IP ratings are explained by The Well Curated Home as a two-digit code: the first digit concerns solids such as dust and the second concerns water. In its description, IP44 means splash resistance, IP65 means dust protection and resistance to water jets such as sprinklers, IP67 is aimed at heavy downpours, and IP68 is for submersion. For a large tree, do not expect one bright fixture to illuminate every side. As Lindenberger is quoted in the test article: “Proper lighting involves placing fixtures at various angles and positions around the tree, rather than just one at the trunk.”
