Xiaomi’s Mijia Smart Microwave Steam Oven is a 27-liter countertop combination appliance, not a steam oven alone: it brings together microwave cooking, steaming, hot-air baking and air frying. It may suit a small kitchen that will use several of those modes, but the 1,999-yuan figure was a China pre-sale price in 2023—not a confirmed current or international price—and the available launch coverage does not establish that it outperforms separate appliances.
What Xiaomi launched
The product’s Chinese name, 米家智能微蒸烤一体机, describes a Mijia microwave-steam-oven combination. Chinese reports announced pre-sale on May 23, 2023, at 1,999 yuan, with sale reporting around June 1. Those dates and price refer to its China launch; they do not establish current pricing or availability elsewhere. The reported capacity is 27 liters. Coverage also lists a 1.32-inch OLED control knob, a 304 stainless-steel interior, Mi Home/Xiaomi Home connectivity, NFC recipe access, XiaoAI voice control and more than 100 smart recipes, the latter a Xiaomi-reported feature claim. Exact mode lists and connected functions can depend on firmware and market.

What it can cook—and what remains unproven
Launch coverage describes variable-frequency microwave cooking, pure steaming, hot-air baking, air frying and combined cooking modes. It also mentions direct-injection steam and three-dimensional hot-air baking. That breadth could reduce the number of appliances on a counter, but feature lists do not demonstrate equal performance to a dedicated microwave, steamer, oven or air fryer.

What “smart” means in daily use
The reported controls include a physical OLED knob as well as app control, NFC-triggered recipe access, XiaoAI voice commands and guided recipes. These features may be useful for people already using Xiaomi’s ecosystem, especially if they want recipe discovery or remote monitoring. The knob also provides a local control interface without relying on an app for every interaction.
Do not assume the connected features work identically outside China. App, NFC, voice-assistant and recipe services may depend on a China-region account, compatible devices, Chinese-language services, firmware and network access. The launch reporting does not confirm overseas support.

A 27-liter cavity offers more room than a compact mini oven, but capacity alone does not tell you whether your cookware or usual portions will fit. Check the usable interior and accessory dimensions against the dishes you actually use; the cited launch reporting does not provide reliable external dimensions, rack configuration or a confirmed cookware-size limit.
Measure counter space and ventilation clearance before choosing any countertop oven. A larger multi-mode appliance can save space compared with several separate devices, but it still needs room to operate and open safely. If you routinely roast large items or cook on multiple racks, a full-size oven may remain necessary.

Costs and practical trade-offs
The case for a combination appliance is strongest when it replaces devices you would otherwise use regularly. If you steam and bake often, the counter-space savings and fewer separate appliances may matter. If you mainly reheat food, a dedicated microwave may be simpler and better value. If you already own a capable microwave, oven and air fryer, the Mijia’s extra modes may duplicate equipment rather than replace it.
- Water and cleaning: Steam can leave condensation and mineral deposits. Hard-water users may need appropriate water and periodic descaling, but the cited launch material does not establish an official maintenance interval for this model. Clean grease and food residue before switching to delicate foods to reduce flavor transfer.
- Safe operation: Take care when opening the door after steaming because hot vapor can escape. Use microwave-safe cookware in microwave mode, and follow the instructions for any metal accessories and mode combinations.
- Capacity and crowding: Overfilling can compromise airflow and cooking results, particularly for air frying and baking. The advertised capacity does not establish performance with a full cavity.
