Roborock announced three Saros robot vacuums at CES 2025: the Saros Z70, Saros 10, and Saros 10R. The Z70 drew attention for a retractable five-axis arm designed to move selected small objects, but the other two models may matter more to most homeowners. They focus on low-clearance navigation, obstacle avoidance, automated mopping, and multifunction docks—not general-purpose household robotics. Roborock’s later catalog includes newer Saros models, so these 2025 announcements are no longer its newest generation; whether one is worth buying depends on today’s price and your home’s layout.
What Roborock announced at CES 2025
Roborock presented the Z70, Saros 10, and Saros 10R as a lineup of premium robot vacuums, not as one product with three configurations. The Z70 is the experimental, arm-equipped model. The Saros 10 emphasizes retracting navigation hardware and advertised suction, while the 10R centers on StarSight navigation, dual spinning mops, and adaptive brush and chassis features. Roborock’s CES 2025 overview describes the broader lineup; its launch announcement confirms the three models.

These are manufacturer specifications and positioning, not a head-to-head independent test. A higher Pa figure alone does not establish better pickup, edge cleaning, mopping, noise, or reliability.

Saros Z70: what the robotic arm can—and cannot—do
The Z70’s OmniGrip arm folds into the robot when idle and extends during cleaning. Roborock describes it as a five-axis arm for selected object pickup, remote control, and a higher-view video mode. The robot is 7.98 cm (3.14 inches) tall and is rated by Roborock at up to 22,000 Pa suction. Its official product page says it recognizes 108 pre-programmed objects and lets users customize up to 50 more in the app.

Roborock also reports that internal testing recognized and bypassed objects as small as 2 cm by 2 cm, with performance varying by environmental conditions. The company says the arm uses about 10% of the product’s total space, based on its own measurements. These are manufacturer claims, not independently established rates of successful pickup in ordinary homes.
Think of it as selective clutter handling, not a household helper
Recognizing an object and successfully grasping it are different tasks. Results can depend on size, weight, shape, orientation, floor surface, lighting, and whether the robot can approach with enough clearance. An object may be pushed aside or identified but left behind. The Z70 should not be expected to handle wet waste, fragile items, tangled cables, heavy objects, or arbitrary household clutter. It remains a vacuum with a specialized mechanism, not a general-purpose home robot.
The arm also adds moving parts that may need cleaning or servicing. A CES demonstration does not establish long-term reliability, repair costs, or how often the mechanism will succeed across varied homes. If the arm is the reason to buy, consider whether the objects it might move are dry, small, accessible, and worth the price premium.

Saros 10: retracting navigation for low-clearance spaces
The Saros 10 uses RetractSense navigation and Reactive AI 3.0 obstacle recognition. Roborock says its navigation module lowers to pass beneath low-clearance furniture and rises again in open areas. That design addresses a real trade-off: a robot must be low enough to reach under furniture but still carry sensors suited to navigation. Its listed height is 7.98 cm, and its advertised suction is 22,000 Pa. The Saros 10 product information also lists a certified dual anti-tangle system, VibraRise 4.0 mopping, automatic mop detachment, and RockDock Ultra 2.0.
The retracting sensor can help with low furniture, but measure the actual clearance along the robot’s route rather than relying on the body-height figure alone. Furniture bars, sagging fabric, thresholds, and the space needed to turn may prevent access even when a robot appears to fit on paper.
Carpet and hair claims need context
Roborock advertises a 100% hair-removal rate on carpet and a 0% hair-tangle rate for the Saros 10. Those are company test claims, not guarantees for every carpet, pet coat, or length of human hair. Hair pickup and brush entanglement are different measures; neither tells you by itself how much hair may gather around side brushes, wheels, mop mounts, dock components, or filters. The available claims do not establish performance across every carpet type or distinguish all varieties of long hair.

Saros 10R: a navigation- and mopping-focused alternative
The Saros 10R uses StarSight Autonomous System 2.0. Roborock’s U.S. listing specifies a 7.98 cm (3.14-inch) body, DuoDivide anti-tangle brush, FlexiArm Riser side brush and mop, dual spinning mops, automatic mop detachment, and the AdaptiLift chassis. It also lists a 10-in-1 Multifunctional Dock 4.0, 2.5-hour ultra-fast charging, and an intelligent voice assistant. See the U.S. Saros 10R page for the current product details.
The U.S. product page lists 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only; it does not support 5GHz. A dual-band router may still work if it provides a compatible 2.4GHz network, but check how your router handles device setup and band steering before buying. The 10R’s feature set may suit a home that values navigation and mopping over the Saros 10’s higher advertised suction figure. That does not make it universally better: floor mix, obstacles, furniture clearance, and dock fit matter.
What “AI-powered” means in practice
For this lineup, “AI” is best understood as a collection of specific automated functions rather than human-like understanding. Depending on model, the systems support navigation, obstacle recognition, object labeling, and adjustments to a cleaning plan. The app and dock can automate routines such as room cleaning, carpet handling, mop behavior, and water or dust management. The 10R page lists a voice assistant. The Z70 adds a mechanical attempt to handle selected objects.

