Nise Wave Smart Sous Vide: How Its Adaptive Cooking Control Worked—and Whether It’s Worth Buying in 2026

Nise Wave was a crowdfunded Wi-Fi sous-vide cooker whose signature idea was to make food ready at a chosen time by adjusting the cooking temperature during the cook. That promise made it different from a conventional circulator, which typically holds a selected water temperature. But the available evidence is historical campaign and press material, not independent performance testing or current support documentation. As of August 16, 2026, current sales, app operation, warranty, replacement parts, and ongoing support could not be verified, so treat Nise Wave as a historical device—not a dependable current purchase unless you can test the exact unit and its app yourself.

What Nise Wave was

Nise Wave was an immersion circulator developed by Canadian company Nise Tech and launched on Kickstarter on July 18, 2017. Like other sous-vide circulators, it was designed to heat and circulate water in an ordinary pot. The cook seals food in a suitable bag, places it in the water bath, and relies on controlled water temperature to cook it. Nise Tech promoted smartphone control, recipe guidance, manual operation, and a scheduling system it called adaptive temperature control. The launch announcement and campaign-era product coverage describe those intended features; they are not independent tests.

The Kickstarter campaign set a $35,000 goal and ultimately raised about $292,214 from 1,860 backers. The campaign ended August 31, 2017, according to its campaign record. That establishes strong fundraising interest, not by itself a shipment completion rate, product reliability, or continued customer support.

What “control the way you want to cook” meant

Nise Wave’s control proposition had several parts:

Uniform heating for consistent meat texture. From Sunday roast to weekly meal-prep chicken, pro-quality cooking is now as easy as pressing a button
  • Quiet Operation & High Precision — At under 40 dB, this thermal circulator is quieter than your refrigerator, so this suvee cooker won't interrupt movie night or wake a sleeping baby. A broad temperature range (32°F–194°F / 0°C–90°C) and the ±1°F(0.1℃) accuracy locks in edge-to-edge perfection, whether you're craving 129°F medium-rare steak or delicate soft eggs for brunch. Set the 100-hour timer and focus on your day instead of hovering over the stove
  • Protection and Temperature Alarm: If water drops below the minimum line, this smart sous vide circulator will auto-shuts off and triggers an immediate alarm. When your target temperature is reached or cooking finishes, the alert notifies you right away via mobile notification. Unattended precision that this sous-vide fits your real schedule
  • Fast Heat,Easy Clean & Durable: The immersion cooker has adopted stainless steel column and high-end fast heating element. The 1000W stainless steel element brings water up to temp rapidly, while 3D circulation keeps the entire bath consistent. When dinner is done, the detachable stainless steel sleeve rinses clean in seconds. Designed for everyday home chefs, this InkSous wifi sous vide cooker ISSV-200-W delivers restaurant-quality meals while keeping cleanup simple
  • Temperature and cooking profile: Campaign materials described recipe-based programs and adjustable doneness, tenderness, and timing.
  • Manual or connected operation: The device was promoted with controls on the appliance as well as Wi-Fi operation through a phone app. The aim was to let a cook check or adjust a cook without standing beside the pot.
  • Recipe guidance: Nise Tech advertised an app library of hundreds of recipes with preparation and cooking instructions. Shareable recipes and scan-to-cook meal packs were also discussed as part of the product ecosystem. These are campaign-era claims; there is no verified current app catalog or meal-pack service.
  • Voice control: Alexa integration was announced as a Kickstarter stretch-goal feature. That announcement does not establish that the feature shipped, remains functional, or works with current services.
  • Completion-time scheduling: The distinctive claim was that the device could adapt its temperature profile around a desired mealtime rather than simply hold one temperature for a set duration.

The phrase “personal chef” appeared in promotional materials. It should be understood as marketing, not evidence that the appliance independently plans meals or guarantees results.

How adaptive temperature scheduling was supposed to work

In ordinary sous vide, a circulator generally heats and circulates water at a chosen temperature. A timer can tell the cook how long to leave food in the bath, but the device does not necessarily make dinner arrive at a specific time by changing the cooking curve.

