Home Depot’s fiscal 2025 annual report says a typical store carries approximately 30,000 to 40,000 items over the year, across departments such as appliances, bath, flooring, lighting, paint, power and storage. That scale explains why an advertised category maximum never means every item in the department received the same reduction.

How to evaluate a current Home Depot replacement
- Define the project. Decide whether you are replacing an appliance, adding storage, improving lighting or buying equipment for a specific cleanup task.
- Match specifications before price. Compare dimensions, capacity, power source, included accessories and compatibility. A lower advertised price is not a like-for-like deal if batteries, hoses, shelves or installation parts are missing.
- Calculate the delivered total. Include delivery, installation, haul-away, permits, required connectors, assembly and local taxes. For appliances, also confirm door-clearance measurements and the path into the home.
- Check availability and timing. Store inventory, delivery windows and pickup eligibility can differ by ZIP code. Do not rely on a February listing’s stock status.
- Read return and warranty terms. Record the return deadline and manufacturer coverage, especially for powered equipment and installed products.
Appliance deals: the costs beyond the sticker price
The historical roundup covered refrigerators, laundry machines, ranges and other major appliances, and reported free shipping on orders of $1,498 or more. Shipping language is date- and order-specific: Home Depot’s official Pro Special Buy information says fast free delivery is subject to availability and excludes major appliances. For any current purchase, confirm the checkout terms rather than applying either statement automatically.
- Measure the appliance, doorway, hallway and installation opening.
- Price installation, water or gas connections, electrical changes and haul-away separately.
- Check energy use, capacity and configuration—not just the percentage discount.
- Confirm damage-inspection and delivery procedures before signing.
Tools and outdoor equipment: compare the system, not only the tool
The sale write-up named DeWalt, Ryobi and Milwaukee tools, with some saws and drills bundled with a free battery. Battery ecosystems are usually brand-specific, so compare the complete kit: tool, battery, charger, runtime, extra batteries and future-tool prices. For pressure washers, generators, chainsaws and mowers, also compare maintenance requirements, noise, storage space and local fuel or electrical constraints.
