Yes. Google Home now supports Walmart’s onn cameras directly—but the roughly $23 price applies to the wired indoor camera, not every model. Google announced direct Google Home setup and control for the onn Indoor Camera Wired and onn Video Doorbell Wired in October 2025; outdoor plug-in and hardwired floodlight models joined the lineup in July 2026. They share Google Home’s camera experience, but that does not make them Nest cameras or guarantee feature-for-feature parity.
Which onn cameras work with Google Home?
Google’s October 1, 2025 announcement covered two Walmart products: the onn Indoor Camera Wired and the onn Video Doorbell Wired. Google said both could be set up and controlled through the Google Home app, with 1080p live views, intelligent alerts, and access to Gemini camera features. The announced launch prices were $22.96 for the indoor camera and $49.86 for the doorbell. Google’s announcement described U.S. availability through Walmart.com and stores.
Google subsequently added two outdoor products: the onn Outdoor Camera Plug-In and the onn Floodlight Camera Hardwired. In its July 2026 release notes and announcement, Google described direct Google Home setup and control, 1080p HDR live view, night vision, and two-way talk for the outdoor models. Current prices and exact installation specifications for those models are not established here; check their Walmart listings and manuals before buying or planning an installation.

The $22.96 figure is a price observed on Walmart’s U.S. listing for the onn Indoor Camera Wired in August 2026, not a guaranteed current price. It is an indoor, wired camera—not a battery camera or an outdoor-rated unit.

What “native Google Home support” means
Smart-home compatibility can mean anything from a basic account link to a device that is configured and managed in the home platform itself. Google says these onn models can be set up and controlled directly through Google Home, so the integration is more substantial than merely linking a manufacturer account to expose a limited feed. Google also lists onn cameras in its compatible-device directory.
“Native” does not mean the cameras are Google Nest products, nor that every Nest feature is available on every onn model. It describes their direct place in Google Home’s supported camera experience. Hardware, detection options, history, warranty, support, and software features can still vary by model. Google’s own compatibility guidance cautions that pairing and available controls differ between devices.
What the $22.96 indoor camera offers
Walmart lists the wired indoor model with 1080p HDR video, two-way talk through Google Home, and three hours of event snapshot history. Its listing also says certain functions depend on the Google Home app, Wi-Fi, and an internet connection. Google’s launch announcement adds live viewing and intelligent alerts to the core Google Home experience. Walmart says the feed can be viewed on compatible smart displays or TVs, including an onn 4K Pro; test casting with your particular display or TV rather than assuming every screen supports it. Three hours of event snapshots is not the same as a long-term video archive or continuous recording. The listing’s “history” language should not be read as unlimited cloud storage. If you need footage from days or weeks ago, check the camera’s supported history and the applicable Google Home Premium plan before purchase.
Free use versus Google Home Premium
The camera’s low hardware price can be misleading if your goal is searchable or extended cloud history. Google’s U.S. plan page currently lists these prices and benefits; plan features and eligibility can change, and availability may depend on region, language, account, device, and rollout.

Confirm which benefits apply to the exact onn model in Google’s Google Home Premium plan details and eligibility help. The available feature information does not establish that every onn camera supports every listed history or AI benefit. In particular, do not assume that “Gemini” means all AI descriptions and video search are included without a plan.

At the observed indoor-camera price, one year of hardware plus Standard would be about $122.96 before tax; with Advanced, about $222.96. Those simple totals use the listed $22.96 camera price and annual plan prices, before promotions, taxes, or price changes. Advanced alone costs more than eight times the camera’s observed price each year. If you only need occasional live viewing and short snapshot history, the subscription may outweigh the camera’s bargain price.

The newer outdoor options expand the Google Home-native range, but their power arrangements matter. The Outdoor Camera Plug-In needs a suitable outdoor power location and Wi-Fi at the mounting point; the Floodlight Camera Hardwired is intended for a hardwired installation. Google describes both as weather-resistant, but verify the exact weather rating, cable length, mounting details, electrical requirements, and warranty in the model’s product documentation. Do not assume the indoor camera can be used outside, or that an outdoor camera will work well where Wi-Fi is weak.
For a hardwired floodlight, plan around the existing electrical location and have the work performed safely by someone qualified where required. A plug-in model avoids replacing a wired fixture but still needs a protected, practical route to power. These are installation differences, not just camera settings.

How to set one up—and what to try if it fails
Google has general camera setup guidance, but the exact onn onboarding screens can depend on model and app version. Follow the instructions and QR code supplied with your particular camera; treat this as a general Google Home workflow, not a model-specific manual:
- Install or update the Google Home app and sign in with the Google Account for the household where the camera should live.
- Power the camera and wait for its setup indicator or follow the model’s setup instructions.
- In Google Home, choose the add-device flow and follow the prompts. Scan the camera QR code if requested; use the manual’s alternate pairing method if scanning fails.
- Connect it to Wi-Fi, assign it to the correct Home and room, and complete any permissions prompts.
- Test live view, notifications, and two-way talk. If using a Nest Hub, Google TV device, or compatible television, test viewing on that screen separately.
- Review the camera settings for event history, notifications, and any available AI features; verify plan requirements before relying on them.
Google’s camera setup help and general device setup guidance cover the standard process. If setup stalls, use these ordinary troubleshooting checks:
- Previously registered camera: reset it according to the model instructions before trying to add it to a different household.
- QR code does not work or camera is missing: confirm you are following the correct model instructions, update Google Home, check that your phone is on the intended Wi-Fi, and restart the camera.
- Live video works but history does not: check the supported history type, subscription eligibility, and the camera’s settings; live view does not prove that extended recording is included.
- No alerts: check notification permissions in Google Home and in the phone’s operating-system settings.
- Outdoor camera drops offline: check Wi-Fi at the final mounting location before permanent installation.
- Wrong room or household: verify the Google Account and Home selected during setup, especially when multiple homes or household members are involved.
onn versus Nest: the practical difference
onn’s main advantage is a low entry price paired with direct Google Home support. Nest remains the clearer choice if you want Google-branded hardware and a first-party support path, or if higher-end specifications matter. Google’s current wired Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor listings advertise 2K HDR capabilities and Google Home Premium history options.
Do not infer that resolution alone determines whether a camera will suit your site. Compare the individual model’s field of view, night performance, power method, detection features, history eligibility, smart-display support, warranty, and privacy controls. The cited Google announcement confirms integration and headline features, but does not establish complete parity with Nest for familiar-face or package detection, continuous recording, reliability, update duration, or support. Check each product’s current documentation for those requirements.
Who should consider an onn camera?
- Good fit: You want an inexpensive, wired indoor camera; already use Google Home; and mainly need live view, basic alerts, and limited event snapshots.
- Consider an outdoor onn model: You want Google Home integration outdoors and can provide the plug-in or hardwired power the model requires.
- Look elsewhere or verify carefully: You need battery operation, local microSD/NVR/RTSP/ONVIF recording, offline operation, professional monitoring, or a clearly documented long-term update policy. The cited material does not establish these capabilities for onn cameras.
- Choose Nest instead: You prefer Google’s established first-party camera range, want its documented higher-end specifications, and accept the higher purchase cost and applicable subscription costs.
- Think twice about Premium: If a subscription-averse buyer is drawn mainly by the $22.96 price, compare the included snapshot history with the archive they actually need before buying.
Any internet-connected camera also makes account security and placement part of the decision. Use a well-secured Google Account, limit household access to people who need it, and avoid placing cameras where private activity could be exposed. Review Google’s current privacy and retention documentation for details such as downloads and what happens to history after a plan ends; those specifics are not established by the product information cited here.
