Xiaomi introduced the Mijia Smart Range Hood P2 in China in September 2024, with sales announced for October 9 that year. The appliance combines conventional cooking-fume extraction with claimed PM2.5 purification, environmental sensing and HyperOS Connect features. It is a China-market product in the available evidence: an international launch, local warranty and compatibility outside China have not been established.
What is the Mijia Smart Range Hood P2?
Xiaomi’s Chinese name for the product, 米家智能净烟机P2, describes a smoke-purifying hood. The P2 is presented as more than a conventional range hood: it is designed to capture cooking fumes near the hob while adding particle purification, monitoring and connected controls.
That positioning does not make it equivalent to a standalone room air purifier, nor does it establish that it can replace properly designed kitchen ventilation. A hood’s effectiveness depends on its installation, ductwork, operating conditions and maintenance. Xiaomi’s launch claims should not be read as proof that the appliance eliminates all smoke or cooking odors.

These are specifications reported in coverage of the 2024 launch, rather than figures verified here against an accessible English Xiaomi specification sheet. Airflow and static pressure are different measures: 11 m³/min is not a guarantee of that airflow in every installation, and it should not be assumed to occur simultaneously with the maximum pressure figure. Duct resistance, layout and operating mode affect real-world performance. Likewise, 64 dB(A) is a reported maximum, not the sound level at every setting.

Smoke capture, purification and odor claims
Launch coverage describes a cyclone smoke-lock system, rear-tilt suction and an air-curtain barrier intended to limit fumes escaping around the cooking area. The product is also reported to offer a maximum suction wind speed of 15 m/s. These are design descriptions and manufacturer claims; the available evidence does not include standardized capture-efficiency testing, comparative kitchen measurements or results across different burner and duct arrangements.
Xiaomi’s reported purification claims include up to 97% PM2.5 removal and up to 91% inhibition of bacterial growth, alongside ion-based antibacterial treatment and real-time PM2.5 monitoring. The source material does not identify the test laboratory, protocol, duration, starting concentration or whether the figures describe a test chamber, air passing through the appliance or a whole room. They should not be treated as guaranteed household results.
Smoke particles, grease, odors and ventilation are related but distinct issues. PM2.5 removal does not, by itself, demonstrate removal of gas-phase odor compounds. The launch information available does not provide a documented odor-removal rate or specify which odor compounds were tested. The careful conclusion is that the P2 is marketed for smoke and odor purification, while independently validated odor-elimination performance is not established.

The P2 is reported to support Xiaomi HyperOS Connect, the connectivity layer intended to link compatible Xiaomi devices and enable sensor-based adjustments and smart-home controls. HyperOS is not the purification mechanism; it is the software and ecosystem component.

Do not assume that every feature works in every country. Xiaomi Home device catalogs, automations and connected services can depend on account region, app version, firmware and language. A China-market appliance may require a China-region Xiaomi Home account and may not appear in a local catalog. The available reporting does not establish the P2’s supported Wi-Fi bands, international server compatibility, update policy or voice-assistant support. CO and gas-leak alerts are reported features, but no evidence here establishes them as certified life-safety alarms; they should not replace locally approved carbon-monoxide or combustible-gas detectors.
China launch price and sales date
Launch coverage reported a standard price of 4,299 yuan, a limited introductory price of 3,599 yuan, and a 4,599-yuan bundle with a gas stove. The stated China sales date was October 9, 2024, at 8 p.m. China time. The lower figure was a launch promotion, not a confirmed ongoing price. Xiaomi continues to show China commerce listings for the product, including its official China purchase page, but the available page information does not establish a current price or immediate stock status.

The evidence confirms Xiaomi China listings and the original China sales announcement; it does not establish an official US, European or broader global launch. Nor does it confirm international warranty coverage, installation service, replacement parts or local Xiaomi Home support.
The reported 220 V, 50 Hz supply is a major practical constraint for buyers in the United States, where standard household circuits are generally 120 V. Do not assume a plug adapter or simple conversion makes the appliance suitable: consult a licensed electrician and qualified installer before considering an imported unit. Confirm the required circuit, duct outlet and diameter, clearances, mounting support, exhaust route, permitted building configuration, filter availability and local service options. At 33.5 kg and nearly 900 mm wide, this is a substantial fixed appliance, not a countertop purifier.

Even within compatible electrical systems, installation matters. Long or restrictive ducts can reduce airflow; shared high-rise exhausts can create back-pressure or odor backflow; open-plan layouts and cross-drafts may make source capture harder. Grease buildup can affect filters, sensors, fans and ducts, so the purification features do not remove the need for cleaning and maintenance.
How it compares with other kitchen-air options
- Ducted range hood: Captures fumes at the source and exhausts them outdoors when the home has suitable ducting. A locally supported conventional hood may be the more practical choice where the P2’s voltage, installation or warranty cannot be verified.
- Recirculating hood: Uses filters to return air to the kitchen rather than venting outdoors. Check the filter type and replacement schedule; recirculation should not be assumed to remove every pollutant or odor.
- Standalone room purifier: Can supplement adequate kitchen ventilation, but it is not designed to collect grease at the hob or replace source capture. Xiaomi’s US Smart Air Purifier 4 is a separate product category with its own published CADR and coverage figures; those metrics do not apply to the P2.
For a buyer outside China, local voltage compatibility, compliant exhaust installation, parts and service are more consequential than the P2’s smart features. Consider the P2 only if a seller and qualified local professionals can confirm those details, as well as app-region compatibility and warranty terms. For gas cooking, use a properly installed hood and locally approved CO and gas alarms; neither a hood’s reported sensors nor a separate room purifier is a substitute for certified safety equipment.
Who might consider it?
The P2 is most plausible for a China-based buyer who already uses Xiaomi Home, can install the appliance in a compatible kitchen, and values integrated sensing alongside extraction. It is a poor fit for someone seeking a plug-and-play appliance abroad, a renter unable to modify ductwork, or a buyer who needs independently documented odor-removal performance. Before purchase, ask for the product manual and test documentation, verify duct and electrical requirements, and check the availability and cost of filters, repairs and installation.
