The LQ-Y06 is a low-cost Wi-Fi infrared blaster that lets Tuya Smart or Smart Life send commands to compatible IR appliances. It may be a bargain for a TV or other straightforward device, but it is not a universal remote for every wireless technology: it requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, depends on app-based setup, and cannot control RF or Bluetooth remotes.
What the LQ-Y06 is
The LQ-Y06 is a small, USB-powered hub that receives commands over Wi-Fi and transmits infrared signals to appliances. Listings identify versions under names including Arealer, Aubess, Dodocool and generic labels. That variation makes the model number a more useful identifier than the brand, but it does not prove every seller’s batch has identical hardware or support.
The supplied product manual describes Tuya Smart and Smart Life control. Retail listings also claim Alexa and Google Home integration. Treat those as ecosystem features to verify for the specific listing and app account, not as proof of a fully supported smart-home platform.

Specifications and package details are described in the LQ-Y06 product manual. Retail descriptions provide additional claims, including the database figure and IR-only limitations, but they are not independent performance tests.

What it can control
Seller descriptions list televisions, air conditioners, fans, set-top boxes, DVD players, audio equipment and similar appliances. These are advertised categories, not a promise of compatibility with every model. The appliance needs to receive compatible infrared signals, and the LQ-Y06 needs a usable path to its IR sensor.
- Likely candidates: conventional TV, DVD player or set-top-box remotes that use infrared.
- More demanding: air conditioners, whose remotes can send a complete state—such as mode, temperature and fan speed—in one command. A profile that handles power may not handle every setting reliably.
- Not suitable on the available specifications: RF ceiling-fan remotes, RF garage-door openers, Bluetooth streaming-device remotes, Zigbee devices and other non-IR controls.
IR control is generally one-way: the blaster sends a command but does not confirm that the appliance received it or report its actual state. An app icon showing “on” should not be treated as proof that the appliance is on.
How setup and appliance programming work
The manual describes app-based pairing and appliance profiles. Exact labels can vary, so use the universal-remote or IR-remote category presented by your version of Tuya Smart or Smart Life.

- Check that the appliance uses an IR remote, and have a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network available.
- Connect the LQ-Y06 to a reliable 5V USB supply. Place it in the same room as the appliance, with a reasonably clear path to its IR receiver.
- Install Tuya Smart or Smart Life on an Android or iOS device and sign in.
- In the app, tap the add-device control and choose the universal remote or IR-remote category. Follow the pairing prompts to connect the hub to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
- Select the appliance category and brand, then test the suggested profiles. Keep the one that operates the commands you need.
- Give the appliance a clear name and test it from its intended operating location.
If the cloud database lacks a suitable profile, listings describe a learning or DIY function. In the appliance’s remote settings, choose that function, point the original remote at the hub, press the requested button when prompted, save the command and test it. Learning is for compatible IR signals, not RF or Bluetooth. Unusual protocols, long packets or complex air-conditioner commands may not learn or replay correctly, and entering many buttons individually can take time.
Wi-Fi, placement and troubleshooting
If pairing fails
- Use a clearly identified 2.4GHz network. If the router combines 2.4GHz and 5GHz under one name, temporarily expose or separate the 2.4GHz band and connect the phone to it during setup.
- Check the password, move the hub near the router and confirm that the hub is in pairing mode. The manual describes an indicator and pairing/reset behavior; follow the instructions for the physical unit because reset steps may vary.
- Guest networks can block device discovery. Enterprise authentication, captive portals, hidden networks or WPA3-only configurations may also complicate setup; if necessary, try a straightforward WPA2 2.4GHz network.
- If the app behaves inconsistently, temporarily disable mobile data and retry. Use an alternate pairing method offered by the app, if available.
If commands do not work reliably
- Check that the appliance uses IR, select another profile for its brand, and make sure the hub is not hidden behind a cabinet or blocked by furniture.
- Test from a closer, clearer position. Bright sunlight, the appliance’s receiver angle and the strength and direction of the hub’s IR LEDs can affect results.
- If only some buttons work, the profile may have an incomplete or imperfect button map. Try learning the missing commands, while allowing for the possibility that a complex command will not reproduce reliably.
Listings advertise 360-degree coverage and one gives an approximately 8 m / 26 ft range for an air conditioner. Neither figure is established by independent testing in the available sources; do not plan around a signal passing through walls or reliably reaching appliances in another room.
Alexa and Google Home
The manual and listings claim Alexa and Google Home integration through Tuya or Smart Life. The general route is to link the app account to the voice assistant, discover devices, then use the controls or scenes the assistant makes available. Names, room assignments, country and account settings can affect what appears.

