Short answer: The Roborock Q7 Max+ is still a capable robot vacuum, but in 2026 it is a buy only at a meaningful clearance discount. It maps rooms well, handles everyday debris, and empties its dustbin into a dock. But it does not recognize small obstacles, its mop is for light wiping rather than scrubbing, and independent testing raises concerns about pet-hair pickup. If a newer Roborock Q7 M5+ costs about the same, the Q7 Max+ is difficult to justify.
This review focuses on the U.S. market and the model’s value as of the latest reported store checks on August 18, 2026. Roborock’s Q7 Max+ listing showed prices around $329.99–$359.99 but was marked sold out or coming soon in the observed page states. At a glance
- Best for: A relatively uncluttered home that needs scheduled vacuuming, reliable mapping, and light maintenance wiping.
- Not a good fit for: Homes with heavy-shedding pets, frequently scattered cords or toys, or a need for real stain-scrubbing mopping.

What is the Roborock Q7 Max+?
The Q7 Max+ is the Q7 Max robot bundled with Roborock’s Auto-Empty Dock Pure. The “+” refers primarily to that dock; the robot’s core vacuuming, navigation, battery, and mopping hardware are the same. The dock empties dust from the robot into a disposable bag. It does not wash or dry the mop, refill water, or turn the Q7 Max+ into an all-in-one floor-care station.
It is also easy to confuse this model with other names in Roborock’s range. The older Q7 Max+ is rated at up to 4,200Pa suction. The newer Q7 M5+ is marketed as an upgrade and lists 10,000Pa plus anti-tangle features. The Q7+ is a different model, while the Q5 Max+ is a vacuum-focused alternative without the Q7 Max’s electronic mopping system.

Specifications are from Roborock’s U.S. product page and the Q7 Max+ manual. Published dustbin capacity figures vary by source and measurement, so they are not a useful basis for comparing the robot. Likewise, do not treat 4,200Pa as proof of superior pickup: independent surface-specific tests are more informative.
Vacuuming performance: good for everyday upkeep, with caveats
Independent reviews describe the Q7 Max+ as a capable general-purpose vacuum. Vacuum Wars found strong debris pickup overall and good navigation. RTINGS found good hard-floor pickup and strong performance on high-pile carpet, but weaker fine-debris pickup along walls and corners on low-pile carpet. Those results make it a sensible maintenance cleaner for ordinary dust and crumbs, not an automatic replacement for a full-size vacuum.
Hard floors
On hard floors, the robot’s systematic LiDAR routes and scheduled room cleaning help keep up with daily debris. Fine dust can still collect at edges and in corners, and light objects can be pushed or dragged if they are left in its path. Frequent runs are more likely to keep floors presentable than an occasional deep clean.

Carpet performance depends on the surface. RTINGS reported good high-pile-carpet performance, but weaker fine-material pickup along walls and corners on low-pile carpet. It is therefore too broad to call the Q7 Max+ excellent on all carpets. If your home is mostly carpeted, especially with demanding edge-cleaning needs, weigh the specific test results and consider a current alternative rather than relying on the suction number alone.
Pet hair
Pet owners should be cautious. RTINGS rated pet-hair pickup poorly, and Vacuum Wars’ score breakdown also flagged pet performance despite stronger general debris results. That does not mean the robot cannot collect any hair; it means its performance is a notable weakness compared with its everyday crumb-and-dust pickup. If shedding is a major cleaning problem, prioritize a newer anti-tangle or dual-roller design and look for independent pet-hair testing before choosing.
Mopping: light wiping, not scrubbing
The Q7 Max+ uses an electronic water pump with adjustable water flow and can vacuum and mop in the same run. But its cloth pad is dragged across the floor: it does not vibrate, rotate, or apply meaningful scrubbing force. RTINGS found the system inadequate for stains compared with more advanced scrubbing designs.

Use it to wipe away dust, light footprints, or residue from a freshly cleaned surface between proper mops. Do not count on it for dried food, grease, mud, sticky kitchen stains, or grout. Vacuum or sweep up larger debris first, and empty leftover water after use as directed in the manual. The dock only empties dust; it does not wash the cloth or manage mop water for you.

