Verdict: The ECOVACS DEEBOT T80 OMNI is unusually compelling when hard-floor mopping is your priority. Its OZMO roller mop continuously refreshes itself with clean water, and the OMNI station washes, dries and refills it. At the US price of $399 observed on August 18, 2026, that is a substantial feature for a mid-range robot. The compromises are equally important: carpet results, clutter handling, wet-floor traction, app reliability and ongoing maintenance need more scrutiny than the headline suction figures suggest.
What the T80 OMNI is
The T80 OMNI is an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop with an OZMO roller mop, automatic dust collection, clean- and dirty-water tanks, roller washing, heated-air drying, carpet detection and AI/3D obstacle sensing. Its 98 mm-high body can fit beneath some low furniture. ECOVACS lists dimensions of 353 × 351.5 × 98 mm, a 6,400 mAh battery and approximately 4 hours 37 minutes to charge. “OMNI” describes the multifunction station, not an absence of maintenance.

The roller mop is the reason to buy it
Conventional robots drag a stationary wet pad or vibrate a flat pad. The T80 instead uses a continuously rotating roller that ECOVACS says can reach 200 rpm. Clean water is fed to the roller while a scraper removes wastewater, so the robot is not carrying one increasingly dirty pad across the entire floor. That design is especially relevant to dried food, footprints and kitchen residue, where scrubbing and frequent rinsing matter more than a high suction number.

ECOVACS specifies 3,700 Pa of mopping pressure, but that is a manufacturer-defined metric and is not directly comparable with every competitor’s rating. Independent testing by RTINGS found the roller’s cleaning power impressive and broadly comparable with more expensive ECOVACS models. RTINGS also found the T80’s stain recognition less precise than the X8 PRO OMNI’s.
A roller can reduce streaking and dirty-pad smearing, but it cannot replace a hand tool in tight inside corners, grout, stairs, furniture legs or heavily neglected areas. Edge cleaning means getting close to a boundary, not removing every particle from every 90-degree corner.
Hard floors: the strongest use case
Sealed wood, laminate, tile and similar compatible hard floors are where the T80’s design makes the most sense. The roller can repeatedly wash itself while it works, making it better suited to dining-room crumbs, kitchen film and dried splashes than a robot that keeps reusing one wet cloth.
ECOVACS claims 100% removal of large and medium particles in specified tests, 99% cleaning coverage in particular corner experiments, 9 mm edge reach, up to 100% external-corner coverage and 98% internal-corner coverage. Those are company results under defined scenarios, not guarantees for every room, floor finish or stain. Review the stated test conditions.
In practical use, inspect whether the robot makes extra passes over visible marks, leaves a damp strip by walls, or uses enough water to leave streaks on glossy tile. The continuously cleaned roller is a meaningful advantage, but water flow, floor texture and the station’s drainage still determine the final result.
Vacuuming on carpet and hard floors
ECOVACS rates maximum suction at 18,000 Pa and claims 99.4% large-particle and 100% medium-particle carpet pickup in its own tests. Those figures are not independent test results. Suction pressure alone does not establish whole-home pickup: brush design, airflow, head width, edge behavior, hair handling and navigation coverage matter too.
The ZeroTangle 3.0 system combines an anti-tangle side brush, V-shaped bristles, a spiral main brush and comb structures intended to redirect hair. “ZeroTangle” is an engineering design claim, not a promise that the brush, bearings, side brush or mop assembly never need cleaning.

