Yes—Reolink advertises Local AI Video Search on two floodlight models: the Elite Floodlight WiFi and Elite Pro Floodlight PoE. You can search compatible, locally stored event recordings without a mandatory cloud subscription. The qualification matters: you need a supported camera, recording storage and compatible firmware, and AI search does not scan every frame of continuous footage. Reolink’s separate Cloud AI Video Search+ is a paid cloud feature.
What “video search” means on a Reolink camera
Reolink uses “search” for several different ways to find recordings. Knowing which one you need helps avoid confusing basic playback or smart detection with natural-language search.
Playback by date and timeline
Ordinary playback lets you choose a date and move along a timeline to find footage. You can use available recording-type or alarm filters. This is a way to navigate recordings, not a search that understands what appears in the image. See Reolink’s recording search guide.
Event and object filters
On cameras with supported smart detection, playback may be filtered by categories such as person, vehicle, animal, motion or visitor. The categories depend on the camera. A camera that labels an event as a person detection does not necessarily support searches for arbitrary descriptions.

AI Video Search
Reolink’s AI Video Search can search compatible event recordings by object category and, on supported devices, English keywords. Example queries include “person,” “vehicle,” “animal” and “person holding a cat.” Reolink says the feature searches event recordings generated by compatible cameras; it is not a semantic search of every frame of continuous footage. Its AI Video Search documentation also notes that keyword results rely primarily on the terms entered.
Which Reolink floodlight cameras are confirmed?
Reolink’s product pages explicitly promote Local AI Video Search for these two models:
- Elite Floodlight WiFi: A fixed 4K dual-lens camera with a 180-degree panoramic view and adjustable lighting rated up to 3,000 lumens. It suits a powered location where Wi-Fi and a wide fixed view are appropriate. Product details.
- Elite Pro Floodlight PoE: A fixed 16MP dual-lens camera with a 180-degree view and adjustable 2,800-lumen floodlights. It uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), so installation requires a suitable Ethernet and PoE setup. Product details.
That confirmation should not be extended automatically to every Reolink floodlight. Other models clearly offer some combination of local recording and smart detection, but the available product information does not establish that they provide the same Local AI Video Search feature.

Other floodlight models to check individually
- TrackFlex Floodlight WiFi: Reolink lists pan-and-tilt, tracking, local microSD storage up to 512GB, and NVR, Home Hub and FTP/NAS options. Its product page does not use the same explicit Local AI Video Search wording as the two Elite pages. Check current model and firmware compatibility before relying on AI search. Product details.
- Duo Floodlight PoE: It supports person, vehicle and animal detection and local recording through microSD, NVR, Home Hub or FTP/NAS. Reolink says its smart detection has no extra fees, but that does not by itself confirm natural-language AI search. Product details.
- Solar Floodlight Cam: Reolink lists smart detection and adaptive lighting, but the available product information does not establish support for the same local keyword-search feature. Check model-specific compatibility if AI search is essential. Reolink’s smart-detection compatibility information.
What you need for subscription-free search
“No subscription” means a compatible local setup can search its recordings without requiring a cloud plan. It does not mean there is no storage or installation cost.

- A supported camera, firmware and connection setup. Compatibility can vary by model, firmware and how the camera is connected.
- Recorded footage. Use a camera microSD card, compatible Reolink NVR, Home Hub or supported local recording configuration. Storage options differ by camera; see Reolink’s playback guide.
- The Reolink App or Client. Keep the software and camera firmware current, and check Reolink’s compatibility information if the feature is unavailable.
- Event recordings for AI search. AI Video Search searches compatible event recordings, so recording must be enabled and the relevant event must have been captured.
A microSD card, recorder, hard drive, Home Hub, wiring or installation may add upfront cost. Local recording also means you are responsible for choosing storage capacity and managing retention; it is not unlimited cloud backup.
How to search in the Reolink App
- Open the Reolink App and sign in to the camera.
- Open the camera’s Live View, then tap Playback.
- Tap the magnifying-glass icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select an available category such as Person, Vehicle or Animal, and choose a date or time range.
- If keyword search is supported, enter a concise English phrase and run the search.
- Open a returned event to review the clip.
Reolink says keyword search currently supports English. Try a simple term first; vague wording, overly specific descriptions, misspellings, questions and descriptions of tiny or fast-moving objects can make results less useful. For NVR users, Reolink also documents access through the NVR settings page or Event History. The precise interface may vary by device and app version. See the AI Video Search instructions.
How to find recordings without AI Search
If AI search is unavailable, ordinary playback still lets you locate footage by date and time.

