Xiaomi announced the MIJIA Full-Effect Air Purifier in China on March 21, 2023. It was priced from RMB 3,699, with the first sale scheduled for March 31. Launch coverage reported 12,500 liters per minute of airflow, seven purification stages and a claimed 99.99% virus-removal result. That percentage is a Xiaomi-reported test claim—not proof that the purifier removes every virus from a home or prevents infection.
Price, launch date and availability
The MIJIA Full-Effect Air Purifier was a China-market product announced on March 21, 2023. The reported starting price was RMB 3,699, and Xiaomi planned the first sale for March 31, 2023. The launch report is historical; it does not establish a current resale price.
No source reviewed confirms an official United States or wider international launch for this exact model. Xiaomi’s current international pages feature different products, including the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 and Mijia Air Purifier Max.

Seven purification stages
The reported system combines different types of treatment rather than relying on one filter medium:
- Primary filter: the first mechanical stage for larger dust and particles.
- Durable filter: a longer-life filtration stage identified by the launch report, although its construction and efficiency class were not specified.
- High-energy plasma field: intended to affect airborne microorganisms or particles under the device’s operating conditions.
- Carbon array: carbon media can adsorb some gases and odors until the media becomes loaded.
- Aldehyde filter: intended to target formaldehyde and related chemical pollutants.
- UV module: ultraviolet treatment can contribute to microbial inactivation when wavelength, dose and exposure time are sufficient.
- Self-cleaning filter: this describes a design feature, not a promise that filters never need inspection or replacement.
The available launch material does not state the filter class, UV wavelength, plasma operating parameters, ozone performance, safety certifications or replacement schedule. Those details should be confirmed in the correct Chinese manual before purchase.
What “99.99% virus removal” does—and does not—prove
The headline figure should be read as: Xiaomi claimed a 99.99% virus-removal result under test conditions that were not specified in the launch report.

The report does not identify:
- the virus or viruses tested;
- whether the measurement covered removal from air, inactivation on a filter, or both;
- test duration, chamber volume or starting concentration;
- fan speed and whether plasma or UV functions were enabled;
- the laboratory, report number or sample status; or
- whether the result applies to every operating mode.
Consequently, the claim should not be rewritten as “kills 99.99% of all viruses,” “sterilizes a room,” or “prevents COVID-19.” A purifier can reduce some virus-containing particles in recirculated air, but household protection also depends on ventilation, air mixing, doors and windows, occupancy, source control and other infection-control measures.
Xiaomi’s later Mijia Air Purifier Max page shows what stronger qualification looks like: it names H1N1, specifies a one-hour test, identifies testing bodies and supplies report numbers. Those details are not provided for the 2023 Full-Effect launch claim.
Formaldehyde and odor performance
The reported 99.05% formaldehyde-removal rate is also a controlled-test claim, not a guarantee for every occupied home. Results can change with the initial concentration, room volume, temperature, humidity, air-exchange rate, fan setting and the age of the aldehyde and carbon media. Ongoing emissions from flooring, furniture, adhesives, paint or cabinetry can also overwhelm a purifier’s removal rate.

Airflow is not the same as CADR
At 12,500 L/min, the reported air-volume figure sounds substantial, but airflow alone does not describe how much clean air the machine delivers after filtration. CADR accounts for both air movement and pollutant-removal performance. The launch material does not provide a conventional particle CADR for this model, so the 12,500 L/min figure should not be converted into one.
The claim of treating a 90 m² area in 17 minutes is therefore best understood as a Xiaomi-defined estimate under unspecified conditions. In a real room, open doors, drafts, furniture, uneven mixing and continuous particle generation can lengthen the time needed to reduce concentrations.
Noise and bedroom use
The reported noise level was 30.7 dB, described as suitable for sleeping. That number may represent a sleep or low-speed setting. Sound depends on measurement distance, room acoustics and method, and maximum-speed operation will normally be louder. It should not be presented as the noise level at every setting.

Importing a China-market unit
Anyone considering an imported machine should verify practical support before paying:
- Whether the Mi Home app requires the mainland-China region and Chinese-language setup.
- Plug type and electrical voltage compatibility for the destination country.
- Availability and delivered cost of replacement filters.
- Warranty coverage, repair arrangements and return costs.
- Whether local voice-assistant features and notifications work with the imported region.
- Clearance requirements around the intake and exhaust, using the correct manual.
These are buying checks, not confirmed faults of every unit. A “self-cleaning” feature does not remove the need to monitor dust loading, chemical-media saturation and filter-life indicators.
Do not confuse it with later Mijia purifiers
Similar names conceal materially different products:

The later models’ CADR, coverage and test figures must not be assigned retroactively to the 2023 Full-Effect model.
Who should consider it?
The Full-Effect model may appeal to buyers seeking a large-room Xiaomi ecosystem device, high reported airflow, sensor monitoring and a broad combination of particle, gas, plasma, UV and aldehyde-focused technologies. The strongest reasons for caution are the unspecified test evidence, uncertain international support, undocumented ownership costs and the difference between airflow and verified CADR.
Readers whose priority is documented infection-control performance should look for a named test organism, protocol, laboratory report, CADR, filter availability and safety documentation rather than choosing on the 99.99% headline alone. For many international buyers, an officially supported local model with dependable replacement filters may be more practical than importing this China launch product.
