The Roborock Q7 Max is still a capable, map-focused robot vacuum for mostly hard-floor homes, but it is no longer a current-generation all-rounder. Its strengths are reliable LiDAR navigation, room-by-room app control, strong everyday debris pickup, and light-duty electronic mopping. Its weaknesses are weak pet-hair performance on some carpets, no reliable small-object or pet-waste avoidance, and a mop that neither lifts nor washes itself.
The Q7 Max+ uses the same robot. The “Plus” designation mainly adds the Auto-Empty Dock Pure, so it does not provide stronger suction, better navigation, or better mopping. In 2026, buy either model only when the discount is substantial and its limitations match your home.

Roborock lists dimensions of 13.90 × 13.78 × 3.80 inches and a weight of 8.38 pounds on its U.S. product page. Measure the lowest furniture in your home: the LiDAR turret makes the Q7 Max taller than some low-profile robots.

Q7 Max versus Q7 Max+: what is the difference?
The Q7 Max and Q7 Max+ contain the same robot. Both have 4,200 Pa maximum suction, LiDAR navigation, simultaneous vacuuming and mopping, an electronic water pump, the same battery, and the same app functions.

Choose the Q7 Max+ only for the convenience of automatic dust collection. Do not pay a large premium expecting improved cleaning. The dock does not wash or dry the mop, refill the water tank, or change the robot’s mopping capability. Roborock’s support documentation explains the Q7 Max series and its dock configuration.
How well does the Q7 Max vacuum?
Hard floors
Hard floors are the Q7 Max’s safest recommendation. Its systematic LiDAR routes and strong everyday debris pickup make it useful for dust, crumbs, and ordinary household dirt. The all-rubber brush is relatively simple to maintain, although hair can still wrap around it.
Carpet
Independent results are more mixed because carpet type and test method matter. RTINGS found strong high-pile-carpet performance, but reported more difficulty with fine debris on low-pile carpet, particularly near edges and walls. Vacuum Wars reported strong overall pickup and carpet deep-clean results.
These findings are not necessarily contradictory: a robot can perform well in one carpet test while leaving embedded fine debris in another. The Q7 Max should not be selected solely because its specification says 4,200 Pa.
Pet hair
Pet owners should be cautious. RTINGS found that the single rubber brushroll did not provide enough agitation for strong pet-hair pickup in its testing. The Q7 Max may help maintain floors between manual cleanings, but it is not a convincing choice for homes with heavily shedding dogs or cats and substantial carpet.
Edges and corners
The round body and single-side-brush layout leave predictable limitations along walls and in corners. It can reduce accumulated dirt there, but it will not replace occasional edge cleaning with a conventional vacuum.

What does 4,200 Pa suction really mean?
4,200 Pa is a maximum suction figure, not a complete cleaning score. Roborock says the figure is based on internal testing under IEC 62885-2:2016 / 5.8 conditions, in Max+ mode with a full battery, as described on its global product page.

Compare independent floor-type results rather than assuming a higher Pa number automatically means better cleaning than every newer model.
Does the Q7 Max really mop?
Yes, but “mop” should be understood as maintenance wiping rather than powered floor scrubbing. The Q7 Max uses a combined dustbin/water-tank module, an electronic water pump, adjustable water flow, and a cloth pressed against the floor. Roborock advertises approximately 300 g of mop pressure and 30 water-flow levels.
It is useful for dust film, footprints, and light fresh soil on sealed hard floors. It is not a substitute for scrubbing dried food, grease, mud, or set-in stains. Independent testing differs: Vacuum Wars found the pressure-assisted pad effective in its tests, while RTINGS described the passive system as inadequate for dried stains. The practical conclusion is to expect maintenance mopping, not premium stain removal.
The pad does not automatically lift. It also does not vibrate, wash, or dry itself. If the robot enters carpet with a wet pad, it can dampen the carpet. Create no-mop zones and carpet restrictions in the app, or remove the mop attachment before carpet-heavy cleaning.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
LiDAR is the Q7 Max’s strongest feature. It builds systematic room maps and supports room cleaning, zone cleaning, schedules, no-go zones, invisible walls, multi-floor maps, recharge-and-resume cleaning, routines, and cleaning history.

