The name “Mijia Water Purifier Pro” refers most often to Xiaomi’s China-market under-sink reverse-osmosis systems—the Dual-Outlet 1200G (MR1292) and 1600G (MR1692), reported in April 2025. They are not the same appliance as the globally sold Xiaomi Smart Filtered Water Dispenser Pro, a countertop RO unit with tanks and instant heating. Confirm the model, region, filter supply and installation requirements before buying; for imported units, supportability is often a bigger risk than the headline flow rate.
First, identify which “Pro” you are looking at
Retail listings frequently mix two different products. The Chinese Mijia models are permanent under-sink purifiers. The global Smart Filtered Water Dispenser Pro sits on a counter and dispenses hot or cold water from refillable tanks.

The April 2025 launch report lists the 1200G and 1600G at RMB 2,599 and RMB 2,999 respectively, with expected shipment from May 8, 2025. Those are China launch prices, not current US retail prices. See the original specifications at IT之家.

These are reverse-osmosis (RO) systems, not simple carbon taste filters. Sediment and carbon stages protect the RO membrane; the membrane reduces dissolved solids and can reduce many contaminants, including some heavy metals, when operated under the conditions for which the system was designed. Any post-treatment is intended to improve taste or stabilize the water. RO also creates a concentrated reject-water stream.

Performance depends on incoming chemistry, pressure, temperature, membrane condition, cartridge age and installation. A “purified” label does not mean universally contaminant-free, and a low total-dissolved-solids (TDS) reading is not a complete safety test. The available launch material does not establish independent contaminant testing, NSF/ANSI certification or a remineralization stage for the 1200G/1600G. Ask for the exact test method, influent concentration, reduction percentage and certification covering the complete appliance.
Why there are two outlets
The dual-outlet design reportedly provides one route for drinking and cooking water and another for utility water such as washing. That can prevent every household task from using RO-treated water. It also adds plumbing connections, so the installer must clearly identify purified, utility and reject lines. Dual outlets do not prove that RO reject water is eliminated.
1200G versus 1600G: the published numbers
The “G” designation is a nominal RO-production class, generally expressed as gallons per day under specified laboratory conditions. It is not a guaranteed tap flow in every home. The following figures are manufacturer or launch-report specifications, not independent measurements.

On paper, the 1600G’s principal advantage is faster stated purified-water production. It is not evidence of healthier water: the available specifications do not show that its water quality is superior to the 1200G’s. Real flow can fall with low pressure, cold feed water, high TDS, restricted tubing, clogged prefilters, an aging membrane or an incorrect drain installation.
Wastewater: do not infer a ratio from the flow rating
The supplied product information does not establish a reliable recovery or waste ratio for either under-sink model. Reject volume varies with pressure, temperature, membrane design and operating mode. Before installation, ask where reject water will go—a drain, storage vessel or reuse line—and whether local plumbing rules require an air gap or backflow protection. A utility-water outlet may make reuse more practical, but it is not the same as claiming zero waste.
Installation is a plumbing project
Treat the Mijia units as under-sink plumbing appliances rather than plug-and-play gadgets. Confirm the following before ordering:

- Cabinet dimensions, service clearance and a nearby electrical outlet.
- Correct faucet, purified-water, utility-water and reject-water routing.
- Drain connection and any required air gap or backflow protection.
- Local electrical and plumbing-code compliance.
- Availability of an installer familiar with the exact MR1292 or MR1692 manual.
The available sources do not verify connector sizes, hose colors or a complete installation sequence for each Chinese-market version, so those details must come from the model-specific manual. After installation, run the system while monitoring every fitting; place dry paper beneath connections to reveal small leaks and consider a leak sensor or automatic shutoff.
Filters and the real maintenance obligation
The Chinese launch coverage describes a six-year long-life RO cartridge and reports a suggested price of RMB 1,299 for that cartridge. This is a stated rating for the RO cartridge, not a promise that the whole filter train will run six years without service. Sediment and carbon prefilters can load sooner, and actual life depends on hardness, chlorine, sediment, pressure, temperature and daily volume. The reported 25,000-L and 6,500-L capacities are usage figures, not universal time guarantees.
A replacement listing for the Mijia Dual-Core 1200G Pro filter appears on Xiaomi’s China store. Verify that a genuine cartridge is available for your exact model and that shipping, import tax and warranty support are acceptable. Generic cartridges may not match the membrane, firmware, seals or certification.

Smart features: useful only if the regional software works
Launch coverage reports app connectivity for the under-sink models, but it does not establish a complete interface or worldwide compatibility. For an imported unit, verify Mi Home/Xiaomi Home region selection, language, Wi-Fi band support, filter notifications, leak alerts, remote shutoff, firmware updates and household sharing. An app filter counter is a maintenance aid, not a laboratory measurement of water quality.

The Smart Filtered Water Dispenser Pro is a different product. Xiaomi describes six-stage filtration using folded PP cotton, activated carbon, scale inhibitor, RO membrane, charcoal fiber and non-woven fabric. Its global page lists a 4.4-liter source-water tank, a 1.8-liter wastewater compartment, UV treatment for the purified-water tank and a 2,100-W instant heater. Xiaomi support also describes a 1.2-liter purified-water tank, app-adjustable temperatures from 40–95°C in 1°C increments and dispensing volumes from 80–1,000 ml.
It needs no plumbing: fill the tank, connect power and operate it. The trade-off is regular refilling, tank cleaning and countertop space. UV treatment can inhibit growth in the tank; it does not make dirty tanks, containers or hands irrelevant. Xiaomi says the two cartridges have a maximum replacement cycle of 365 days and documents replacement and flushing steps in its filter-installation FAQ. Its UK FAQ notes that voice control is unsupported and that Wi-Fi pairing can fail when a password contains special characters; see Xiaomi’s support details.

Regional buying checks
China-market Mijia appliances can differ from global products in voltage and plug, app region, language, cloud connectivity, warranty, service and replacement-filter availability. The official 1200G buying page is a China listing at Xiaomi China; it does not establish US availability or US pricing. Do not assume that a familiar logo means local certification or support.
- Confirm the model number (MR1292 or MR1692), included faucet and installation kit.
- Check electrical rating and plug compatibility for your country.
- Obtain written evidence of acceptable local certifications and food-contact materials.
- Price genuine replacement filters and importer shipping before purchase.
- Confirm who handles leaks, warranty claims and service visits.
Which option makes sense?
Choose the under-sink Mijia Pro when
- You want a permanent kitchen installation and high stated flow.
- Separate drinking and utility-water paths are useful.
- You can verify plumbing, electrical and certification requirements.
- Genuine cartridges and competent service are reliably available.
Choose the countertop dispenser when
- You rent or cannot modify plumbing.
- Instant hot-water dispensing and app temperature presets matter.
- You accept tank refilling, cleaning and annual cartridge replacement.
- Xiaomi officially sells and supports the model in your market.
Choose neither when
- You cannot source compatible filters or acceptable certification.
- Your home lacks a suitable drain, pressure, outlet or leak-protection plan.
- You only need chlorine and taste reduction, for which a locally supported carbon filter may be simpler.
- You will not manage RO reject water or imported-product service risk.
The Bottom Line
The Mijia Water Purifier Pro 1200G and 1600G are credible high-flow RO concepts, but their practical value depends on installation quality, reject-water planning, genuine filter access and regional support. Buy only after confirming the exact model and its local electrical, plumbing, certification and warranty implications. If you need a no-plumbing solution, evaluate the separately named Xiaomi Smart Filtered Water Dispenser Pro instead.