- Recognition is not certainty. Sensors may detect and classify an obstacle, but accuracy can vary with lighting, floor conditions, and the object itself.
- Classification is not manipulation. The Z70 may recognize an object without being able to grip or move it successfully.
- Automation is not maintenance-free operation. Owners still need to manage consumables and periodically clean the robot and dock.
- Voice and video features deserve a privacy check. Before enabling remote video or camera features, review account security, camera controls, cloud-processing disclosures, and firmware behavior. Available product information does not establish where imagery is stored or processed.
Roborock notes that the Z70 app interface may change without notice. Menu labels and automation options can therefore differ as software evolves.

On the 10R, Roborock lists up to 10 mm of chassis lift and up to 17 mm of mop lift, along with adjustable main and side brushes. The AdaptiLift chassis is intended to help the robot adapt to floor transitions and carpet conditions; it does not let a robot climb stairs. Whether it crosses a threshold depends on its shape, height, approach angle, floor material, and traction. Measure thresholds and furniture openings in your home rather than assuming the advertised adjustments solve every transition.
A low body also does not guarantee that every space is reachable. A robot needs room to enter, navigate, and turn, and raised sensors or furniture supports may be the limiting factor. Dark, reflective, transparent, and very thin objects can also challenge optical recognition. Cables, shoelaces, toys, and wet debris remain hazards worth picking up before a run.

The dock is part of the buying decision
These systems rely on large multifunction docks for tasks such as dust collection, mop washing and drying, and water handling. The Saros 10’s official page describes manual water replacement and optional refill-and-drainage configurations, with an installation pre-check for the latter. A plumbed setup may reduce routine refilling, but requires compatible water and drain access, enough installation space, and permission from a landlord or building where applicable. Roborock’s Saros 10 information explains its available dock configurations.
Check the dock footprint and clearance before choosing a location, including space to remove tanks or service the unit. Even self-washing docks need periodic cleaning. Mop cloths, dust bags, filters, cleaning solution, and brush components are recurring maintenance items; use cleaning products compatible with the manufacturer’s instructions. Automatic mop detachment or lifting can reduce carpet exposure, but does not guarantee that every carpet stays dry in every situation.
U.S. availability, price, warranty, and later models
Roborock’s U.S. store pages list the Saros 10, 10R, and Z70, but the displayed promotions vary by page snapshot and date. The listed regular prices have generally been around $1,599.99 for the Saros 10 and 10R; the Z70 has appeared at a regular price of $2,599. Sale prices have varied substantially, so check the live U.S. store and the relevant 10R or Z70 product page before purchase. Treat the regular prices as listed pricing, not a promise of the current transaction price.
The U.S. 10R product page lists a 30-day return period and a one-year limited warranty; review the applicable terms for the exact product and purchase. Budget for consumables and any installation costs separately from the robot’s price. By 2026, Roborock’s global catalog includes later Saros products such as Saros 20 and Saros 20 Sonic, so compare current options and discounts rather than assuming a CES 2025 model is still the newest flagship. Roborock’s U.S. comparison page also includes Qrevo and Q-series models, which may be more practical for ordinary vacuuming and mopping at a lower price.
Which Saros model fits your home?
- Choose the Saros 10 if low furniture clearance, RetractSense navigation, its higher advertised suction figure, and VibraRise mop handling match your priorities.
- Choose the Saros 10R if StarSight navigation, dual spinning mops, and the adaptive brush and chassis system matter more to you than maximum advertised suction.
- Consider the Z70 only if selective handling of small, dry objects is genuinely useful, you have room for the robot to approach them, and the arm’s novelty justifies the added cost and complexity.
Look beyond the Saros line if your home has stairs, a large dock will not fit, you do not want camera-based features, your network cannot provide compatible 2.4GHz Wi-Fi for the 10R, or you want a simpler robot without premium dock and consumable costs. A robot vacuum also does not replace a separate solution for stairs, upholstery, corners, or clutter-heavy rooms.
