Wyze’s Window Cam is a wired, indoor-only 1080p camera that mounts directly to the inside of a window, aiming to monitor a porch, driveway, or yard without drilling through an exterior wall. Wyze introduced it on November 25, 2025; it remains on sale in 2026. The U.S. price seen on August 16, 2026, was $34.98 for one camera or $59.98 for a two-pack. It can record locally without a subscription when you add a microSD card, but it still needs household power and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. It is not weatherproof, and its glare-reduction design cannot eliminate every reflection through glass.
What the Wyze Window Cam is—and when it launched
The Window Cam is a complete camera built for placement against the inside of a window and aimed outward. Its housing and optics are intended to reduce the glare and reflections that can make a conventional indoor camera difficult to use behind glass. That makes it a different product from Wyze’s older Window Mount, an accessory that adapts a compatible Wyze Cam v3 or v3 Pro for window use. Wyze explains the distinction here.
Wyze announced the Window Cam on November 25, 2025, and continued to list it in 2026. It is therefore more accurate to call it a recently introduced product than a camera newly launching in August or September 2026. It watches an outdoor scene from indoors; it is not an outdoor camera suitable for exposure to rain, dust, or temperature extremes.

Price and key specifications
On Wyze’s U.S. store, the price checked August 16, 2026, was $34.98 for a one-pack and $59.98 for a two-pack, listed as 14% off the $69.96 combined one-pack price. Stock, promotions, shipping, and regional availability can change. The product listing does not indicate that a microSD card is included. Check Wyze’s product page for current price and availability.

Its 1080p resolution is adequate for general activity monitoring, but it is not a detail-focused upgrade over Wyze’s higher-resolution cameras. Wyze Cam v4, for example, records at 2.5K. If you need to crop into distant footage or prioritize identifying fine details, compare the Cam v4 specifications before choosing the Window Cam.
Installation: adhesive mount, but not wireless
The installation avoids drilling or fastening a bracket to an exterior wall, which can be useful for renters or homes where exterior wiring is impractical. But “no tools” does not mean cordless: the camera needs continuous power, so plan for an outlet and a route for its 10-foot cable along the sill or wall. Wyze’s mounting instructions outline the process:
- Pair the camera in the Wyze app and open the in-app installation page.
- Choose a suitable window, then thoroughly clean and dry the inside of the glass.
- Do not place it behind a window screen; Wyze says to mount it on window glass.
- Peel the film from the adhesive mounting sticker. Do not trim it.
- Apply the sticker horizontally, as instructed to help minimize glare.
- Remove the protective film from the lens and press the camera onto the sticker.
- Route the cable along the sill or wall with the included clips, then finish setup in the app.
Because the mount relies on adhesive, the glass should be clean, dry, and smooth enough for it to adhere. The supplied information does not establish that removal is residue-free or suitable for every surface, so do not assume the adhesive will be harmless to paint, finishes, or delicate glass coatings. Consider the cable path before sticking the camera in place, especially if the window opens often. The flat, window-facing installation is best suited to a relatively straight-ahead view rather than an angled one.

Subscription, microSD, and cloud recording
A Wyze subscription is not required for basic use. Wyze describes live viewing, motion and sound alerts, timelapse recording, image-only cloud storage, and 24/7 local recording with a microSD card as available without Cam Plus. Wyze’s Cam Plus overview and its microSD-versus-Cam-Plus comparison distinguish basic features from paid cloud and AI options.
- microSD: Add a card (up to 512GB, exFAT) for continuous local recording and timelapse without a recurring storage fee. The card is not listed as included. Local footage is not off-site backup: it may be lost if the camera or card is damaged or taken, and someone with physical access may remove the card.
- Cam Plus: Adds person, pet, vehicle, package, and sound detection, event-video recording, 14 days of rollover event-video cloud storage, Wyze Web View, and other AI and alert features. Cloud history provides a different kind of backup, but comes with an ongoing fee and dependence on Wyze’s account and cloud service.
For U.S. pricing signals checked in 2026, Wyze listed Cam Plus at $2.99 per month for one camera or $29.99 per year after a March 2026 annual-price change. Cam Unlimited was listed at $9.99 per month for unlimited cameras, and Cam Unlimited Pro at $19.99 per month with additional AI and professional-response features. Plans and prices can change; confirm current terms with Wyze. For a single camera, local storage or single-camera Cam Plus may be more economical than an unlimited-camera plan.
Do not read “AI-powered motion detection” as a promise that every smart detection or cloud event video is free: basic motion alerts and paid smart classifications are distinct features. Continuous local recording also depends on a compatible card and uninterrupted power.

