Verdict: The Tineco FLOOR ONE S9 Artist Steam is a capable cordless wet-dry floor washer for homes with sealed hard floors and frequent sticky, dried-on messes. Its steam mode adds useful heat-assisted cleaning, and independent testing found strong stain removal and low residual water. But this premium machine is heavy, its clean-water tank is modest, and its self-cleaning dock does not remove the need to rinse the dirty-water system after use. Buy it if those conveniences solve a real problem; skip it if you need a lightweight all-purpose vacuum or your floors are not approved for steam.
What the S9 Artist Steam is—and is not
The FLOOR ONE S9 Artist Steam is a cordless wet-dry hard-floor cleaner: it uses a soft roller, water, and suction to pick up dry debris and wash floors in the same pass. It is not a conventional dry vacuum or a standalone steam mop. It is best understood as a floor washer with a steam-assisted mode, rather than a replacement for a full-size vacuum that handles carpet, upholstery, stairs, and general dry cleaning.
Model names matter. The S9 Artist Steam, the non-steam S9 Artist Pro, and the S9 Artist Steam Pro are separate products. Tineco lists ReverseScrub Technology on the Steam Pro; do not assume its features or results apply to the standard Steam model. The S9 Master and S9 Scientist are also distinct machines with different feature sets.
Cleaning performance: where it earns its price
The S9 Artist Steam makes the most sense when one-pass pickup and washing can replace a separate vacuuming and mopping routine. Everyday dust, crumbs, and wet spills are the straightforward jobs. The more persuasive reason to pay extra is repeated trouble with sticky or dried residue—such as kitchen splashes, muddy footprints, or similar hard-floor messes—where heat-assisted cleaning can help loosen soil.
In its published test, Vacuum Wars recorded 151 points in its stain test, compared with a 140-point average for its comparison set. Its combined mopping score was 175 versus an average of 138. Those are encouraging results under that publication’s test protocol, not a promise that every stain will lift or that every floor will respond the same way.
Vacuum Wars also measured 0.4 grams of residual water in its test, below its one-gram comparison average. That suggests effective pickup in the tested conditions, but it does not guarantee streak-free floors. A dirty or worn roller, residue from too much or unsuitable cleaning solution, a soiled scraper, or moving too quickly over a heavily dirty patch can still leave marks. Follow Tineco’s product guidance for solution and water, and clean the roller and recovery path when results deteriorate.

What steam adds
Tineco says its HyperSteam system heats internally to up to 320°F and keeps outlet steam above 210°F under the company’s laboratory conditions. The 320°F figure is an internal heater rating—not a claim that the floor itself receives 320°F steam. Vacuum Wars found that steam helped with dried-on stains in its testing, which supports a practical cleaning benefit for some stubborn residue.

Heat-assisted cleaning is not the same as guaranteed disinfection or sterilization. Microorganism reduction depends on conditions such as temperature, contact time, and the surface; a quick pass should not be treated as proof that a floor is germ-free. Steam is most compelling here as a way to help clean certain stuck-on messes, not as a universal sanitizing guarantee.
Edges, hair, rugs, and low furniture
Tineco lists triple-sided edge cleaning and a 180-degree lay-flat design, useful features for baseboards and reaching under furniture. The listed lay-flat height is 12.85 cm (about 5 inches), so measure the clearance of the furniture you want to clean beneath; a low profile does not mean every sofa or cabinet is accessible.
The DualBlock system uses a comb scraper intended to catch hair and a straight scraper intended to remove dirty water and hair. That design is meant to reduce tangling, not eliminate it. Long hair, pet fur, string, and damp clumps can still collect around the roller, scraper, or suction path and should be checked during routine maintenance.

Vacuum Wars says the machine can handle light rug vacuuming, but it is not intended for deep carpet cleaning: it releases some water and does not agitate carpet fibers sufficiently. Keep it on compatible hard flooring and light rug tasks; use a suitable vacuum or carpet cleaner for deeper fabric cleaning.

Do not assume steam is safe for every surface sold as hard flooring. Before using Steam mode, check both the current S9 Artist Steam manual and the flooring manufacturer’s care instructions. Heat and moisture can harm sensitive finishes or materials. This is particularly important for wood, engineered wood, laminate, vinyl, waxed or treated surfaces, and unsealed stone. Even if a floor can tolerate damp cleaning, that does not automatically mean it is suitable for steam.
For ceramic or porcelain tile and sealed stone, follow the same product and flooring guidance rather than treating the material name alone as approval. If the manufacturer prohibits steam, do not use Steam mode. When compatibility is uncertain, choose a non-steam method or contact the flooring maker before risking a finish or warranty.
Weight and maneuverability: easy to push, less easy to carry
Vacuum Wars measured the machine at 6,148 grams—more than 13.5 pounds—compared with roughly 10.1 pounds as the average for the hard-floor cleaners in its comparison. That is a meaningful drawback for stairs, split-level homes, and anyone who needs to lift a cleaner frequently.

