The Weber Spirit E-425 is a substantial four-burner gas grill for cooks who need more primary grate space than a compact three-burner model and want a dedicated high-heat searing area. Its 428-square-inch main grate, 35,000 BTU-per-hour burner input and two-burner Sear Zone make it a capable mid-sized option. The tradeoff is physical: the grill is 51.8 inches wide and reaches 60.5 inches high with the lid open, so measure the patio before buying.
What the Spirit E-425 offers
Weber lists four stainless-steel main burners, 428 square inches of primary cooking area and a 105-square-inch warming rack, for 533 square inches in total. The porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates provide the cooking surface, while Snap-Jet ignition lights each burner individually with one hand.

Size and patio-clearance planning
With the lid closed, the grill measures 46.20 inches high, 51.80 inches wide and 26.60 inches deep. With the lid open, Weber lists 60.50 inches high, 51.80 inches wide and 30.97 inches deep.

Measure the full operating footprint
- Allow the complete 51.8-inch width, not merely the cookbox, for the grill body and side shelves.
- Check overhead clearance against the 60.5-inch open-lid height.
- Reserve roughly 31 inches of front-to-back depth when the lid is open, plus enough room to stand and work safely.
- Confirm that the 103-pound grill can be moved into position without tight turns or steps that make installation difficult.
A location that fits the closed dimensions can still be unsuitable once the lid is raised and the cook is standing in front of it.

Cooking space: is 428 square inches enough?
The 428-square-inch primary grate is the relevant figure for a normal cook; the 105-square-inch upper rack is mainly a holding and secondary-heat area. The E-425 suits households that routinely cook several foods at once and want more separation between zones than a compact three-burner grill provides. Whether it is enough for your meals depends on the size of the food and how much space you need between items, so lay out your usual cooking load on a 428-square-inch rectangle before ordering.
Sear Zone and real-world expectations
Weber says that “2 Boost Burners unleash 40% more power in the Sear Zone.” That is a manufacturer feature claim, not an independently measured temperature result. The dedicated area is most relevant when you regularly want concentrated heat for sear marks on meat, fish or vegetables while keeping another part of the grate at a different temperature.
When the Sear Zone earns its keep
- You sear frequently and want a defined high-heat section rather than heating the whole grill.
- You cook foods that benefit from moving between intense direct heat and a cooler zone.
- You value a built-in searing workflow more than the lowest purchase price.
When it may not matter
If most cooks are indirect, low-and-slow or simple single-zone grilling, the extra searing hardware may not change your routine. In that case, the E-425’s main advantages are its four-burner layout and larger primary grate, not the Sear Zone itself.

Spirit E-425 versus the smaller E-325
Avid Griller describes the E-425 as a step up from the E-325, citing 4,000 more BTU and 68 more square inches of grate area from published model specifications. Those are specification comparisons, not hands-on measurements. The practical decision is whether the added cooking room and four-burner layout solve a space problem you actually have.

LP or natural gas?
Liquid propane
The LP version uses a 20-pound tank, which Weber lists as sold separately. It is the simpler choice when you do not have a gas line at the grill location, but you must provide space for the cylinder and account for refilling or exchanging it.
Natural gas
The natural-gas version is intended for a compatible plumbed gas connection. Select the correct fuel configuration at purchase and verify that the proposed location, connector and installation meet local requirements; do not assume an LP model can be converted by swapping a tank for a line.

Accessories: useful additions versus extra spending
The E-425 works with Weber Works snap-on side-rail accessories and the Weber Crafted Outdoor Kitchen Collection. Weber lists a griddle, dual-sided sear insert, pizza stone and grilling basket among the available examples. These accessories are sold separately, and the exact frame or insert requirement should be checked for the specific E-425 variant.
Accessories that can change your workflow
- Griddle: adds a flat surface for foods that would fall through grates or for breakfast-style cooking.
- Dual-sided sear insert: offers an alternate searing surface if you want more specialized contact with food.
- Pizza stone: supports a baking setup, provided the compatible insert and placement requirements are met.
- Grilling basket: keeps smaller vegetables and similar foods contained.
Buy an accessory when it replaces a cooking method you already use. Otherwise, the add-on cost may increase the collection without improving your day-to-day setup.

Weber’s warranty coverage is tiered:
- 10 years on the cookbox, lid assembly and stainless-steel burner tubes.
- 5 years on stainless-steel cooking grates, Flavorizer bars and porcelain-enameled cast-iron grates.
- 2 years on remaining parts.
Keep the purchase record and confirm the warranty terms for the exact fuel version and market, since coverage follows the specified component and period rather than one uniform term for the entire grill.

Price and buying check
Weber’s US liquid-propane page showed $629, reduced from $679, when this review’s information was collected in 2026. That is a dated price snapshot, not a guaranteed current price. Home Depot also listed an exact-model four-burner propane grill with matching dimensions and burner output.
- Confirm whether the listing is LP or natural gas.
- For LP, budget separately for the 20-pound tank.
- Verify delivery area, stock and final checkout price.
- Recheck the open-lid height and depth against the intended patio location.
- Confirm accessory compatibility for the exact E-425 variant.
Bottom-line buying decision
The Spirit E-425 is a strong fit when you want a genuinely mid-sized grill: four burners, 428 square inches of primary space and a built-in high-heat zone. Its value is less compelling for cooks who rarely use multiple zones or who cannot comfortably accommodate a 51.8-inch-wide body and 60.5-inch open-lid height. At the documented $629 US sale price, stepping up from the E-325 makes sense mainly when the additional grate area, burner separation and Sear Zone will be used regularly.
