Dyson’s HushJet Mini Cool is a compact personal fan, not a room cooler. Launched in the U.S. on April 9, 2026, at a listed price of $99.99, it weighs 212 grams and can be used handheld, on a desk, or with its Neck Dock. Dyson claims up to 25 m/s of airflow in Boost mode and up to six hours of battery life. The catch: its strongest airflow is still audible, and the focused breeze is no substitute for broad room circulation or air conditioning.
What Dyson launched
The Dyson HushJet Mini Cool fan is the company’s first portable handheld fan. Dyson lists it at $99.99 on its U.S. product page; price and stock can change. It is intended for close-range personal cooling during commuting, travel, outdoor events, or desk work, rather than cooling a room.
Dyson’s U.S. page shows three color options. The fan is about 38 mm in diameter and weighs 212 g. The launch bundle is described as including a Neck Dock, Charging Stand, USB-C cable, and Travel Pouch. Other accessories, including a Grip Clip and Universal Mount, may be optional or vary by configuration, so check the exact bundle before buying.

How the airflow works—and what “powerful” means
The fan has five airflow speeds plus Boost. Dyson says its HushJet outlet, honeycomb mesh liner, airflow shaping, and acoustically engineered motor with anti-vibration mounting are designed to manage turbulence and reduce high-frequency noise. These are design claims, not a guarantee that every user will find the fan quiet.

Dyson advertises airflow speeds of up to 25 m/s—about 55 mph—at the outlet in Boost mode. That number describes air velocity at a point, not the total volume of air moved or the area cooled. The result is a concentrated stream that can feel forceful when aimed at your face or neck. It does not establish that the fan outperforms other models overall, and it will not move air around a room like a larger desk or floor fan.
Is it actually quiet?
There is no universal verdict. TechRadar found it surprisingly quiet and effective; Tom’s Guide found the sound could become annoying while working; and Ideal Home noted a noise trade-off at higher output. Those different impressions underline how setting, distance, surroundings, and personal sensitivity affect perceived noise.

The sensible expectation is that its airflow design may sound less harsh than some high-speed handheld fans, especially at lower or moderate settings, but it is not silent. Stronger airflow remains audible. If you need a genuinely quiet fan for sleep, calls, recording, or a noise-sensitive office, consider whether you can tolerate it at the lower speeds you would actually use. Dyson does not provide a controlled, universally comparable decibel figure in the supplied product information.
Battery, charging, and portability
Dyson claims up to six hours of runtime. Treat that as a maximum-use figure, not a promise of six hours on Boost; higher output generally draws more power, and the supplied information does not give a full runtime for each speed. The fan charges over USB-C, with a cable listed in the launch bundle. The available specifications do not establish charging time, whether it operates while plugged in, or whether the battery is user-replaceable. Do not assume it can act as a power bank.

At 212 g, the fan itself is light enough to carry in a bag and, depending on the pocket, possibly a pocket. It can stand on a desk, while wearable use requires the Neck Dock. The dock adds bulk and weight, so comfort over a full day is a personal-fit question rather than something the fan’s weight alone answers. Confirm accessory inclusion in the package you are considering.
What cooling you can expect
This is a fan, not an air conditioner. It does not refrigerate air or lower the room’s ambient temperature. Moving air across skin helps sweat evaporate, which can make a person feel cooler; that effect is less effective when humidity is high because sweat evaporates more slowly. Its narrow stream may help when you can direct it at yourself, but it is not designed to cool a group or circulate air through a space.

For construction work or other hot outdoor settings, a personal fan may provide some comfort, but it is not heat protection or a heat-illness treatment. Do not rely on it instead of shade, hydration, rest and cooling breaks, or appropriate workplace heat-safety measures. Seek medical help for signs of heat illness.
Who is it for?
- Commuters and travelers: Its low weight, USB-C charging, and included travel accessories make portability a central part of the offer.
- Outdoor-event attendees: A concentrated breeze can be useful when you want airflow directed at one person.
- Desk users: It can cool one person, but the narrow stream and audible higher settings may be less suitable for quiet work than a slower, broader desk fan.
- People seeking a wearable option: The Neck Dock enables that use, but fit and comfort depend on the wearer and the setting.
- People needing room cooling: Choose a conventional room fan for broader circulation or an air conditioner when you need the air temperature lowered.
Is the $99.99 price justified?
The Dyson’s case is its combination of compact size, focused airflow, several ways to use it, and a bundled accessory set. That may justify the premium for someone who will regularly carry it and use more than one form factor. It is a harder sell if the requirement is simply an inexpensive breeze: the official U.S. listing for the JisuLife Handheld Fan Pro1S showed a $69.99 price signal in the supplied research, roughly $30 less. That is a price comparison, not a performance ranking; the models have different designs, and the available evidence does not establish which is quieter or more effective in a controlled head-to-head test.