Self-propelled movement, a 90-degree swivel, and a 180-degree recline can make floor cleaning easier than the weight suggests. Tineco also describes 360-degree self-traction and says its repositioned clean-water tank is intended to improve brush-head pressure and reduce hand strain. Vacuum Wars found it maneuverable despite its weight, while noting that self-propulsion can set the pace for people who prefer precise speed control. Those features help while the cleaner is on the floor; they do not make it lighter when carrying it to another level, lifting it onto the dock, or handling its tanks.

Tineco lists up to 75 minutes of runtime in lay-flat Auto conditions, up to 30 minutes in Steam mode, and a charge time of about 3.5 hours. Vacuum Wars independently measured 75 minutes in its low-power battery test, compared with an approximately 35-minute average in its comparison set. The result is strong, but it does not mean 75 minutes of continuous steam cleaning.
Actual runtime depends on the mode, soil and moisture, steam use, how the machine is moved, interruptions, battery age, and whether it is operated flat. Plan around your usual cleaning mode rather than the highest advertised number.
The clean-water tank holds 0.88 L and the dirty-water tank 0.75 L; the manual gives about 0.6 L dirty-water capacity when the machine is laid flat. Vacuum Wars describes the clean-water tank as slightly below the one-liter average in its comparison set. Tank endurance varies with water flow and floor conditions, so a large or heavily soiled area, frequent Max use, or extensive steaming may require a refill or emptying stop before the job is done.

Self-cleaning helps—but does not mean maintenance-free
Tineco advertises FlashDry self-cleaning, full-path cleaning, a five-minute drying cycle using 85°C hot air, and bidirectional roller rotation. The dock can reduce the work of rinsing the roller and internal path, but the owner still needs to deal with dirty water and inspect parts that collect hair or debris.
- Return the machine to its dock and start self-cleaning as directed in the manual.
- Remove and empty the dirty-water tank after use; rinse the tank and its lid or separator.
- Remove and inspect the filter, roller, scraper, and accessible suction path for hair and debris.
- Let removable parts dry as the manual directs, then reassemble when sufficiently dry.
- Keep the dock and charging contacts clean.
Leaving dirty water or debris in the system can lead to odors and poorer results. The drying cycle is a convenience, not a substitute for emptying and rinsing the recovery tank.

The package includes cleaning solution, and Tineco’s support guidance for FLOOR ONE models describes adding solution according to the cap measurement and filling the clean-water tank to its Max line. Check the S9 Artist Steam support guidance and manual for the directions that apply to this model and mode. Tineco presents steam as a way to clean without harsh chemicals, but that is not a blanket instruction to use no solution in every mode or a guarantee of identical results with water alone.
Do not add household soap, vinegar, essential oils, bleach, disinfectants, or other unapproved liquids unless Tineco explicitly permits them. Incorrect or excessive solution can contribute to residue or performance problems.

Who should buy it?
- Good fit: A household with mostly compatible sealed hard floors, frequent sticky or dried spills, and a genuine desire to wash and pick up debris in one pass.
- Good fit with a caveat: Pet households that value quick cleanup, provided they are willing to inspect the roller and dirty-water path for hair and mess.
- Skip it: Carpet-focused homes, buyers seeking a lightweight stair cleaner, or anyone who expects the dock to eliminate cleanup after every use.
- Check first: Owners of wood, laminate, vinyl, stone, or delicate finishes should confirm both steam and wet-cleaning compatibility with the flooring maker.
- Consider a non-steam model: The S9 Artist Pro may be a better match if you want premium wet-dry cleaning but do not need steam, especially if it costs substantially less.
- Compare Steam Pro deliberately: The separate S9 Artist Steam Pro lists ReverseScrub Technology. Consider it only if that feature has practical value for you and the price difference makes sense.
For a conventional vacuum plus steam mop, the trade-off is two devices and cleaning passes instead of one combined machine. A less expensive floor washer may be enough for routine light messes. Conversely, a carpet-heavy home should prioritize a capable dry vacuum rather than expect this floor washer to do deep carpet work.
Price, package, and warranty
Prices and stock change, so check Tineco or an authorized retailer for the live price rather than relying on a fixed figure. The product package is listed as including the cleaner, charging dock, filter, cleaning solution, brush roller, and cleaning tool; verify contents with the seller because bundles and regional packaging can differ. Replacement rollers, filters, approved solution, batteries, and other parts are ongoing ownership considerations, and their availability can vary.
Tineco’s U.S. support page states a two-year limited warranty for the whole unit against original defects when used for private household purposes according to the manual; batteries and separately purchased motorized components have a one-year limited warranty. Terms and eligibility can vary, and Tineco says purchases must be from authorized retailers. Keep the receipt, confirm seller authorization, and review current exclusions and regional terms at Tineco support.
Bottom line
The S9 Artist Steam is a strong but specialized premium floor washer. Independent testing supports its case for stain removal, water pickup, and long low-power runtime, while steam may help with some dried-on messes. Its weight, smaller clean-water tank, flooring restrictions, and hands-on post-use care are real compromises. It is worth considering for sealed-hard-floor homes where steam and combined pickup-and-washing will be used often; for carpet, delicate flooring, or buyers who mainly want a lighter, simpler cleaner, a different tool—or the non-steam S9 Artist Pro—may be the better choice.