LiDAR mapping is not the same as object recognition. The Q7 Max can understand walls and furniture, but it is not designed to reliably identify and avoid charging cables, socks, toys, slippers, pet bowls, small waste, or pet feces. Vacuum Wars specifically notes the lack of obstacle avoidance and object recognition.
Before every run, remove loose cables, clothing, toys, and small objects. Keep pet-waste areas inaccessible or inspect the floor first. Running the robot over feces can spread contamination across the home.

Labels and screen layouts can change with software updates. The Q7 Max manual documents the main map and maintenance functions.
Setup: the important steps
- Put the dock on a hard, level surface with sufficient clearance.
- Place the robot on the dock and let it charge.
- Install the Roborock app and add the Q7 Max.
- Connect it to a compatible 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network; 5 GHz-only networks are not supported.
- Clear cables, clothing, toys, bowls, and other loose objects.
- Run an initial mapping cycle, preferably supervised.
- Label the rooms after the map is created.
- Add no-go, invisible-wall, and no-mop zones.
- Set room schedules, suction levels, carpet boost, and water flow.
- Run a short supervised cleaning cycle before leaving it unattended.
For carpet-heavy homes, create no-mop zones before attaching a wet pad. The manual and Roborock support page provide the model’s connection and safety guidance.

The 5,200 mAh battery is rated for up to 180 minutes under Roborock’s stated conditions. Real runtime varies considerably with suction mode, carpet boost, number of passes, furniture density, mopping, and floor layout. RTINGS measured nearly four hours in Quiet mode but a little over 80 minutes in Max mode in its testing.

Large homes may require charging during a cleaning run. Recharge-and-resume allows the robot to return to the dock, charge, and continue, but no runtime figure guarantees coverage of a particular square footage.

The Q7 Max is less demanding than a full-service mop robot, but it is not maintenance-free. The manual recommends:

Do not use cleaning liquid when rinsing the filter. Wash and dry the mop cloth after use, inspect the brush for hair, and empty unused water rather than leaving it stagnant. Q7 Max+ owners must also replace disposable dock dust bags and wipe the dock and sensors. The Auto-Empty Dock Pure does not eliminate mop or water maintenance.
The standard Q7 Max’s combined dustbin/water tank also means less space is available for dry debris. In practice, homes with pets or heavy debris may require manual emptying after every run. Confirm replacement-part compatibility by model and region through Roborock’s store.
Availability and value in 2026
Roborock’s U.S. pages have displayed $159.99 for the Q7 Max and $359.99 for the Q7 Max+, but both listings have also shown “Out of stock, coming soon.” Treat those figures as volatile page-listed price signals, not guaranteed live purchase prices.

The Q7 Max+ is worthwhile when its price premium is modest and automatic dust emptying is important. Neither is a good value at a price close to newer robots with better pet-hair pickup, obstacle recognition, mop lifting, or multifunction docks.
How it compares with alternatives
- Roborock Q5 Max or Q5 Max+: Consider these if vacuuming and pet-hair performance matter more than having a basic mop. The Q5 Max platform has similar mapping but does not provide the Q7 Max’s mopping system; check current model specifications.
- Roborock Q Revo: Consider it when you want a multifunction dock that can refill water and wash and dry mop pads, as discussed in RTINGS’ Q7 Max review.
- Roborock Q7 M5: This newer Q7-family model is a different product and may offer improved hard-floor and pet-hair performance. Verify the exact dock version, price, and availability before buying; see RTINGS’ review and TechRadar’s review.
- Newer multifunction robots: Look for mop lifting, vibrating or spinning pads, object recognition, and dock-based washing, drying, and water refilling if those features matter more than low purchase cost.
Who should buy the Q7 Max?
- Good fit: Mostly hard floors, light-to-moderate clutter, a need for accurate room mapping, and realistic expectations about mopping.
- Good fit for Q7 Max+: You want automatic dust emptying and do not mind washing the mop and refilling water manually.
- Poor fit: Homes with shedding pets, substantial carpet, frequent floor clutter, or a need for reliable pet-waste avoidance.
- Poor fit: Anyone expecting dried-stain scrubbing, automatic mop lifting, mop washing, drying, or water refilling.
- Setup issue: Buyers whose home network is 5 GHz-only will need a compatible 2.4 GHz network.
Bottom line: Buy the Q7 Max in 2026 as a discounted, navigation-first vacuum with light mopping—not as a modern premium cleaning station. Choose the Q7 Max+ only for dust-emptying convenience, and spend more on a newer model if pet hair, clutter avoidance, carpet protection, or hands-off mopping is your priority.
