Yes—the Dreame Z1 Pro is an underwater robotic pool cleaner. It is designed to vacuum and scrub a swimming pool’s floor, walls and waterline, with app controls and a poolside LiFi remote. It is not a surface skimmer, and cordless does not mean hands-free: you still need to charge it, put it in the water, empty its filter and retrieve it when needed. Whether it is a good fit depends especially on your pool’s shape, finish and debris load.
What the Dreame Z1 Pro does—and what it doesn’t
The Z1 Pro is a rechargeable, cordless robot that moves underwater to collect debris and scrub pool surfaces. Dreame lists it for in-ground and above-ground pools. Its advertised cleaning areas are the floor, walls and waterline, with support for certain steps and tanning ledges. It is a pool-cleaning appliance, not a chemical monitor, pump, replacement for your pool’s filtration system or solar surface skimmer. It will not balance chlorine or pH, empty the pool’s skimmer basket, or reliably remove every stain or severe algae problem.
Dreame describes the Z1 Pro as suitable for a range of pool types and finishes, but that broad compatibility claim is not a guarantee that it will navigate every shape or grip every surface. A robot’s ability to climb a wall or step in principle does not ensure it will manage a sharp transition, narrow bench, curved cove or slick finish in your particular pool.

Dreame lists two active brushes, dual brushless pump motors and maximum suction of 8,000 gallons per hour. Its comparison information lists a 180-micrometer filter, while the US specification document lists a 4.5-liter filter basket. Those are manufacturer specifications, not independent proof of whole-pool cleaning performance. A 180-micrometer filter also should not be mistaken for a guarantee that the robot captures every very fine particle or suspended contaminant.

The mode names and available functions can change with app updates, so check the current Dreame Home interface and manual for your model and region.
You can operate it through controls on the unit, the Dreame Home app, and—on the Pro—the poolside LiFi remote. Dreame presents the remote as a way to communicate with and steer the robot underwater. Treat this as poolside control, not proof of internet-based operation from anywhere. Dreame’s product information says app features are unavailable while the cleaner is underwater, so configure or start the functions you need before deployment. Auto-parking or recall can help with retrieval, but do not assume it removes the need to physically handle the robot.

Will it clean your pool’s floor, walls, steps and ledges?
Floor, wall and waterline cleaning are the core advertised jobs. Dreame also describes structured-light recognition for steps around 10–30 cm high and cites tanning-ledge cleaning as a Pro-model capability. These claims are useful starting points, not a promise of coverage on every pool layout.

- Check transitions: sharp floor-to-wall angles, tight coves, narrow benches and large changes in elevation may interrupt a route.
- Check the finish: unusual texture, very slick material or highly reflective surfaces can affect traction or navigation. Dreame warns that pure black, highly reflective or fully transparent pool surfaces may cause mapping problems.
- Check ledge geometry: a shelf may be too shallow or shaped in a way that prevents the robot from positioning itself to clean it.
- Check debris: a heavy load of leaves can fill the basket quickly. Fine silt, algae and scale may need other filtration, brushing or water treatment.
If the pool has unusual geometry or a sensitive finish, confirm compatibility with Dreame and the seller before buying, and review the manual for your region. Dreame says the cleaner can be used in saltwater pools; follow its maintenance and rinsing directions rather than treating that claim as a guarantee against long-term wear.

Coverage, runtime and charging
Dreame’s pages do not give one consistent coverage figure. Depending on the regional page or specification revision, the company lists roughly 1,950 to 2,160 square feet (about 180 to 200 square meters). Treat that as a manufacturer-stated range, not a universal limit or independently verified coverage result. Pool shape, depth, water temperature, surface, debris and the selected cleaning mode can affect how much useful work it completes.
Runtime figures also vary across Dreame material. The US technical document lists three to five hours, while product pages use claims including more than 180 minutes. Charging is variously described as about four hours or four to six hours; the technical document gives four to five hours. In practical terms, plan for several hours of charging and do not assume every pool will receive a complete floor, wall and waterline clean on every charge. What “cordless” changes—and what it doesn’t
Without a power cable trailing through the pool, deployment and storage can be simpler, and there is no cord to manage during a cycle. The trade-off is finite battery life, charging downtime and eventual battery aging. The robot also remains a physical object you must put in the water, retrieve, clean and store. For a large or complicated pool, a corded cleaner may be preferable if continuous operation or serviceability matters more than avoiding a cable.

Routine ownership still means charging on land, checking the intake and brushes, choosing a mode, deploying the robot, and removing and rinsing the basket after use. Retrieve it with the method provided—such as recall, parking, remote or the supplied hook—and rinse and store it as the manual directs. Keep up with normal pool chemistry and skimmer maintenance; the robot does not replace either. Use the official US manual or the applicable regional manual for charging, storage, water-quality and maintenance instructions.
How it compares with alternatives
The Z1 Pro is most compelling when you want cordless floor, wall and waterline cleaning plus poolside steering, and its current price is meaningfully below comparable premium models. The Pro’s clearest stated advantages over the Dreame Z1 are the LiFi remote and added tanning-ledge capability; do not assume the Pro has a radically different cleaning core. Dreame’s comparison materials also show differing coverage figures, so compare the exact regional specifications.

Who should consider the Z1 Pro?
It is a plausible shortlist option for an owner with a conventional pool within Dreame’s stated size range who wants cable-free cleaning of the floor, walls and waterline. The Pro remote is most useful if poolside steering or retrieval is a real convenience for you, and the ledge claim matters only if your pool has a ledge the robot can physically negotiate. Value depends on the actual local price and how well the design suits your pool.
Consider another approach if your pool has tight coves, unusual steps, a highly reflective or transparent finish, or an unusually heavy leaf load; if you require near-perfect coverage without checking the result; or if you want surface skimming as well as underwater cleaning. For a surface-cleaning need, choose a model explicitly listing water-surface cleaning rather than expecting the Z1 Pro to skim.