Nise Tech described a different approach: the user would choose a recipe or profile, specify preferences such as doneness or tenderness, and set a desired completion time. The system would then generate a temperature curve and make small adjustments during the cook, with the intention of having the food reach the selected state near mealtime. For example, someone planning dinner after work could set a target time rather than start a fixed-temperature cook and calculate when it might finish. Campaign coverage also said the system could postpone a final phase if the user was delayed. The company’s description of the feature does not include a complete algorithm or enough technical detail to independently assess it.

Anova Culinary Sous Vide Precision Cooker 3.0 (WiFi), 1100 Watts, Stainless Steel
  • Pros have been doing it for years, and now you can too. Sous vide (pronounced sue-veed) is a cooking technique that utilizes highly precise temperature control in a circulating bath of water to deliver consistent, edge-to-edge perfect results, with virtually no risk of overcooking your food.
  • Our best-seller, only better. The first Anova Precision Cooker launched in 2014 and started a home-cooking revolution — bringing sous vide to the masses and making Anova a household name in the process. This third generation of our flagship sous vide circulator adds key improvements, making perfect results easier to achieve than ever before. What’s different: 1) We upgraded to use dual band WiFi for improved connectivity. 2) A two-line touch screen display allows you to quickly view time and temperature.
  • The adjustable clamp makes it an ideal fit on nearly any pot that is deep enough to meet the minimum water depth requirements. A removable stainless steel skirt on the cooker’s lower half makes it easy as a twist of the wrist to detach and clean the skirt either by hand or in the dishwasher.
  • Anova App (free): Control your time and temp directly on the Anova app or directly on the cooker itself.
  • Anova App (subscription): For $1.99 a month or $9.99 a year (cancel subscription at anytime), get access to the ultimate sous vide educational content and cooking guides. Recipes from professional chefs and the food nerd community feed directly to your Precision Cooker at the touch of a button. Continuous access to your personal recipes and cook history, ready to revisit or share with your friends and family. Two week free trial included.

Important questions remain unanswered: how the profile accounted for food thickness, starting temperature, water volume, or a late start; whether the target time referred to water temperature or the food’s center; whether food-safety constraints took precedence over the schedule; and what happened during a Wi-Fi or power interruption. No independent test data, temperature graphs, accuracy measurements, or post-shipment reliability evidence was located. The adaptive system is therefore best described as an advertised feature, not a verified performance advantage.

Specifications and historical price

Campaign-era materials listed a 1,200-watt rating, Wi-Fi connectivity, manual operation, a compact design, and an IP67 water-resistance claim. They positioned the device for use with an ordinary pot. Wattage alone does not prove faster heating: results also depend on water volume and starting temperature, vessel shape, insulation or a lid, ambient conditions, and circulation design. A complete compatibility chart, including pot size, water limits, clamp fit, and minimum pump depth, is not established by the available material.

The IP67 figure is a stated rating, not a substitute for the manufacturer’s actual operating and cleaning instructions. It should not be paraphrased as permission to submerge the whole appliance or wash it in any manner.

Reported Kickstarter-era prices ranged from about $119 for early rewards to later references around $125; Indiegogo InDemand coverage cited about $129. Those are 2017 crowdfunding prices, not current retail values. Historical campaign materials also claimed that the device used about 20% of a traditional electric stove’s power and that a 12-hour cook could cost roughly $0.13 in electricity in most states. Those promotional estimates depend on assumptions not supplied in the available material, and instantaneous wattage is not the same as total energy used over a cook. They should not be treated as a universal cost or savings estimate.

What it could cook—and what it could not do

Promotional examples included steak, chicken, salmon, vegetables, vegan soups, desserts such as cheesecake and crème brûlée, and drink infusions. The circulator controls the water bath; it does not brown food. A steak cooked sous vide generally needs a separate hot-pan or torch finish for a browned crust. Campaign material itself described searing as a finishing step. A historical product presentation includes that distinction.