The Q7 Max+’s LiDAR mapping is a genuine strength. The app supports room and zone cleaning, schedules and routines, multi-floor maps, no-go zones, no-mop zones, and recharge-and-resume features. You can ask it to clean a specific room or restrict access to a problem area once a map is established.
But mapping and object recognition are different capabilities. The Q7 Max+ does not have a dedicated camera- or AI-based system for identifying and avoiding small items. It may run into cables, socks, toys, clothing, pet toys, or bowls. Clear the floor before unattended runs; if your household routinely leaves clutter down, a robot with more capable obstacle avoidance is a better fit. App, setup, and everyday use
Initial setup uses the Roborock app. Place the dock against a wall with room for the robot to approach, install the bag, charge the robot, and connect it to a supported 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Run an initial mapping pass with the floor cleared, then check the room boundaries and create no-go or no-mop zones as needed. App labels and menus can change, so follow the current pairing flow rather than relying on a fixed sequence of button names.
Before scheduling regular cleaning, test a short room run. Set vacuum intensity and water flow to suit each room, and remove the mop module or use an appropriate no-mop zone when carpet should stay dry. Alexa and Google Home support are listed for the U.S. product, but available commands and integrations can depend on region and current app support.

Dock and maintenance
The 2.5L Auto-Empty Dock Pure is convenient: after a run, it transfers dust from the robot’s bin into a bag. Roborock advertises up to seven weeks between bag changes, but actual intervals depend on home size, cleaning frequency, debris, and pet hair. Do not plan around seven weeks as a promise. Long hair, bulky debris, or compacted dust may also remain in the robot’s bin instead of transferring perfectly.
The dock reduces one chore; it does not make the robot maintenance-free. Expect to replace bags, clean hair from the brushroll and side brush, wash and fully dry the filter before reinstalling it, clean the mop cloth, and inspect wheels, sensors, charging contacts, and the dock’s air path. Check replacement-part compatibility and regional supply before committing to an older model. The U.S. listing describes an E11-rated washable air filter; do not assume that means the robot is HEPA-rated.

If the dock does not empty the robot, confirm that the robot is seated correctly, the bag is installed and not full, the dustbin cover and air path are closed, and the contacts are clean. Also check that automatic emptying has not been disabled in the app. If the robot gets stuck, pause it, remove the obstruction, check the brush and wheels for hair, and resume or return it to the dock. Repeated navigation problems may come from a blocked dock approach, map boundaries, reflective surfaces, or thresholds rather than a corrupted map.
Q7 Max+ vs. Q7 M5+: the key buying comparison

The Q7 M5+ is the more current option and can cost less than the Q7 Max+ based on the observed official-store prices. Roborock lists higher claimed suction and anti-tangle features, but Pa ratings alone do not establish how much better it cleans. Treat the M5+ as the more sensible starting point at similar prices, then check independent testing for the floors and debris you care about. How it compares with the Q5 Max+ and S8+
Roborock Q5 Max+: Consider it if vacuuming is the priority and mopping is unimportant. RTINGS’ comparison suggests it may be the better deal when priced lower; the Q7 Max+’s main functional advantage is its more capable electronic water-control mopping system. Roborock S8+: This is a more premium alternative for buyers who want more advanced cleaning and mopping hardware and are willing to spend more. Who should buy the Q7 Max+?
- Apartment with mostly hard floors: A reasonable clearance buy if rooms are fairly uncluttered and light wiping is enough.
- Family home with toys and cords on the floor: Avoid unless someone reliably clears the floor before every run; it lacks dedicated small-object avoidance.
- Home with shedding pets: Look elsewhere, especially if pet hair on carpet is a central problem.
- Mostly carpeted home: Consider the mixed, carpet-type-specific results and compare newer models; do not buy based on Pa alone.
- Buyer who wants real mopping: Skip it. Its cloth is for maintenance wiping, not stain scrubbing, and the dock does not wash or refill it.
- Budget buyer: Buy only when the Q7 Max+ is clearly cheaper than a comparable current self-emptying model and replacement bags and parts are available in your region.
As a practical rule, a strong deal means a clear price advantage over the Q7 M5+ or another comparable current model. A modest discount is only compelling if you specifically want the Q7 Max+ and its available ecosystem. If it costs the same as or more than a newer alternative, skip it.
