The white, one-camera Blink Mini 2—a plug-in 1080p camera, not the newer Mini 2K+—was listed at Best Buy for $29.99 when the listing was checked. That is about $10 below the Mini 2’s $39.99 indoor launch price, but the deal is time-sensitive: confirm today’s price, stock, seller and delivery or pickup terms on Best Buy’s product page. The camera is an appealing low-cost indoor monitor if you have a nearby outlet; recording, outdoor installation and some detection features can add cost.
What the $29.99 listing includes
Best Buy’s listing identifies a single white Blink Mini 2 with 1080p video, motion detection, color night view and two-way audio. The listed price is for the camera package; do not assume it includes a Sync Module 2, USB storage, an outdoor power adapter or an additional mount unless the live listing explicitly says so. The available price information does not establish current stock, seller or fulfillment terms, so check those before checkout.
This is the original 1080p Mini 2, not the distinct Mini 2K+. Blink announced the Mini 2 in March 2024 at $39.99 for indoor use and $49.98 for an outdoor bundle with a weather-resistant power adapter. Those were launch prices, not a guarantee of current pricing. Amazon’s launch announcement gives that context.

The Mini 2 records 1080p HD video and offers motion detection and notifications, two-way audio, a built-in spotlight and infrared night vision. The spotlight can help produce color night views when it or other available light illuminates the scene; it is not daylight-like color vision in total darkness. Independent coverage describes video up to 30 frames per second and notes the camera’s value-focused positioning. Wired’s review and PCWorld’s review discuss the trade-offs.

It is a fixed-view camera, so one unit cannot remotely pan around a room. The Mini 2 also works with Alexa when set up with a compatible Alexa system, and it can act as a chime for a Blink Video Doorbell. Blink’s Mini 2 FAQ covers these capabilities and setup requirements.
Power and placement are the first practical constraints
Despite using Wi-Fi, the Mini 2 is not wireless in the battery-powered sense: it needs continuous USB power. Its included indoor cable is about 2 meters (6.5 feet) long, and Blink specifies standard 5V, 1A USB power. That makes placement easiest near an outlet, such as on a desk, shelf or entryway wall. A distant window, high shelf or outdoor position may require a different power arrangement or careful cable routing. A power outage, router failure or weak Wi-Fi signal can interrupt monitoring.

Blink rates the camera IP65 for weather resistance, but outdoor use requires the separately sold Blink Weather Resistant Power Adapter. The included indoor cable and adapter should not be treated as weatherproof. Blink’s stated operating range is −20°C to 45°C (approximately −5°F to 113°F). In short, “indoor/outdoor” describes possible use with the right power accessory, not a ready-to-install outdoor camera in the $29.99 package. The Mini 2 can operate without a Sync Module when connected to power and Wi-Fi. Basic live viewing, motion detection, notifications and two-way audio do not mean that every event is saved as a replayable clip. Cloud recording, person detection and playback conveniences are tied to a Blink subscription; check Blink’s current app and plan terms for the exact features available to your account.

Cloud recording
Cloud storage is the simpler route for reviewing clips through the app, but it brings a recurring charge. Amazon’s March 2024 announcement listed U.S. Blink Basic at $3 per month or $30 per year, with features including person detection, cloud video recording and up to 60 days of video history. Those are historical announced terms, not verified August 2026 pricing. Confirm current plan details at Blink’s official ecosystem page before subscribing.
Local storage
To save clips locally without a cloud plan, Blink requires a Sync Module 2 and a compatible USB flash drive; neither is assumed to be part of this camera deal. Blink says local and cloud storage can be used together. Its Sync Module 2 documentation describes clip retention subject to auto-delete settings, with a maximum of 60 days in the cited documentation. These totals exclude any mount or cable-routing accessories that a particular installation may need. Before buying, decide whether you need only live awareness, replayable recordings, or outdoor placement; those choices—not just the camera price—determine the useful cost comparison.
Who should buy it—and who should look elsewhere
Good fit
- You need an inexpensive fixed indoor view for a pet, common room, entryway or nursery, and have an outlet nearby.
- You already use Blink or Alexa and want to add a camera to that setup.
- You are comfortable choosing between a subscription and the extra hardware required for local recording.
- You want basic awareness rather than a professionally monitored alarm system.
Look for another setup if
- You need a battery-powered camera or cannot route power to the location.
- You want convenient saved clips and person detection without a subscription or extra local-storage hardware.
- You need one camera to scan a room; the Blink Mini Pan-Tilt line is designed for remotely adjustable coverage, though its current price is not established here. Amazon’s announcement describes the Pan-Tilt model.
- You want more detail than 1080p; compare the Mini 2 with the separate Mini 2K+ and confirm the exact model in any deal listing. A Target camera category listing references the newer model.
- You need an outdoor installation but lack protected continuous power, or expect professional monitoring or emergency dispatch.
For privacy-sensitive indoor placement, Blink supports privacy and activity zones; configure them for the areas you do not want monitored. Verdict on the $29.99 price
At the observed price, the Blink Mini 2 is a reasonable budget choice for simple, fixed indoor monitoring when you have nearby power and understand how you will handle recordings. It is less compelling if you must buy accessories for outdoor use, want a battery camera, or expected cloud recording and person detection to be included at no ongoing cost. Check the live listing and calculate the storage or power setup you actually need before treating $30 as the full price.