Voice support does not necessarily expose every remote button. Simple commands may be easier to use than a multi-setting air-conditioner adjustment. If the assistant does not offer a needed action directly, a scene may provide a more practical voice command. Check the seller’s documentation and the app’s integration options before buying for a specific voice-control task.

Retail snapshots associated with listings showed examples from about $7.43 to $13.00, plus a €11.47 example. These are observed listing prices, not a stable market price or a verified lowest price; shipping, taxes, delivery terms and availability vary by destination and date.
For example, the Gearbest listing showed $7.43, the Walmart Business listing showed $11.94, and an eBay listing showed $13.00 or best offer. A Joom listing showed $11.47, with a lower per-item price for orders of three or more; Digital Zakka showed $4.99 shipping while its item price was not clearly surfaced. Listings can change, and a third-party marketplace price is not a measure of product quality.

Compare the delivered cost rather than the headline number. Include shipping, taxes or import charges, a USB wall adapter if needed, and the practical value of the seller’s returns and replacement terms. Confirm the listing identifies the LQ-Y06, shows the Tuya or Smart Life app, and gives enough detail about its power and included cable. A slightly higher price may be the better risk if the seller offers clearer returns.

The available product information centers on Tuya or Smart Life and app-managed device profiles; it does not establish a fully local operating mode. That matters if your setup depends on an internet connection, an account link or a cloud profile remaining available. Do not assume that automations will continue unchanged if the app, account integration or device database changes.
Branding and some listing details are inconsistent: one title uses “WiFi-RF” even though detailed descriptions identify IR, and a marketplace metadata field labels power as “Battery” despite USB/DC specifications in the manual. Prioritize the repeated technical description and manual, and ask the seller to clarify discrepancies before ordering. The available sources also do not independently establish IR range, command reliability, latency, cloud uptime or long-term durability.

Advanced owners may find LQ-Y06-related hardware and firmware discussions at Blakadder and Elektroda. These discussions do not establish that every production batch has the same module or firmware support. Opening the unit or flashing custom firmware can compromise returns, damage the device or leave it unusable; it is not a substitute for supported stock setup.
Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere?
It may suit you if
- You already use Tuya Smart or Smart Life and want inexpensive app control of conventional IR appliances in one room.
- You have 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, can position the hub with a practical IR path, and are comfortable trying profiles or learning basic commands.
- You value a low purchase price more than polished documentation, a clearly identified manufacturer or established support.
Choose another approach if
- You need RF, Bluetooth, Zigbee or proprietary wireless control, or must send commands through walls or between rooms.
- You require local-only operation, dependable state feedback, or strong warranty and manufacturer support.
- Your main goal is reliable air-conditioner state synchronization and you cannot tolerate trial and error.
- You need confirmed native Home Assistant support without custom work. A better-documented branded IR hub may offer clearer support; an RF-capable hub is needed for compatible RF equipment; a replacement remote may be simpler for one appliance.
The LQ-Y06 is best judged as a low-cost Tuya-style IR transmitter, not a general-purpose smart-home hub. Its value depends on whether the exact appliance can be controlled, whether the delivered price still looks attractive after setup costs, and whether the app and cloud trade-offs suit your home.
