The best air-fryer accessories depend on the job: liners make cleanup easier, racks add a second level, silicone-tipped tongs protect coated baskets, and thermometers check doneness. None is universally necessary, and even “universal” accessories must fit your appliance’s basket shape, internal dimensions and available height. The ten picks below are useful categories drawn from expert recommendations—not a single head-to-head ranking of ten products.

1. Reusable silicone basket liners
Silicone liners are a practical cleanup accessory: remove the liner, wash it and leave the basket less greasy. Pick a liner whose base follows the basket’s shape and whose outside dimensions do not crowd the drawer.
The compromise is airflow. A solid silicone base does not circulate hot air like an open basket, so food that needs browning underneath may become less crisp. TechRadar specifically advises skipping silicone liners for foods where underside crispness matters. For those dishes, cook directly in the basket or use a perforated liner.

2. Perforated parchment or paper liners
Disposable paper liners can simplify cleanup and help with delicate foods. The liner should sit neatly inside the basket; edges close to the heating element can scorch or catch fire. Always place enough food on the paper to hold it down before the air fryer starts. An empty or lightly loaded sheet can move upward toward the heater.
Paper is convenient when you do not want to wash a silicone accessory, but it is single-use and still needs careful sizing. Do not treat “universal” packaging as proof that the sheet fits your model.
3. Vented racks and inserts
A rack creates a second cooking tier in a sufficiently deep basket. Choose a vented design so hot air can reach the food, and measure the basket’s interior before ordering. Include the rack’s feet and the food’s height in your measurement; a piece that fits the base may leave too little clearance above.

Stacking is conditional, not a guaranteed capacity multiplier. A crowded upper tier can shade food below and restrict circulation, so use a rack only when both layers have room for air and the food can cook evenly.

4. Compact silicone-tipped tongs
Silicone or another non-abrasive material reduces the chance of scratching a coated basket when you turn or lift food. Compact tongs are easier to maneuver in a drawer than long, oversized kitchen tongs. Avoid dragging the tips across the coating, and replace damaged silicone that exposes hard metal.
5. A refillable oil mister
Bon Appétit recommends a refillable mister when you want a light, controlled coating of oil and the flexibility to choose the oil yourself rather than use an aerosol can. It is useful for vegetables, breaded foods and other recipes that call for a thin coating.
The mister is an application tool, not a promise of crisp results. Spray according to the recipe and the oil-mister manufacturer’s instructions; excess oil can pool or make the basket harder to clean.

A thermometer answers a different question from a timer: whether the center of a thick piece of meat has reached the required doneness. Bon Appétit names the Thermapen One as an instant-read precision tool, while TechRadar recommends a meat thermometer for checking that cuts are cooked through.

Use the probe in the thickest part and follow current food-safety guidance for the particular food. The accessory cannot correct for an overcrowded basket or an inaccurate appliance setting.
7. Small oven-safe cake or baking pans
An oven-safe pan that fits flat in the basket expands an air fryer into a small baking appliance. Measure the pan’s width, depth and height against the basket and leave clearance from the heating element. Bon Appétit’s guidance is to use only oven-safe items that fit the appliance’s measurements.
This is an occasional versatility purchase, not a requirement for fries, vegetables or chicken. A pan’s solid base also changes airflow, so follow a recipe designed for baking rather than expecting the same browning as food placed directly on the basket.

8. Silicone muffin cases and moulds
Silicone cups are useful for muffins, cupcakes, brownies and other portioned bakes when they fit securely in the drawer. Food stylist and writer Jane Curran told Woman & Home: “silicone muffin cases and cake pans are ideal for an air fryer. They are totally non-stick and easy and quick to clean.”

Check that filled cups cannot tip and that their rims remain clear of the heating element. Because they are baking accessories, they are most valuable to owners who will actually make cakes or individual portions.

Skewers can make kebabs or other small foods easier to arrange on a compatible rack; egg-bite moulds support a separate specialty use. These pieces are best considered optional add-ons. Confirm the rack’s height, the skewer length and the mould’s diameter before buying, and keep food clear of the heater.
10. Model-specific accessory kits
A kit can be economical when you need several functions, but compatibility matters more than the number of pieces. Woman & Home describes a COSORI set containing a cake pan, pizza tray, metal holder, rack with skewers, silicone mat and egg moulds. Tom’s Guide lists a COSORI bundle for its Iconic model with a cake pan, pizza pan, silicone mat, metal holder, egg-bites mould and rack with four skewers.

Are air-fryer accessories universal?
Accessory categories may work across several brands, but fit is never automatic. Compare the product’s stated dimensions with the basket’s usable width, depth and height, and account for handles, feet and the heating element. A round liner will not fit a square basket well, and a rack that fits the floor may be too tall once food is added.
- Measure the cooking area: use the interior dimensions, not only the drawer’s outside measurements.
- Check clearance: leave room between an accessory, the food and the heating element.
- Preserve airflow: favor perforated racks or liners when circulation and underside browning matter.
- Confirm materials: use accessories explicitly rated for the appliance’s cooking temperatures.
- Verify model listings: for kits, compare the exact model number and the included pieces at the time of purchase.
What do you actually need?
For easier everyday cooking
Start with compact silicone-tipped tongs. Add a liner only when cleanup is your priority, and choose paper or a perforated design when you need better airflow. A thermometer is worthwhile if you regularly cook thick meat.
For more food in one batch
Measure first, then consider a vented rack. Use it only in a basket deep enough to provide clearance and only when both levels can receive hot air.

Choose a small oven-safe pan, silicone cups or a mould-and-skewer set according to the recipes you plan to make. Buying a complete kit makes sense only after the model and dimensions are confirmed.
