How To Start Making EDM Music With AI

Start with an 8- or 16-bar EDM loop, turn it into a drop-focused arrangement, export separate parts, and finish the mix in a digital audio workstation (DAW). Use AI for fast ideas, then edit the kick, bass, synth and transitions yourself so the track stays danceable and clearly yours.

Set Up An EDM Brief Before You Generate

Write a short brief before opening a generator. State the tempo range you want, a four-on-the-floor kick, the main bass role, the drop length, and the energy curve. For example: “128 BPM festival EDM, tight four-on-the-floor kick, sidechain-ready offbeat bass, bright supersaw hook, 16-bar build, eight-bar drop, snare roll into the drop, instrumental.” Treat “sidechain-ready” as an arrangement request; you still need to apply compression in your DAW.

• Groove: Keep the kick on every quarter note and leave space for the bass between kicks.
• Hook: Ask for one short synth motif that can repeat without tiring the listener.
• Energy: Specify a restrained breakdown, rising automation, and a clearly marked drop.
• Materials: Request instrumental output when you plan to add your own vocal or topline.

Build The First EDM Loop

1. Choose one generator. Pick Beat Shaper or InsMelo AI Beat Maker when you want beat parameters and editable parts. 3. Generate several variations. Keep the brief fixed and change one variable at a time, such as a darker bass, shorter intro or wider drop. Save the version with the cleanest kick-to-bass relationship rather than the one with the most layers.
4. Check the arrangement manually. Label intro, build, drop, breakdown and final drop. Remove any section that does not increase or release energy. If the tool creates vocals you do not need, regenerate as instrumental where that option is available or replace the vocal in your DAW.

Choose one kick and make its tail short enough to leave room for the sub. Add claps or snares to mark the backbeat, then use a short fill before each drop. Create The Build And Drop

Remove low frequencies during the build, increase snare density, and add a short silence immediately before the drop. Duplicate the drop only after changing one element, such as the counter-melody or fill, so the second impact feels larger without adding constant loudness.

Export And Finish In Your DAW

1. Export the highest useful format. Use MIDI when you need to change notes, stems when you need separate mixing, and WAV when you need full-quality audio. The available formats vary by product and plan.
2. Organize by role. Name files Kick, Drums, Sub, Mid Bass, Lead, Pads, FX and Vocal, then align every clip to the same project tempo.
3. Mix for translation. Balance kick and sub first, check the drop at low volume, and listen on headphones plus your smart speaker or phone. Keep the master from clipping while you compare sections.
4. Confirm usage rights before publishing. Free tiers may be personal or non-commercial: Suno’s Free Plan has no commercial rights, Eleven Music’s Free plan is personal use, Loudly’s free tracks are 30 seconds, and InsMelo says commercial rights depend on its subscription or license terms. Check the current vendor terms for every voice, sample, cover and export.

Use A Repeatable Prompt Template

Copy this structure and replace the brackets: “EDM, [tempo] BPM, [subgenre or mood], four-on-the-floor kick, [bass description], [lead sound], [vocal or instrumental], [intro length], [build length], [drop length], [breakdown], clean ending, no extra genres.” Save the prompt beside each exported version so you can reproduce the arrangement while changing only one musical decision.
