The BLUETTI AC240 is listed for Australian buyers as a 1,536Wh portable power station with 2,400W of continuous AC output and an IP65-rated enclosure. That combination makes it worth considering for campsites, caravans and worksites where dust and water exposure are concerns—but IP65 does not mean the unit is waterproof or safe to submerge. At the listed price of A$2,799, its 33kg weight and the need to plan for recharging matter just as much as its headline output.

BLUETTI Australia lists the AC240 at A$2,799. The product page has displayed conflicting availability messages, including “temporarily out of stock,” “notify me” and “buy now,” so check the live listing and checkout before relying on a delivery date. The listing establishes that the model is offered through Australian sales channels; it does not establish a precise Australian launch date. This article focuses on the Australian 230V configuration, not specifications copied from overseas listings.

Capacity and output describe different things. The 1,536Wh figure is stored energy; 2,400W is the AC load the inverter is rated to supply continuously. Power Lifting Mode is not a general-purpose 3,600W continuous rating: BLUETTI presents it for certain resistive appliances, and it should not be assumed to make every motor or electronically controlled appliance compatible.
What IP65 means—and what it does not
In the IP65 rating, “6” means dust-tight enclosure protection, while “5” indicates protection against water jets from any direction under defined test conditions. It is not an immersion rating. Do not leave the AC240 in a puddle, floodwater or a position exposed to uncontrolled heavy spray. BLUETTI markets the unit for dusty and wet environments, but that does not establish unlimited exposure or independently verified marine-grade durability.
Also, the rating on the power station does not automatically apply to its cables, plugs, solar connectors, power boards or the appliances connected to it. Keep connections and any uncovered ports protected as directed in the manual; use outdoor-rated electrical equipment where conditions require it. Set the station on a stable, dry surface, route cables to avoid water and trip hazards, and leave ventilation areas unobstructed. Charging options and real-world expectations
BLUETTI specifies up to 2,200W AC input and claims charging from empty to 80% in about 45 minutes at that input level. For solar, it claims a full charge in about 1.5 hours with 1,200W of input under ideal conditions. Vehicle charging is much slower: the stated figures are about 100W from a 12V outlet or 200W from a 24V system.
The solar figure is a best-case specification, not a promise for a camping trip. Actual input depends on panel rating and compatibility, sun angle, season, shading, heat, cable losses and the station’s input limits. A shaded campsite or cloudy day can make a substantial difference. If reliable recharge is essential, plan for mains or vehicle charging as well rather than treating maximum solar input as guaranteed.
What can it run?
As a rough planning aid, estimated runtime can be calculated as battery watt-hours × assumed usable efficiency ÷ load in watts. The examples below assume 85% usable efficiency—about 1,306Wh from the 1,536Wh battery—and are calculations, not BLUETTI test results or runtime guarantees.

Real results vary with inverter losses, battery reserve settings, temperature and how the appliance operates. A fridge cycles on and off, so its average draw may be far below its running draw—or higher than expected in hot weather. Kettles, heaters, induction cookers and hair dryers can drain the battery quickly even when their power draw is within the AC output rating. Motors, compressors, pumps and power tools may also have startup surges above their labelled running wattage.

- Camping and caravanning: The 230V outlets, substantial capacity, solar input and 12V/30A RV output can suit users who need more than phone and laptop charging. Its 33kg weight makes it awkward to lift often, and high-draw cooking or heating still limits runtime.
- Boats and coastal use: Dust and water-jet resistance may be useful, but IP65 is not permission to expose the unit to seawater, immersion or unrestricted spray. Protect all electrical connections and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Worksites and outdoor events: It can provide quiet battery power for compatible tools, lighting and electronics where fuel fumes and engine noise are undesirable. Check tool startup loads and the conditions at the work area; the enclosure rating does not make every attached lead weatherproof.
- Household backup and remote work: The 15ms UPS switchover claim may help with some electronics, but it is not proof of compatibility with every server, medical device or sensitive load. Test the actual equipment, and use a dedicated UPS where its requirements call for one.
Unlike a petrol or diesel generator, a battery power station produces no direct exhaust while operating. Its endurance is limited by stored energy and access to recharging, however. It can be a practical alternative for quiet, low- or medium-duration use, not an equal substitute for a fuel generator running high loads for days with refuelling. A generator may be more practical for prolonged heavy demand if fuel, noise, ventilation and emissions can be managed safely.

The right comparison depends on whether you value the AC240’s configuration and weather protection, more capacity per dollar, or a smaller budget. The Australian product pages’ prices and stock indicators are time-sensitive; verify them before choosing.

The AC240P is not automatically the better buy: its expansion-battery ecosystem differs from the AC240’s, and a listed product price is useful only if the model and compatible accessories are available and meet your needs. BLUETTI describes AC240 expansion with up to four B210 batteries; verify Australian stock and compatibility rather than assuming they are readily obtainable. If your loads are modest, the cheaper AC60 may be the more sensible choice; confirm its current configuration and price before purchase.
Who should buy it?
The AC240 makes most sense if you need a 2,400W-class inverter, value an IP65-rated enclosure, regularly use 230V appliances away from a conventional outlet, and have a realistic plan to recharge it. It may suit caravanners, campers, tradespeople and backup users who can manage a 33kg unit and accept battery-limited runtime.

Choose a smaller, lighter station if your actual needs are phones, lights, laptops, cameras and a modest fridge. Consider a conventional generator if you need sustained high-power operation over several days and can manage fuel, noise and safe exhaust handling. Neither the AC240’s output rating nor its weather resistance makes it a universal solution.
Before you buy
- Check that your largest appliance’s running draw and startup surge are within the station’s capabilities.
- Estimate runtime from average load, not just an appliance’s advertised peak wattage.
- Confirm live Australian stock, delivery timing, included accessories and local warranty terms.
- Verify compatible solar panels and cables, and plan for realistic rather than ideal sunlight.
- Check availability and compatibility of B210 expansion batteries if expansion is part of your purchase plan.
- Follow the current manual for temperature limits and storage. BLUETTI says to recharge the AC240 every three to six months during storage; use the latest product guidance.
BLUETTI lists more than 3,500 cycles to 80% of original capacity in Silent Mode. Treat this as a manufacturer claim under stated conditions, not a guarantee of the service life every owner will achieve. High ambient temperatures, direct sun and a hot vehicle interior also deserve attention: the specified operating range is −20°C to 40°C, and enclosed storage or direct exposure can create unsuitable conditions.