Nor does “set it and forget it” mean every food can safely remain unattended for any length of time. Safe results depend on the food, thickness, temperature, bagging, and time, as well as the reliability of the appliance and water level. Follow authoritative food-safety guidance and the cooker’s instructions for the particular food; do not infer safety limits from a scheduling feature.

What is known—and not known—about delivery and support

After the Kickstarter, the product was also listed in Japan; a Japanese crowdfunding page described its arrival there following North American crowdfunding. This is evidence of a later market push, not current US availability or support.

As of August 16, 2026, the available evidence does not verify a current official sales page, app download and account setup, cloud-service status, firmware history, warranty, parts supply, or customer-support operation. It also does not establish the final shipment completion rate, temperature accuracy, manufacturing quality, or long-term reliability. A Reddit user around 2020 reported that the product was out of stock and that they had not received a response about restocking, but that is anecdotal rather than proof of permanent discontinuation. The discussion is a warning signal, not a definitive company status notice.

This distinction matters with connected appliances. A unit might still heat water while app features fail—or it might rely on pairing, account access, or cloud services that no longer work. There is no verified recovery procedure for lost Wi-Fi, a changed phone, failed account creation, or service shutdown. Do not assume manual operation remains available or that a used unit can be activated; test both on the actual device.

Should you buy a used Nise Wave?

Only consider one as a used-device experiment or collectible if the price reflects the support uncertainty and the seller lets you test it. Before paying, check:

  1. That the unit powers on and the display and physical controls respond.
  2. That the app is available for your phone and that you can create an account, pair the cooker, and reach any promised controls.
  3. That it heats and circulates water in a supervised test; look for error messages, abnormal noise, leaks, or erratic behavior.
  4. The cord, clamp, housing, seals, and pump inlet for wear or damage.
  5. Whether the seller has proof of purchase and any remaining warranty terms—but independently confirm that a warranty can still be claimed.
  6. Whether the seller can demonstrate the specific scheduling and Wi-Fi features you intend to use, not merely show old campaign screenshots.

Do not pay a premium based on the original $119–$129 campaign price, the adaptive-temperature promise, or claimed recipe and voice-control features. If app or server access is essential to your use, regard the purchase as unsuitable unless that functionality is demonstrated before sale.

More practical alternatives today

If you want a sous-vide circulator for regular use, compare currently listed products from established vendors and check the exact model’s support, warranty, app requirements, and return terms at purchase time. The relevant product details and prices can change, so a brand name alone is not proof that a particular model is available or supported.

  • Anova Precision Cooker is a connected-cooker option to investigate. Confirm the current model’s Wi-Fi features and whether any desired app functions require an account or paid plan.
  • Breville Joule is a compact, app-oriented alternative for cooks who value guided recipes. Do not assume it duplicates Nise Wave’s advertised ready-at-a-chosen-time temperature curve; check phone compatibility and how much operation depends on the app.
  • Inkbird offers value-oriented circulator options. Verify the exact model’s temperature range, water-resistance rating, warranty, and app support rather than applying a general brand claim to every unit.
  • Monoprice and other sellers may offer conventional immersion circulators. A simpler manual cooker may be preferable if you want basic temperature control without dependence on a discontinued cloud ecosystem, but compare model-specific specifications and support.

For any alternative, compare the control method, documented support and replacement parts, warranty, water-volume capacity, heating rating, temperature-stability evidence, scheduling behavior, and account or subscription requirements. Nise Wave’s appeal was timing automation and a guided cooking ecosystem; a current model may be a more practical choice even if it does not make the same adaptive-timing promise. No live alternative prices or model-specific performance comparison are established here, so confirm those details directly with the vendor.

Verdict

Nise Wave was an intriguing 2017 attempt to make sous vide schedule around dinner time, not just a set-temperature timer. Its campaign attracted substantial backing and described a 1,200-watt Wi-Fi cooker with recipes and adaptive temperature control. But the key differentiator is documented mainly through promotional descriptions, while present-day availability, app access, support, and performance remain unverified. In 2026, buy only a used unit you can test in person—including its app and manual controls. For dependable everyday cooking, a currently supported circulator with verifiable warranty and app or offline operation is the safer practical choice.
