Use an AI voice generator for music only after you have permission to use the source voice, and check the tool’s current terms before you upload audio or release the result. First decide whether you need a newly generated sung vocal or a conversion of a performance you already have; then document the source, consent, tool, and applicable plan or voice-model terms for that project.
Choose The Voice Workflow You Need
Singing generation and voice conversion are different jobs. A generated vocal starts from musical material such as lyrics or MIDI. Conversion starts with a recorded performance and changes its voice. The distinction matters because the original singer’s performance and the target voice raise separate permission questions.

Get Consent Before You Prepare Audio
For a cloned or converted voice, get the voice owner’s explicit permission for the specific recording and intended uses before uploading it or training a model. A person’s permission to record a song does not, by itself, establish permission to clone their voice or use a generated version in a release. Keep a record of what was authorized and ask the vendor about any consent requirements its listing does not establish.

- Identify the source recording and the person whose voice it contains.
- Ask permission that covers voice cloning or conversion, the project, and any planned public or commercial release.
- Confirm that you have the rights needed for the recording and musical material you will upload.
- For a model you did not train, check who may use it and whether its terms allow your intended release.
Check The Tool’s Terms Before Uploading
Do not treat a tool’s ability to generate or convert a voice as permission to use a voice, model, or output in any particular way.
