Verdict: The DJI ROMO P is a genuine flagship robot vacuum and mop with excellent mapping, strong everyday pickup, sophisticated obstacle sensing and an unusually automated dock. Its transparent hardware and extendable edge arms are distinctive, but neither guarantees cleaner corners, and the robot can still become trapped under low furniture. The bigger issue for many shoppers is support: availability, warranty coverage and consumables vary by country. Buy it only where DJI officially sells the exact configuration.
DJI ROMO P price and availability
The ROMO P is DJI’s first robot-vacuum flagship and the top model in a three-product family: ROMO S, ROMO A and ROMO P. Regional listings sell the robot with a water-tank base station; some markets also offer versions designed for automatic water supply and drainage. Do not assume that a bundle, dock or price in one country applies elsewhere.
DJI’s Canadian listing showed a USD $1,339 price signal when indexed, while the Spanish store showed €1,199 on sale from €1,399. A UK hands-on report cited £1,299. These are regional, configuration-specific and potentially promotional figures, not a US MSRP. What makes the ROMO P different?
Drone-derived sensing
The P combines dual binocular fisheye vision sensors with wide-angle solid-state LiDAR. DJI describes real-time recognition of wires, irregular furniture, food and other small obstacles. TechRadar also reported edge-aware depth processing and adaptive brush rotation and suction when loose debris is detected. Those are hardware and software capabilities, not a promise that every object will be recognised in every lighting condition.
Extendable edge arms
Two extendable arms are designed to move the cleaning path toward walls and corners. DJI markets this as “100% edge and corner coverage,” but that is a manufacturer claim. Independent testing found missed debris at edges and corners and reported that the plastic spinning arms sometimes pushed dirt without feeding it into the suction path. The arms are an interesting mechanism, not a substitute for occasional hand cleaning.
Transparent robot and dock
The robot and P base station use transparent panels. You can see hair, dust and residue rather than discovering a blockage only after performance drops. The look is distinctive, though it is subjective: transparent plastic can also make accumulated grime more visible and may not suit a living room.

The base uses high-pressure jets to wash the mop system, flush debris and store dirty water. It also dispenses cleaning and deodorizing liquids in supported configurations. DJI advertises up to 200 days of maintenance-free operation; that is an estimate, not a universal interval. You still need to refill or empty tanks, replace dust bags and filters, remove hair, clean sensors and maintain the dock.

Vacuuming performance
Tom’s Guide reported strong results on oak flooring and medium-pile carpet, including dog hair and dander. The robot left visible vacuum tracks on carpet, suggesting consistent brush contact. That is useful evidence for daily pet-hair cleaning, but it is not a controlled comparison against every Roborock, Dreame, Shark or Ecovacs model.
DJI’s headline specification is 25,000 Pa suction. Pa is a manufacturer pressure claim, not a standardized household pickup score. It cannot by itself predict performance on fine dust, rice-sized debris, embedded grit or high-pile carpet. Repeated passes, brush design, airflow, navigation and bin loading matter just as much.
- Hard floors: Coverage and navigation were reported as strong in hands-on use.
- Medium-pile carpet: Dog hair and dander pickup was positive in testing; carpet marks were visible.
- Edges and corners: Independent coverage found missed debris despite the extendable arms.
- Long hair: DJI supplies dual anti-tangle rollers, but “anti-tangle” does not mean maintenance-free. Inspect rollers regularly.
- Under furniture: Mapping can be accurate while movement still fails when clearance changes.
Mopping and the maintenance dock
The DJI Home app offers four modes: vacuum and mop, vacuum only, mop only, and vacuum then mop. The P can therefore vacuum first and mop afterward instead of dragging wet pads over fresh debris. DJI’s Australian comparison material lists a 164 mL onboard water tank; confirm that specification for the regional edition you buy.

In hands-on coverage, the P applied cleaning and deodorizing solution, rinsed the pads and stored dirty water in the dock. That makes it suitable for routine paw prints and tracked-in soil. Dried stains may still require repeated passes or manual scrubbing; no supplied evidence establishes a guaranteed single-pass result.

