, JD.com and Tmall. Contemporary English-language coverage converted the promotional price to approximately $170. That conversion is not a U.S. MSRP and says nothing about import costs, voltage or plug compatibility, warranty coverage or official U.S. distribution. As of August 18, 2026, Xiaomi’s Chinese shopping page still identifies the product, but the page does not establish current stock, price or international availability. A listing alone is not proof that a buyer can order it today or receive local service. Before considering an imported unit, confirm the exact model, shipping destination, electrical compatibility, warranty, returns, app-region support and access to replacement parts. Who might find it useful?
- Potential fit: someone who routinely washes very small personal or baby-clothing loads separately, has room and plumbing for a second appliance, and can use the compatible Xiaomi ecosystem.
- Poor fit: a household needing a primary washer, anyone expecting a dryer, or a buyer who needs locally supported voltage, warranty, returns and spare parts.
- Trade-off: specialized small-load convenience and a high-temperature option in exchange for very limited capacity, extra installation and appliance upkeep, and China-market purchasing uncertainties.
Readers may also encounter newer Mijia mini washer-dryer models. Those are different products: a 2025 report, for example, describes a 1.2 kg washer-dryer with a drying function.