Carpet-first behavior
Carpet First is intended to vacuum rugs before wet cleaning, reducing the chance of taking a wet roller onto carpet. ECOVACS lists carpet modes including Vacuum Only, No Entry, Pass Through Only and As On Floor. The mop lift is specified at 10 mm, while obstacle crossing is rated up to 20 mm. Whether that clears your particular rug depends on pile height, edges and the robot’s recognition of it.
- Low-pile carpet is the most plausible fit for routine mixed-floor cleaning.
- Medium- and high-pile, shag, tasseled or loose rugs deserve a controlled test.
- Create no-mop or no-entry zones if carpet recognition is unreliable.
- Do not assume the 10 mm lift clears every thick rug or keeps every threshold dry.
Edges, corners and furniture
TruEdge dynamically extends the roller near boundaries using edge sensors and an adapting algorithm, according to ECOVACS. It should be assessed along straight walls, cabinet kickboards, chair legs and irregular transitions. A side brush may pull debris toward the intake, but narrow inside corners and legs remain difficult for any round robot. Watch for scraping, wedging and a persistent dry strip at the wall.
Navigation and obstacle avoidance
AIVI 3D navigation combines vision AI and 3D sensors to identify obstacles and moving objects. The useful questions are practical: does mapping recognize rooms correctly, can you edit no-go zones, does the robot return to its station, and what happens around cables, socks, toys, pet bowls and chair legs?
Independent and owner evidence is mixed rather than definitive. Vacuum Wars gives the model strong overall positioning while noting an unexpected quirk. Anecdotal owner discussions describe occasional sticking, mediocre avoidance in some homes, wet-floor traction issues, odor and possible dirty-water drainage problems (sticking discussion, 30-day discussion, traction discussion, additional owner report). These are individual reports, not evidence of a population-wide defect.

What the OMNI station automates
The station empties the dustbin, washes the roller, dries it with 45°C heated air, refills clean water and collects dirty water. ECOVACS says the washing tray can operate for up to 150 days without manual maintenance under its conditions. That does not mean 150 days without checking the machine.

Allow clearance for the station’s footprint and height. A wet internal system can still smell if the roller, tray or dirty-water path stays damp or does not drain completely.

Actual room coverage changes with suction level, water use, furniture and whether the robot must recharge. Vacuuming and mopping separately also increases elapsed cleaning time.

App, maps and setup
The US support page covers setup, mapping, cleaning sequence, Carpet First, water tanks, brush removal and troubleshooting: ECOVACS T80 OMNI support. Confirm the current ECOVACS HOME app before publishing or following exact menu paths, because labels and options can change with firmware.
- Check your home’s Wi-Fi requirements during setup; do not assume every regional model supports identical bands.
- Verify room naming, map editing, cleaning order, no-go zones and per-room suction or water controls.
- Confirm whether AI Instant Re-Mop and voice controls can be disabled or adjusted.
- Understand what basic cleaning remains available if cloud or app access fails.
Maintenance and realistic running cost
The manual recommends cleaning the roller approximately weekly and replacing it every 1–2 months. Clean the side brush about every two weeks and replace it every 3–6 months; inspect the main brush about weekly. Filters, sensors, charging contacts, tanks, tray and dust bags also need regular attention. Regional manuals and firmware can differ, so US buyers should follow the current US support guidance.

Using one roller every six weeks (eight per year), three side brushes, one six-pack of bags, two filters and one twin pack of solution produces an illustrative annual consumables total of about $447 before any main-brush replacement. Who should buy the T80 OMNI?
- Buy it if your home is mostly hard floor, mopping matters, you want a roller system without X-series pricing, and you will perform routine care.
- Pet owners: it can automate daily hair and paw-print cleanup, but keep bowls, toys and cables clear and inspect brush ends and the wet path.
- Choose cautiously if thick carpet is dominant, clutter is unavoidable, or you need dependable pet-waste avoidance without supervision.
- Choose another model if replacing rollers every 1–2 months, handling tanks and bags, or troubleshooting an app is unacceptable.
- Reconsider the price if a premium competitor is heavily discounted into the same range.
Final verdict
The T80 OMNI’s value is specific, not universal. It brings a genuinely advanced, continuously washed roller mop into ECOVACS’s T-series and can approach costlier models’ mopping experience in the right hard-floor home. At the observed $399 US price, that is its strongest argument.