Use only liquids approved for your market and configuration. Tom’s Guide reported proprietary-shaped solution bottles, which can restrict refill choices and increase running costs compared with a conventional refillable detergent tank. Verify bottle availability before purchase, especially if you are importing the robot.
Navigation, obstacles and low furniture
Initial mapping was reported as accurate, and obstacle avoidance was impressive around ordinary household objects. LiDAR supplies geometry while the cameras help identify objects that a purely laser-based system might treat as obstacles or ignore.
There is an important failure mode: Tom’s Guide saw the robot become trapped beneath a sofa whose usable clearance changed when the sofa was occupied. Measure the lowest clearance in real use, not only with furniture empty. Create a no-go zone or enable the app’s low-clearance setting where appropriate. Accurate maps do not guarantee successful recovery from a physically changing gap.

The app handles maps, room naming, cleaning zones, schedules, suction, water flow, cleaning order and virtual boundaries. Remote-control and remote-view functions have also been reported. Camera access creates privacy questions: review current permissions, account security and DJI’s privacy policy before enabling remote viewing, and do not assume that a feature available in one country appears in another.

Software is still evolving. DJI’s April 13, 2026 release notes list firmware V01.00.15.00 and DJI Home V1.5.16 for iOS and Android. That release added custom room naming, security passcode settings and other fixes; mainland China received voice control for custom tasks. Earlier updates added dust-box drying after vacuum-only jobs, network diagnostics, low-clearance settings and improved carpet detection. Check the latest notes and store version before relying on any specific feature: ROMO release notes.
TechRadar found DJI Home less integrated with Alexa and Apple HomeKit than some established ecosystems. If broad smart-home control is more important than DJI’s own routines, a rival platform may be easier.

DJI claims a three-stage sound-suppression system, but the supplied coverage does not provide independent decibel measurements. Noise should be considered separately for normal vacuuming, maximum suction, dust emptying, mop washing and hot-air drying; a robot that is quiet on the floor can still be loud at its dock.
The robot is listed at 98 mm high in DJI comparison material. Confirm the exact edition and measure thresholds, rugs with tassels, stair drop-offs and the dock’s required side and overhead clearance against the official user manual. Automatic water-supply and drainage docks additionally require suitable plumbing and installation space.

Exact prices and included accessories vary by country and promotion. The official A listing is DJI ROMO A; compare the local specification tables rather than converting another region’s price.
Alternatives and value
The ROMO P is easiest to justify when its sensing, transparent design and dock automation matter more than ecosystem maturity or price. In supported markets, compare it with established premium models before committing:

Check current stock, warranty, consumables and exact model configuration at the manufacturers’ sites: Shark, Ecovacs, Eufy and Dreame. Tom’s Guide concluded that several of these US-available options can offer better value when the DJI cannot be officially obtained.

Who should buy the DJI ROMO P?
It makes sense when
- You live in a supported market with official service and consumables.
- Pet hair, dander and daily mixed-floor debris are major concerns.
- You value automatic mop washing, drying and dirty-water handling.
- You want advanced obstacle sensing and a distinctive transparent design.
- You accept first-generation hardware and a premium price.
Choose something else when
- You are in the US or another unsupported region and need simple warranty and parts access.
- Your home has many low-clearance sofas or furniture that changes position.
- You expect the arms to eliminate manual corner cleaning.
- You dislike proprietary detergent bottles or limited third-party accessories.
- You require deep Alexa, Apple HomeKit or broader smart-home integration.
- Price-to-performance matters more than novel hardware.
Bottom line
The ROMO P is not a concept product: it is a capable premium vacuum-and-mop system whose best evidence is strong general cleaning, accurate mapping, impressive obstacle handling and a genuinely automated dock. Its headline innovations are less conclusive. The 25,000 Pa figure is not a standardized score, “100%” corner coverage is contradicted by reported missed debris, and low furniture can still trap it. For buyers in an officially supported market who value automation and design, it is a credible flagship. For US shoppers or anyone prioritizing dependable parts and value, an established rival is the safer purchase until DJI’s local availability and support are confirmed.
