Midea announced MevoX, a “self-evolving” home agent, at a Shanghai smart-home strategy conference on March 10, 2026. The launch also introduced the company’s “Three Ones” strategy and MIA 1.0, a household coordination system described as a home “autopilot.” The announcement points to a shift from controlling appliances one by one toward coordinating whole-home scenarios, but it does not establish broad consumer availability, independent performance, or support in any particular market outside China.
What Midea announced in Shanghai
At its 2026 Whole-House Smart Strategy Conference in Shanghai, themed “智美万象” (“Smart Beauty, Myriad Possibilities”), Midea presented a broader platform strategy—not just a new appliance. Launch coverage described MevoX as the AI home agent, MIA 1.0 as a household-level coordination system, and a “Three Ones” framework for connecting appliances, intelligence, and services. The event also included whole-house product suites and scenario-based solutions. Launch coverage and a smart-home industry report describe the March 10 announcement. Midea’s indexed official materials document its broader smart-home strategy and related services, but do not provide a clearly identifiable official product page dedicated to the MevoX launch.
The “Three Ones” framework
- One appliance network: Connect appliances across household categories.
- One intelligent brain: Coordinate devices and scenarios through a shared intelligence layer.
- One open platform: Bring together Midea products and outside partners.
Strategically, this suggests Midea wants to do more than sell connected appliances: it aims to make its ecosystem the layer that interprets requests and coordinates household devices. “Open,” however, does not establish universal compatibility or prove that every third-party device receives the same control capabilities.
MevoX and MIA 1.0 are related, not interchangeable names
Midea describes MevoX as the home agent. MIA 1.0 is reported as the “Midea home Intelligent Autopilot System,” a system-level coordination and decision layer. The launch materials do not establish that MevoX, MIA 1.0, the Midea Home app, Xiaomei, COLMO AI HOME, a central-control screen, and a home host are all one product. They are better understood as related parts of a wider strategy unless Midea specifies otherwise.

What “self-evolving” is supposed to mean
In Midea’s framing, “self-evolving” describes an agent intended to interpret more than literal device commands and improve how it serves a household. The claimed capabilities can be translated into several practical functions:
- Reasoning and intent understanding: Handle requests that involve several needs or do not name a specific appliance.
- Persistent memory: Retain household preferences or context to personalize later responses.
- Scenario generation: Create or adapt routines rather than requiring users to configure every rule manually.
- Multi-device coordination: Treat multiple appliances as parts of one household task.
- Proactive service: Potentially suggest or initiate actions based on context, time, conditions, or learned habits.
These are company-described capabilities, not independently measured results. The launch coverage does not publish accuracy, learning speed, false-trigger rates, response latency, energy savings, or reliability testing. “Self-evolving” should therefore be read as Midea’s product positioning, not proof that the system learns every household correctly or safely.
How this differs from conventional smart-home automation

The key distinction is the intended interface: tell the system what outcome you want, rather than which appliance to operate and in what sequence. That ambition raises an important design question: can users inspect, edit, approve, limit, or undo what the agent does? The launch materials do not establish those controls, particularly for higher-consequence equipment such as locks, ovens, water systems, or high-power heating and cooling.
What a coordinated home could look like
Midea’s wider whole-house materials describe scenarios involving air conditioning and air quality, refrigerators and kitchen appliances, washers and dryers, lighting, curtains, water heaters, robot vacuums, smart locks, and central-control hardware. Midea says its Midea Home app supports household scenarios such as arriving home, leaving, air, water, health, lighting, security, and energy. These examples describe the company’s broader ecosystem, not a verified list of devices that work with every MevoX installation. Midea’s whole-house strategy and app material also describes the Xiaomei AI assistant in the app, including voice interaction, multi-intent commands, personalized scene generation, product-use help, maintenance booking, and household planning features. Those Xiaomei features should not automatically be attributed to MevoX.

