Xiaomi announced the MIJIA Faucet Water Purifier 2 for China in July 2024 at an introductory price of 119 yuan—about US$16 at the exchange rate cited in launch coverage. Sales were scheduled to begin on July 19, 2024. The faucet-mounted device offers filtered, unfiltered and spray modes, and its ceramic filter element can be cleaned. That does not make the whole cartridge washable indefinitely, however, or establish that the purifier makes water safe to drink in every location.
What launched—and where
The MIJIA Faucet Water Purifier 2, reported model number MJLTJSQDB01, is a non-electric purifier designed to attach to an existing faucet. Xiaomi’s 119-yuan figure was an introductory China launch price, not a verified current retail price for the United States or other markets. Contemporaneous launch reporting said it would go on sale in China on July 19, 2024.
Three water modes from a faucet attachment
A control knob switches between purified water, raw tap water and a shower or spray setting. The raw and spray modes let users reserve the filter for tasks where filtered water is wanted, rather than routing all faucet use through the cartridge. Treat raw and spray as unfiltered modes unless the product manual for the unit confirms otherwise. The reported maximum flow rate is up to 3.4 liters per minute; actual flow can vary with household pressure and filter condition.

What the five-layer filter is said to contain
Launch coverage and reproduced product documentation describe a five-layer composite filter made up of stainless-steel screening, a ceramic or diatom-mud element, coconut-shell activated carbon and non-woven fabric, with a further screening or pressure-control layer. Translations of the ceramic material vary between sources, so the descriptions should be read as reported product specifications rather than an independently verified materials analysis.
Xiaomi’s reported claims include reducing or removing mud and sediment, rust, colloids, residual chlorine, insect eggs and organic pollutants. These are manufacturer claims, not proof of performance against a particular contaminant in a particular home. The sources available for this model do not establish that it removes bacteria, viruses, lead, PFAS, arsenic, fluoride or every other substance a household might be concerned about. A sediment-and-carbon faucet filter is not automatically equivalent to reverse osmosis or a certified treatment system.
“Washable” means cleaning the ceramic surface—not renewing the whole filter
The visible ceramic element can be removed and cleaned when deposits clog its surface and reduce flow. A reproduced manual instructs users to rinse and gently scrub or polish the element, then rinse it thoroughly before reinstalling it. Follow the instructions supplied with the specific unit; avoid aggressive cleaning that could damage the media.

Cleaning may restore flow through a fouled surface, but it does not replenish activated carbon that has reached its adsorption limit, sterilize a cartridge or prove that its treatment capacity has returned. A cartridge that looks clean is not necessarily effective. Replace the filter according to the manual and water conditions rather than relying on appearance alone.
Replacement timing is not consistent across the available documentation. Launch coverage reported Xiaomi’s claim of up to six months per filter, while a reproduced manual recommends replacement at about three months, with actual life dependent on water quality and use. Treat six months as a claimed upper interval, not a universal guarantee.
Four cartridges were reported as included in the launch package. Four filters multiplied by six months gives a theoretical maximum of two years, but that arithmetic assumes each reaches the longest claimed interval. Heavy use, poor or sediment-laden water, clogging and the more conservative manual guidance can shorten the total. Second-generation replacement cartridges are reported to be incompatible with the first-generation model, so existing owners should verify the cartridge generation before ordering.

Fit and operating limits to check before buying
Reproduced documentation lists adapters for several faucet outlets, including M20, M22 and M24 variants, as well as a universal connector. That does not mean the unit fits every faucet. Compatibility depends on the outlet’s shape and thread, its aerator and the attachment design. Pull-down or spray-head faucets, proprietary outlets and faucets with integrated sensors can be difficult or impossible to fit. Xiaomi’s general faucet compatibility information also warns that some sensor faucets cannot be matched; check the exact outlet and adapter requirements for this model before ordering.

Another reproduced manual warns against water above about 45°C. Because these figures differ, use the stricter stated limit unless Xiaomi’s original instructions for the exact unit say otherwise. Do not assume the reported maximum flow rate will be achieved under low pressure or with a clogged cartridge.
Other reported specifications include dimensions of approximately 145.7 × 66 × 67 mm and weight of about 440 g. These figures, along with reported filtration-accuracy and adsorption values, come from product-documentation reproductions or reseller listings; they are not independent test results.

Does it make tap water safe to drink?
Not on the evidence available for this launch. The reported Xiaomi contaminant claims do not establish suitability for every water source or health concern, and the reviewed sources did not provide an independent laboratory report or establish U.S. certification for this exact model. Water safety depends on the contaminants present, the filter’s verified capability for those contaminants, correct installation and maintenance, and local conditions.
For municipal tap water, first check your water provider’s quality report and identify the specific issue you want to address. For well water or a known contamination concern, use test results and a treatment device certified for the relevant contaminant; do not assume this faucet attachment is appropriate. If taste or odor persists after installation and flushing as directed, follow the manual’s troubleshooting steps and replace the cartridge if called for rather than assuming that scrubbing the ceramic element will solve it.
Price, availability and practical value
The 119-yuan (about US$16 in contemporaneous coverage) price refers to the July 2024 China introduction. It should not be quoted as a current U.S. price. Launch reporting did not establish global availability, and a Xiaomi China product page confirms a product presence but does not, in the retrieved information, show a current price or purchase listing.

For buyers considering an import, the useful comparison is not just the initial price: check shipping, taxes and marketplace markup, return terms, warranty support, faucet fit and the ongoing cost and availability of the correct second-generation cartridges. The low launch price and four reported cartridges may look appealing, but the long-term value depends on cartridge sourcing and actual replacement intervals.
It may suit: a buyer in a market where the product and replacement filters are readily available, whose faucet is compatible, and who wants a simple attachment for addressing needs the manufacturer’s claims actually cover.
It is a poor fit: someone who needs documented removal of a particular health-related contaminant, requires local certification or warranty support, or cannot reliably obtain the matching replacement cartridges. In those cases, choose a system with credible, model-specific certification for the contaminant and installation requirements at issue.
