Xiaomi launched the Mijia Air Purifier 5 Pro in China on December 9, 2024, at an introductory price of ¥2,499. It combines a dual-fan design with claimed particle and formaldehyde cleaning performance, plus readings for formaldehyde, PM1, PM2.5, dust, temperature and humidity. Those are launch specifications, not independent test results; international availability and local replacement-filter support remain unclear.
What the Mijia Air Purifier 5 Pro offers
The 5 Pro is a large-room smart air purifier aimed at users who want both air cleaning and an onboard view of selected air-quality readings. Launch coverage describes it as Xiaomi’s first Mijia purifier with a dual-fan system. Xiaomi says the arrangement moves more air to help clean larger spaces, but higher fan speeds can also mean more noise and electricity use. The useful performance question is not simply how much air the fans move, but how much cleaned air the unit delivers at a tolerable setting.
What its monitoring features measure

The unit is reported to show status on its display and through the Mijia app. A sensor reading is an estimate, however; the available launch reporting does not establish its calibration quality or independent accuracy. Some coverage mentions pollen and a six-sensor arrangement, but the sensing method is not clearly documented. CO₂ measurement is not confirmed, so buyers needing CO₂ monitoring should not assume this purifier provides it.
How to interpret the performance claims

CADR, or clean air delivery rate, describes the rate of cleaned air delivered under test conditions. It is more useful for purifier comparisons than raw fan airflow, but a headline CADR does not guarantee a particular result in every home. Xiaomi’s older Mijia Air Purifier Pro specifications page explains CADR and an area calculation for that older model; it is not evidence that the 5 Pro was tested by the same method.

Launch reports also describe a three-minute air-renewal claim. Treat that as a scenario-specific marketing figure, not a promise that any room will be fully clean in three minutes. Room dimensions, ceiling height, open doors and windows, air mixing, purifier placement and ongoing pollution sources all matter. A purifier may circulate air quickly while leaving poorly mixed areas or continuously receiving pollutants.
Filtration, formaldehyde and UV-C
Launch coverage describes a six-layer composite filter, high-efficiency filter material, activated-carbon treatment, an antibacterial coating and UV-C treatment. It also reports a 99.99% removal claim for certain bacteria or viruses. These are company or launch-report claims; the available evidence does not independently verify them. UV-C inside an appliance acts on air passing through the unit and does not mean the whole room is exposed to germicidal UV or sterilized.
For renovation work, newly installed furniture, flooring, paint and adhesives can be continuing sources of volatile compounds, including formaldehyde. A sensor is not a substitute for identifying and reducing the source, following product curing and ventilation guidance, and seeking qualified measurement if concentrations are a serious concern. Activated carbon can adsorb some gaseous pollutants, but results depend on carbon quantity and composition, airflow, temperature, humidity, pollutant load and filter age. No purifier should be treated as a guarantee that formaldehyde has been eliminated.

App and smart-home features
Reported functions include Mijia/Xiaomi Home app monitoring and remote control, scheduling, automation, XiaoAI voice support and HyperOS Connect. Remote operation, viewing sensor readings, setting schedules and using readings as automation triggers are distinct capabilities; the available reporting does not establish that every reading can trigger every automation. Chinese-market app region, account, language and voice-assistant support may limit use abroad. Check these requirements before importing.

The announced ¥2,499 was an introductory China price from December 2024, not a current price or official US MSRP. Xiaomi has a China-market purchase page for the 5 Pro, but the current price is not established here. Xiaomi’s global smart-appliance presentation highlights the Mijia Smart Air Purifier 6 and says availability varies by region; it does not confirm a global or US launch of the 5 Pro. The product should therefore be described as launched in China, with international availability unclear.
Importers should verify electrical compatibility, seller authenticity, return terms and warranty coverage, as well as whether the app and device work with their account region. Replacement-filter supply is especially important: the reported up-to-12-month life and roughly ¥1.23-per-day maintenance estimate are not guaranteed ownership costs, and shipping, duties and local availability can change the economics. The 2024 yuan launch price should not be converted into a purported US retail price.

Who should consider it?
The 5 Pro may suit a China-based Xiaomi user who needs a high claimed particle CADR for a large space, wants formaldehyde readings and can reliably obtain filters. It is a less straightforward choice for buyers who require local warranty service, verified performance testing, confirmed CO₂ sensing, widely stocked filters or a clearly supported local-market model. Its headline monitoring breadth is useful context for room conditions, not a substitute for ventilation, source control or independent verification.
