Samsung unveiled its 2024 Bespoke AI home-appliance lineup on April 3, 2024, with coordinated events in Seoul, Paris and New York City. The launch was global; the products were not a single, identical lineup for every country. Samsung said each event featured appliances intended for that market, so a model or feature announced in Seoul should not be assumed available in the United States or Europe.
A global announcement, with regional lineups
“Bespoke AI” was Samsung’s umbrella name for a broad group of connected appliances, not one technology shared by every product. The Seoul presentation included 14 new products, according to Samsung. Paris emphasized European models, including energy-rated refrigerators and washers, while the New York event focused on products for North America. Product names, configurations, features and retail availability varied by market.
Samsung’s global launch announcement is the clearest guide to the three-city event and its market-specific lineups. Its U.S. announcement and U.K. announcement describe regional products and claims.

The label covered a mix of computer vision, sensors, cycle adjustments, recommendations and connected-device controls. These are useful distinctions when comparing appliances: “AI” did not mean every product had a conversational assistant, nor that the appliance could operate without user oversight.

Refrigerators: food recognition and a connected display
Selected refrigerators paired AI Family Hub+ with features such as food management, recipes and SmartThings controls. On supported models, Samsung’s AI Vision Inside system was said to recognize 33 types of fresh food entering or leaving the refrigerator. That is a launch-period claim for supported models—not a promise of accurate recognition for every grocery, packaged item or refrigerator in the range. Samsung’s U.S. materials describe the regional refrigerator features.
In North America, a related model was called the Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+. Names and configurations differed elsewhere. Food recognition is not a complete inventory system or a food-safety tool: covered, obscured, unusual or unsupported items may not be recognized, and users should check food themselves.
Laundry: sensing and adjusting a wash-and-dry cycle
The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo combined washing and drying in one appliance. Samsung said AI Opti Wash & Dry could sense load weight, dispense water and detergent, detect fabric type and soil level, adjust wash time, and modify drying based on load and fabric. These are automated cycle adjustments, not autonomous sorting or folding, and they do not replace garment-care labels.

For buyers considering an all-in-one unit, compare the wash and dry capacities, complete-cycle time, installation requirements, maintenance and local service availability with a separate washer and dryer. Ventless heat-pump drying can suit a room without a conventional dryer vent, but its requirements and cycle behavior differ from a vented dryer. Samsung’s U.S. product page identifies one model, WD53DBA900HZA1; prices and stock change, so check the page for current details.
Robot vacuum and mop: object and floor recognition
The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI used cameras and recognition features to identify objects such as people, pets, thin cables, rugs and mats. Floor detection was intended to distinguish carpet from hard flooring and determine whether to lift or leave the mop. Its Clean Station Steam+ handled dock tasks including dust emptying, water refilling, mop washing and steam treatment.
Samsung claimed that high-temperature steam reduced 99.99% of harmful bacteria on the mop surface under its test conditions. That claim concerns the mop, not sterilization of an entire floor. Camera-based navigation can also miss cables or struggle with clutter, reflective surfaces, dark objects and unusual obstacles; users should still prepare floors and supervise where needed.

Induction and range products: screens and connected controls
Selected AI Home induction products used a connected display for compatible SmartThings controls, recipes, videos and a map-style view of connected devices. At the New York event, Samsung also introduced a U.S.-specific Bespoke slide-in range with an internal oven camera, viewable remotely through SmartThings or compatible Samsung displays. These are market- and model-dependent functions, not features to expect on every range or cooktop.
Other products and European energy claims
The broader announcement also included a Bespoke Jet AI vacuum, Bespoke Infinite Induction products, Bespoke Cube Air Infinite Line air purifiers, new four-door refrigerator designs including a Peltier-cooling model, and European refrigerator and washer models. The event’s product count and exact selection varied by region.
Samsung’s European presentation described an extra-wide refrigerator/freezer with an A energy rating under European labeling rules and washers marked A-10%, A-20% and A-40%. Those designations belong to European energy-label terminology and Samsung’s stated claims; they are not universal estimates of household bill savings. Samsung said the A-40% washer used Bubble Shot Technology to reduce water use and cycle time. See the European launch coverage for the regional context.
What “global” means for buyers
The launch joined three regional events into a worldwide announcement, but it did not confirm identical retail availability worldwide. Samsung explicitly described the presentations as market-specific. The table summarizes the confirmed scope without implying that every announced product shipped in every region.

For any appliance, search by exact model number rather than the Bespoke AI brand alone. Compatibility, firmware, remote functions and software-update eligibility can differ even between products with similar names.

Samsung positioned SmartThings as the connective layer for appliance control, energy-related functions and routines. Selected appliance screens also offered controls for other compatible devices. Using these functions can require Wi-Fi, a Samsung account, compatible software and supported regional services. “Works with SmartThings” does not mean every feature is available remotely or that every appliance can control every other one.

The announcement also included Smart Forward, Samsung’s plan to provide software features, upgrades and security updates to eligible Wi-Fi-connected appliances, including some already owned. Eligibility depends on the model and region; do not assume that a Bespoke appliance—or an older connected appliance—will receive every future feature. Check support for the specific model before buying on the promise of upgrades.
Privacy, reliability and appliance fundamentals
Refrigerator, oven and robot-vacuum cameras bring a privacy question into the home. Before enabling them, check the model’s privacy settings, account requirements, data handling and whether essential functions remain available without a network connection. Samsung cited Knox and UL Solutions “Diamond” IoT-security verification for named products. Those claims should not be read as an independent privacy audit or as a blanket guarantee for every appliance.
Recognition and sensing are fallible. Unusual food packaging, obscured items, clutter, poor lighting, cables or unfamiliar fabrics can challenge computer-vision and sensor systems. Screens and connected components may also age differently from the refrigerator or washer hardware, and additional electronics can complicate repair. Assess warranty, parts and service access alongside software support.
Most importantly, AI should not outrank the appliance’s core job. For a refrigerator, compare usable capacity, cooling, layout, noise and service. For laundry, consider load size, drying performance, cycle duration, installation and maintenance. For a robot vacuum, weigh navigation against your flooring, clutter and willingness to prepare rooms. Smart features are a bonus only if you will use them.
Who might benefit
- Samsung ecosystem households: SmartThings controls and routines are most relevant if you already use compatible Samsung devices and want them connected.
- Homes short on laundry space: An all-in-one combo can replace two machines, provided its drying behavior, capacity and service options suit your household.
- People seeking routine automation: Load sensing, cycle adjustment and robot obstacle detection address practical tasks, although they do not eliminate user checks.
- Buyers who prefer simplicity: A conventional appliance may be a better fit if you value fewer connected features, less screen or camera hardware, easier offline use or simpler repair.