Local AI Video Search vs. paid Cloud AI Video Search+
These are separate features. Local search works with compatible locally stored event recordings; Cloud AI Video Search+ searches eligible footage uploaded to Reolink’s cloud library.
| Feature | Local AI Video Search | Cloud AI Video Search+ |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription | No cloud subscription is necessarily required for a compatible local setup. | Requires a qualifying Reolink Upgraded Series cloud plan. |
| Where footage is stored | Camera microSD, NVR, Home Hub or supported local storage. | Reolink cloud library. |
| What it searches | Compatible event recordings. | Videos uploaded after the feature is enabled. |
| Search method | Object categories and, on supported devices, English keyword searches. | Natural-language searches through cloud event history. |
| Availability | Depends on model, firmware and connection method. | Depends on region, plan and device. |
| Privacy and data protection | Recordings remain in the local storage setup. | Footage is uploaded to the cloud; Reolink says Advanced Data Protection must be disabled for Cloud AI Search+. |

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What to do when search fails
No recordings appear
Check that a recording destination is installed and recognized, recording is enabled, and the selected date contains footage. If you expect event search results, confirm event or smart-event recording was enabled. AI search cannot recover footage that was never recorded.
The AI Search icon is missing
The camera may not support AI Video Search, may need a firmware update, or may be connected through an unsupported NVR or hardware revision. The feature can also depend on app version, rollout or region. Check the model-specific compatibility information rather than assuming the missing icon means the camera is faulty.

- 1080p HD security camera for your home or business with motion-activated LED floodlights, 105dB security siren, Two-Way Talk, and customizable motion zones.
- Get motion-activated notifications on your phone, tablet or PC and check in at home anytime with Live View all in the Ring app.
- Customize motion zones in the Ring app to fine-tune which areas you want to focus on.
- Eliminate blind spots or dark areas at home or your business with built-in Color Night Vision and two LED floodlights.
- Easily hardwire to the outside of your home and connect to wifi for around-the-clock power and peace of mind.
A keyword search returns nothing useful
- Confirm the date range includes the event and that it was recorded.
- Use English and simplify the phrase to a broad object term.
- Avoid question-style queries such as “Did someone come in?” and descriptions that are unusually specific or vague.
- Bear in mind that tiny, fast-moving or visually ambiguous subjects may be difficult to retrieve.
These limits apply to search results, not to whether the camera can detect an event at all; smart detection and AI keyword search are different capabilities.
Choosing a floodlight setup for a property
For a fixed wide view and local search explicitly advertised by Reolink, compare the Elite models against the installation you can support. The Elite Floodlight WiFi is the Wi-Fi option; the Elite Pro Floodlight PoE is for a site where Ethernet and PoE are practical. Both have a 180-degree view, while their advertised resolutions and lighting output differ as noted above.
If pan-and-tilt tracking is more important than confirmed keyword search, the TrackFlex may be worth considering, but verify AI-search support for the exact unit before buying. If you mainly want fixed PoE coverage and person, vehicle and animal alerts, the Duo Floodlight PoE has documented smart detection and local storage; do not treat that as proof of natural-language search. For a location without convenient mains wiring, the Solar Floodlight Cam has a different installation proposition, but its local AI keyword-search support is not established in the cited material.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The practical trade-off is straightforward: local storage can avoid recurring cloud fees and keeps recordings in your own recording setup, but it requires compatible hardware, storage planning and some upkeep. Cloud search is a separate paid option for people who prefer a cloud-managed archive.