Glass, nighttime reflections, and other limitations
The main reason to consider the Window Cam is its behind-glass design, but glass remains an optical barrier. Wyze markets glare reduction and color night vision; those features do not guarantee reflection-free or full-color footage in every setting. Indoor lights reflected in the pane can obscure the outdoor scene, especially after dark. Before relying on the camera, test the view at night, turn off or reduce nearby indoor lights, and check the effects of headlights, porch lights, and streetlights. Dirt, textured or frosted glass, tint, condensation, and double-pane artifacts can also affect what the camera sees. Avoid mounting behind a screen.

A power outage stops operation; a router or internet problem can interrupt remote viewing and cloud functions. It is fixed in place rather than a pan-and-tilt camera, and an interior microphone and speaker separated from a visitor by glass should not be treated as equivalent to a doorbell intercom. Wyze lists two-way audio hardware, but practical sound depends on distance, the window, ambient noise, and network quality. There is no exterior button or doorbell function.
Finally, the Window Cam is a monitoring device, not a complete security system. It does not physically deter or challenge an intruder, and footage stored only on a removable card may disappear with the camera. Use it alongside sound locks, lighting, door and window sensors, or an alarm where those are appropriate; choose a weather-rated camera if the installation must be outdoors.

Who should consider it?
The Window Cam makes the most sense for renters and homeowners who need a basic view of a porch, driveway, or yard from inside, have clear suitable glass and a nearby outlet, and want to avoid exterior drilling or wiring. It is especially straightforward for people already using the Wyze app or its smart-home integrations. Its low upfront price and optional local recording are useful if you want to avoid a monthly plan, provided 1080p is enough and the window gives a usable view.
Skip it if you need battery power, weather exposure, pan-and-tilt movement, a doorbell button, maximum image detail, reliable operation through power or network outages, or a system that works without a vendor account. It is also a poor fit for a window with a screen, strong uncontrollable indoor reflections, no convenient outlet, frequent condensation, or an adhesive-unfriendly surface.
Alternatives to compare
- Wyze Cam v3 plus Window Mount: Worth considering if you already own a compatible Cam v3 or v3 Pro. The Window Mount is a separate accessory designed to reduce glare; the Window Cam is a dedicated behind-glass camera. The v3 has an IP65 weather-resistant design for suitable outdoor use when not behind glass. Check the Window Mount listing for compatibility and availability.
- Wyze Cam v4: A better direction if you can mount a camera normally and care more about 2.5K resolution, Wi-Fi 6, wide dynamic range, and a built-in spotlight than purpose-built window placement. It is not a substitute for the Window Cam’s behind-glass design.
- Ring Indoor Cam, 2nd Gen: A conventional indoor camera for buyers invested in Ring. It is not a purpose-built window-facing camera, so glare control depends more on the mounting arrangement; it also does not offer the Window Cam’s local microSD approach. Verdict
The Wyze Window Cam addresses a specific practical problem: monitoring outside without putting a camera and wiring outdoors. At the U.S. price seen in August 2026, it is an inexpensive, subscription-optional option for a suitable window, and local microSD recording can avoid a recurring storage fee. Its value depends on the installation: clear glass, manageable reflections, nearby power, and a useful straight-ahead view. Treat it as a wired indoor window monitor—not a weatherproof outdoor camera, high-resolution detail camera, or replacement for a layered home-security setup.
