LG’s StanbyME 2 is a 27-inch smart screen designed to move around a home: it rolls on a wheeled stand, detaches for use elsewhere, and can run on its built-in battery. The QHD touchscreen runs webOS and supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, but those format labels do not make it a substitute for a large home-theater TV and speaker system. Its appeal is flexibility—not screen size or value for money.
What is the LG StanbyME 2?
The StanbyME 2 is best understood as a movable smart screen rather than a conventional television, computer monitor, or tablet. Its 27-inch display combines touch controls, webOS streaming features, wireless casting, a battery, and a wheeled docking stand. The screen can be detached from the stand with a one-click mechanism, used in landscape or portrait orientation, and placed on a table or mounted on a wall with the appropriate accessory.
LG first showed the model at CES 2025 and began its U.S. rollout on July 29, 2025. The U.S. model number is 27LX6TYGA. It is therefore an established 2025 product, not a newly unveiled 2026 model. LG’s U.S. launch announcement describes the screen’s detachable design and rollout.

These figures are for the original 27-inch StanbyME 2, not the newer 32-inch StanbyME 2 Max. LG’s U.S. product page and global rollout announcement provide product details. Exact port counts and included accessories can differ by configuration or region, so check the specification sheet for the particular package.

How the movable design works
There are two kinds of mobility. With the screen attached, the stand’s wheels let you roll the whole setup between rooms. Detached, the screen can be carried separately and used on its own, including away from an outlet for a limited time. LG lists the display at about 9.5 pounds; the screen and stand together weigh about 33.5 pounds. In practice, this is a system for rearranging within a home, not a lightweight screen to carry routinely in a backpack or take on a commute. The stand supports landscape and portrait use. The detached display can be positioned flat on a table or mounted on a wall using a suitable accessory. A compatible strap or other accessory may help with carrying or alternative placement, but should not be assumed to come with every screen-only configuration. LG lists separate carry-strap and speaker-bundle packages.
That makes the concept useful for moving a display from a kitchen to a bedroom, following a workout, or setting up a screen where a permanent wall-mounted TV would be inconvenient. The trade-off is that wheeled mobility, detachable operation, and a battery add cost and bulk. If the display will stay in one room, a conventional television or monitor is likely a simpler buy.

What Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos mean here
Dolby Vision is an HDR picture format. It can provide the intended HDR presentation when the content is mastered in Dolby Vision, but format support alone does not establish a display’s brightness, contrast, or overall picture performance. Those qualities depend on the screen itself and the viewing conditions.
Dolby Atmos is an audio format and processing capability. The StanbyME 2 uses built-in side-firing speakers and virtualized audio processing; it does not have a room-filling array of separate Atmos speakers. LG describes orientation-based sound adjustment, and its global announcement cites virtual 9.1.2-channel processing. Ordinary stereo content does not automatically become a native Atmos mix, and compact built-in speakers should not be expected to reproduce the bass or separation of a dedicated sound system. The accurate claim is that the screen supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos—not that it guarantees a theater-like experience.
Streaming, casting, and touch features
Because webOS is built in, the StanbyME 2 can run supported streaming apps without a computer or separate streaming stick. LG advertises more than 350 free LG Channels on its U.S. page; channel counts and availability vary by country and may change. The screen also supports Apple AirPlay and Google Cast for sharing from compatible devices, along with LG ThinQ and Google Home integration. App availability and smart-home functions depend on region, software, accounts, and network setup.

Touch controls broaden its uses beyond passive viewing. LG highlights games, drawing tools, ambient artwork, clocks, and weather displays through features such as Let’s Draw and Mood Maker. A user might put a recipe beside a work surface, mirror a phone, or display a large clock. Some streaming apps and video formats are designed for landscape viewing, however, so portrait orientation does not guarantee that every app will fill the screen vertically.

New Atlas reports HDMI and USB connectivity and use of a compatible USB webcam for video calls. Do not assume every webcam or calling service is supported simply because the display has USB; compatibility depends on the device and software. Wireless casting can also fail if devices are on different networks or a router, VPN, or guest-network setting blocks discovery.
Battery life, charging, and practical limits
LG rates the battery for up to four hours of video playback. “Up to” is a best-case claim, not a promised runtime: brightness, Wi-Fi use, apps, content, settings, and battery age can all affect it. The battery is suited to a movie or a shorter session in a room without a convenient outlet, not dependable all-day operation.

The screen can charge on its docking stand or over USB-C. LG specifies 65 W for an external backup battery or charger, so a low-output phone power bank may not supply enough power. Confirm the charger’s output rather than relying on the USB-C connector alone.
Portability also does not mean outdoor durability. The product is not described as weatherproof; New Atlas reports no water- or dust-resistance rating. Keep it away from rain, excessive dust, prolonged direct sun, and unstable placement. The detached display also loses the rolling base, so use a supported placement method rather than balancing it precariously.

U.S. price and availability
LG announced a U.S. starting price of $1,299.99 when rollout began on July 29, 2025. In a product-page snapshot retrieved on August 18, 2026, LG displayed $799.99 for the screen-only configuration. That is a dated listing, not a guaranteed current offer: prices, promotions, stock, and bundle contents can change. Check the live LG product page and the final cart price before buying. Accessories and bundles may cost extra.

LG rolled the product out internationally in phases, so availability, warranty terms, app catalogs, included accessories, and pricing vary by country. The U.S. price and LG Channels details above should not be assumed to apply elsewhere.
StanbyME 2 versus StanbyME 2 Max
LG introduced a separate, larger model, the StanbyME 2 Max, in 2026. It is not simply a higher-resolution setting for the 27-inch screen.

The Max’s launch price is not necessarily its current selling price, and the two models may have different availability or promotions. Consult LG’s StanbyME 2 Max announcement for its specifications. Do not attribute the Max’s 4K resolution, 4.5-hour battery claim, or Gen3 processor to the 27-inch StanbyME 2.
Who should consider it?
- Consider the StanbyME 2 if you will genuinely move one screen between rooms, value detachable use or touch interaction, and want built-in streaming without a computer.
- Consider the StanbyME 2 Max if you like the movable-screen idea but place greater value on a larger 32-inch 4K picture and accept the larger form factor.
- Choose a fixed smart TV if the screen will remain in one place; it will generally offer more screen area for the money.
- Choose a monitor if desk use and computer connectivity matter most and you do not need a battery or wheeled stand.
- Choose a tablet if genuine personal portability, app flexibility, and video calls matter more than a large shared display.
- Choose a projector if a much larger occasional movie image matters more than easy setup, daylight viewing, or an all-in-one design.
The StanbyME 2 is a specialized lifestyle display, not a value-first way to buy a television. Its strongest case is the combination of room-to-room movement, detachable use, touch controls, and short battery-powered sessions. Its weakest case is a buyer who mainly wants the largest, best-value fixed screen—or expects “portable” and Dolby branding to mean ruggedness or home-theater performance.