As an illustration of the stated direction—not a hands-on test—a request such as “prepare the home for my return” might be translated into a scene involving climate, air quality, lights, or curtains. Whether MevoX can actually control each item depends on compatible models, region, setup, permissions, and available integrations; the announcement does not publish a complete supported-device list.
Hardware and local-control claims are configuration-specific
In later official exhibition material, Midea describes an AI central-control screen and a home host acting as a local computing center. That material says the host can support up to 128 directly connected subdevices in the described configuration and that local networking can preserve device control during an internet outage. The same material describes COLMO Turing 2.0 appliances across 11 categories. These claims concern the described products and configuration; they do not establish that every MevoX home has a host, supports 128 devices, or continues all functions offline. Midea’s exhibition and whole-house AI material provides those details.
Where the app and partner ecosystem fit
Midea Home appears to be the consumer-facing app and service layer in the company’s broader AI-home strategy. In addition to device control, Midea describes voice and visual interaction, fuzzy-command handling, personalized scenes, product assistance, and installation or maintenance bookings. The company’s 2025 annual-report material says the app was upgraded around the Xiaomei AI home assistant and intended to cover multiple household-life scenarios. Midea’s annual-report material is about the app and broader platform, not proof that MevoX itself is available through it.

Midea has also documented work with phone, vehicle, and technology partners—including Huawei, HONOR, BYD, and others—around “human–car–home” scenarios. Those announcements indicate cooperation, but a partnership announcement is not by itself proof of a generally available integration, nor does it define the depth of control. For example, Midea’s materials describe cooperation with BYD, Huawei, and HONOR.

At the Shanghai launch, a report attributed several scale figures to Midea: around 500 million network-capable appliances across categories, more than 140 million smart appliances connected globally, more than 150 million connected smart users, and AI deployment across more than 150 product categories. These are company-reported figures, and the terms “network-capable,” “connected,” and “user” may reflect different definitions. In a separate official update, Midea reported more than 100 million smart appliances connected nationwide in China. That China figure and the launch report’s global figure describe different geographies and potentially different dates or definitions, so they should not be treated as competing like-for-like totals. Midea’s infrastructure update gives the separate China figure.

The available launch materials do not establish a standalone retail product or a complete consumer offer for MevoX or MIA 1.0. They do not specify retail availability, supported countries and languages, compatible models, required hub or screen, subscription terms, or whether the system is a shipping feature or a future-facing platform announcement. They also do not provide independent results on privacy, security, reliability, or operation during outages. In particular, there is no basis here to assume that a Wi-Fi-equipped Midea appliance automatically gets every AI feature.

- Connectivity: Which functions work locally if the internet, cloud service, or home network is unavailable?
- Permissions and safety: Can users restrict devices, set approval requirements, override actions, and see an event history?
- Household access: How are shared accounts, guests, children, and conflicting preferences handled?
- Privacy: What voice, occupancy, appliance-use, location, or vehicle data is collected, where is it processed, and how long is it retained?
- Continuity: What happens after a power failure, account lockout, firmware change, or discontinued cloud service?
The available material does not answer these questions for MevoX. In a whole-house system, the answers affect not just convenience but long-term serviceability, privacy, and how much control the homeowner retains.

How it compares with other smart-home approaches
MevoX is best compared with other platform categories, not treated as a proven one-for-one replacement. Midea’s differentiator is its appliance-centered strategy; the actual breadth of cross-brand interoperability remains to be established.

Midea’s “open platform” language is not evidence that MevoX is a universal, vendor-neutral alternative to Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, Home Assistant, or Matter-based systems. Buyers should distinguish announced partnerships from tested interoperability and a published compatibility list.
What to look for before buying into the strategy
Midea’s announcement makes its ecosystem worth watching, especially for people already considering a coordinated appliance installation. Before choosing products on the expectation of MevoX features, look for a regional product list, exact model compatibility, local-versus-cloud processing details, privacy and retention terms, hub requirements, subscription information, and independent testing. Without those details, the announcement is a strategy signal—not a basis for assuming a complete, available smart-home system.
