To make an AI cover in your own voice, record yourself singing the song, then use a tool that supports singing-voice conversion or training a custom singing voice. Keep the melody and timing clear in your recording, compare the converted vocal with the backing track, and check the tool’s terms before sharing the result.
Choose A Workflow That Uses Your Own Singing
For a cover, the source performance matters: the tool needs a vocal take to transform, or enough material to create a custom singing voice. These options have different stated capabilities.

Prepare The Song And Your Vocal Take
- Pick the song and decide what you are changing. Note the melody, tempo, key if known, and the sections you plan to cover. Decide whether you want a close rendition or a changed delivery, such as softer verses and a stronger chorus.
- Use a backing track you are allowed to use. If you have a mixed recording and need to isolate its vocal or instruments, LALAL.AI separates vocals and instruments. - Record a clean guide performance in your own voice. Sing the complete passage you want transformed with the melody and rhythm you intend to keep. - Make a second take for expressive changes. If the chorus should lift, sing it with more energy; if you want an intimate verse, use a lighter delivery. Voice conversion can only work from the performance you provide, so make the phrasing clear in the source take.

- Render a short section first. Start with one verse or chorus, then listen for missed words, unstable notes, or timing that no longer matches the backing. Revise your source take or settings according to the controls the chosen tool actually provides.
Fit The Vocal To The Backing Track
- Import the converted vocal and backing into an audio editor or DAW. Line up the first sung beat, then listen through the section for drift. Voice-Swap lists VST/AU plugins and DAW-ready workflows; the other listed tools’ supplied details do not establish a particular DAW integration.
- Check musical fit before adding effects. Listen for whether the melody sits in the song’s key, whether consonants land with the beat, and whether long notes end with the accompaniment. - Compare the verse and chorus at the same playback level. A louder chorus can feel more intense, but excessive level can obscure the backing. Make small level adjustments and replay the transition rather than judging each section alone.

Check Permission, Voice Rights, And Release Terms
