Xiaomi launched its Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain system in China in March 2025, with the motor designed to sit inside a curtain box for a cleaner look. Launch coverage reports a 5.5 cm motor height, a ¥599 starting price and app, voice, remote, schedule and manual-pull controls. That does not make it a confirmed US product: buyers elsewhere should verify the exact model, Xiaomi Home region, installation requirements and warranty before ordering.
What Xiaomi launched
The Mijia Hidden Smart Curtain is a motorized curtain system, not simply a universal gadget that clips onto any existing rod. Its concealed motor is intended to work with a track installed in or near a recessed curtain box. Available launch coverage describes single- and dual-curtain arrangements, but does not establish whether every listing includes the track, fabric, remote or installation service. Xiaomi’s China store has several similarly named product and bundle listings, so compare the exact model and package contents rather than relying on the broad product name.
The reported launch price was ¥599. Treat that as a launch-price signal, not the guaranteed cost of a finished window. Track length, number of motors, fabric, measuring, installation, shipping and import charges may add to the total. Gizmochina’s launch report provides the published launch details; Xiaomi’s China product listing confirms a retail listing but does not establish a dependable current US price or US distribution.

These figures come from launch reporting rather than independent product testing. The available information does not settle the maximum track length, the precise load basis, or whether the rail is included in each bundle.

What “hidden” means for a construction project
The concealment is mainly about placing the motor inside a curtain box or another suitable recessed area. It can reduce visible hardware, but it does not guarantee that the track, wiring, power supply or every mounting component will be invisible. The cleanest result is most practical when planned during construction or renovation, or when a suitable recess already exists.
Measure the box’s internal dimensions, not just its visible opening. Allow room for the motor, track, mounting hardware, cable routing, curtain folds and access for future service. A motor hidden behind a permanently closed finish may be difficult to inspect or replace; plan an access panel or another serviceable route. A retrofit may require carpentry, electrical planning or a new compatible track. Do not assume the motor will fit or work with an existing rod or rail.

Controls and smart-home compatibility
Launch coverage lists app operation, voice control, a dedicated remote, schedules, partial opening by percentage and manual-pull activation. Those options are useful in different ways: a remote or manual pull can provide direct operation, while app schedules and away-from-home control depend on successful setup and the relevant account and network services.
“Voice control” should not be read as a promise of compatibility with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri or English-language commands. The available information does not identify the supported assistants for every version, explain the current app pairing flow, or establish whether this motor connects directly over Wi-Fi or requires a Xiaomi gateway. Confirm the exact model’s protocol, hub requirement, supported Xiaomi Home server region and assistant integrations before purchase. App labels and feature availability can differ across countries and device versions.

Pre-purchase checklist
- Confirm the package: Check whether the listing includes motor, track, remote, curtain fabric, measuring and installation, or only some of them.
- Measure the recess: Check usable height and depth, track space, cable route and service access—not just the visible curtain-box dimensions.
- Check the load: Weigh the curtain arrangement as installed, including blackout or thermal lining. Ask whether the 50 kg limit is for the whole window or each side, and avoid designing at the stated maximum.
- Verify the track and layout: Confirm track length, single- versus dual-curtain configuration, carriers, hooks and compatibility with the motor.
- Plan power safely: The available launch details do not establish the voltage, adapter, cable length or whether this version is hard-wired. Obtain the exact manual and have electrical work handled appropriately.
- Check the ecosystem: Ask about region, account server, gateway, firmware, language and voice-assistant support for the exact model.
- Confirm after-sales terms: For an import, establish warranty, returns, replacement-part availability, shipping costs and who will install or service it.
Availability outside China
The evidence supports a China-market launch and a Xiaomi China retail listing, not a confirmed US release. A China listing does not show that the device will appear in a US Xiaomi Home account, work with a US-region server, offer local-language voice control or receive local warranty and installation support. If considering an import, get the exact model number and written confirmation of app-region access, electrical requirements, gateway needs, return terms and service coverage before paying.
App-based remote features can also depend on account and cloud services. Xiaomi’s smart-home privacy documentation describes processing of information such as device identifiers, status, behavior, location and environmental data for relevant functions. Check the applicable terms for your region and consider whether local controls and schedules meet your needs if internet access is interrupted.

How it compares with retrofit options
The Mijia product’s main distinction is its concealed, track-based installation. Retrofit curtain drivers attach to compatible existing hardware and are generally easier to consider in a rental or finished room, but they leave hardware visible and carry different load and ecosystem trade-offs. These products are not like-for-like packages.

SwitchBot’s and Aqara’s stated load ratings are lower, but that does not show that the Xiaomi system is automatically quieter, faster or more reliable. Their installation types, bundles and ecosystem requirements differ. Check each manufacturer’s current specification for the precise version you plan to buy.
Who is it for?
Consider it if you are in mainland China or can access Xiaomi China support, are building or renovating with a suitable curtain box, and want a concealed installation within the Xiaomi Home ecosystem.
Look elsewhere or wait for confirmation if you rent, want to reuse an existing rod, need confirmed US warranty and returns, depend on a particular voice assistant or platform, or cannot arrange local installation and troubleshooting. For an existing compatible rod or U-rail, a retrofit product such as SwitchBot Curtain 3 may be more practical; Aqara Curtain Driver E1 may suit an Aqara setup if its hub requirement and load limit work for you.
